Welcome to the IASLC 2019 Latin America Conference on Lung Cancer (LALCA 2019). Lung cancer is still the leading cause of cancer death not only in Latin America but worldwide. Building on the success of the previous conferences in Argentina, Panama, Peru and other countries, international and national speakers will discuss the science and advances in the treatment and prevention of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies worldwide and Latin America in particular.
Simultaneous translation English >< Spanish will be provided for all sessions.
With tobacco being the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, the LALCA Conference will once again host a Cancer Control Program and Tobacco Forum on Thursday, October 17 (16:00 – 17:00). The inaugural “IASLC LALCA Advocacy Group Meeting” will take place as well on the same day (09:00 – 12:45), and will include presentations from scientists, patients and advocates.
This year, we will host again the IASLC School of Thoracic Oncology, an intense workshop for young researchers and clinicians as well as trainee physicians from different disciplines including medical oncology, thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pulmonary, radiology and pathology. The workshop will take place on Thursday. Also, we will host the IASLC School of Nursing and IASLC School of Pathology that will help these healthcare professionals interact with worldwide experts in the field. We will have, in collaboration with GO2 Foundation, a lung cancer advocacy session during a Living Room where more than 40 patients will meet with lung cancer leaders to discuss the most important concerns regarding lung cancer therapy; this session will be streamed live in YouTube and Facebook.
We will also continue with the very successful Round Table Discussions providing delegates a unique opportunity to talk directly with international leaders and local experts on specific topics. A total of 10 different round table topics will be offered. Don’t miss this great opportunity and make sure to participate in the Round Table Discussions.
We also would like to highlight various symposia hosted by our industry sponsors. They are free of charge to all delegates and the presented topics will complement the scientific sessions of the LALCA Conference.
We also encourage you to visit our exhibitors and poster presenters in the Exhibit Hall. Poster presenters will be available during the morning and afternoon Networking Breaks to discuss their research work with you. Please note that a different set of posters will be displayed each day.
We are thrilled that you are joining us for a stimulating and exciting conference and hope you have the chance to take a little extra time to enjoy Mexico City. This beautiful city is located in the Valley of Mexico, and it is one of the oldest cities in the Americas, built on an island of Lake Texcoco by the Aztecs in 1325 AD. It is a popular destination for many foreign tourists as it is steeped in rich history. Famous landmarks in the historic center
include the Plaza de la Constitución (Zócalo), the main central square, and ancient Aztec temple ruins Templo Mayor, all of which are situated among many modern architectural structures.
Mexico City is also renowned for some of the world’s best gastronomy. In 2018, two Mexico City restaurants made it to the World’s Top 50 list of best restaurants including Quintonil (# 11) and Pujol (# 13). Don’t miss your chance to experience all that Mexico City has to offer!
We look forward to welcoming you to Mexico City and to the IASLC LALCA 2019 Conference!
