Hello everybody, , and I would like to welcome you today to a feature presentation dedicated to one of the key components of upcoming IBM Cognos 10 Business Intelligence Platform which is called IBM Cognos Business Insight.Before Cognos 10 was released yesterday, October 25th, we had to announce this presentation to everybody as Whats new in Cognos BI Authoring but it is a very weak name for IBM Cognos Business Insight since it is something FAR BEYOND new way of report authoring or any BI content authoring. What we are talking about today is a brand new way to create and use BI content THROUGHOUT the organization and a brand new user experience around BI where all users work and collaborate in a single business environment. What it means for us and for our customers? We believe that with Cognos 10 and IBM Cognos Business Insight business intelligence will enjoy a much broader adoption within an organization meaning more business users are connected and existing business users get much more from BI that they currently get. In a nutshell, heres what we going to have today I will introduce you to Business Insight concept and key features and will see a bit of a Business Insight in action as related to both basic business users and advanced business users that can additionally benefit from such features as Ad-hoc query and analysis and use of external data in BI content creation.

Before we go in details with Business Insight lets take a look at what Cognos 10 Business Intelligence is in general and we consider Cognos 10 a revolutionary BI workspace delivered on a proven platform with seamless upgrade. Talking technically is of course an evolution of a very proven Cognos BI platform foundation and it is not a brand new technology which allows our customers to seamlessly upgrade. A revolution is what we actually offer on top of the platform and it is truly a unified BI workspace which gives all types of users a new level of freedom- Freedom to THINK, which is provided by a fully interactive and customized user workspace;- Freedom to CONNECT and INTERACT with others, which is provided by very powerful and easy-to use collaboration functions of Cognos 10 BI and we have a dedicated presentation to this after lunch please stay with us.And last, but not the least, Freedom to DO whatever you like with your BI content and consume it in any possible way on mobile devices, as disconnected reports (also a new feature of Cognos 10), in real time and real-time analytics is now an integral part of the platform.OUR FOCUS TODAY is Topic Number One which is actually about Business Insight but I encourage you to check our web resources for all features and functions of Cognos 10 and I guarantee that you will be amazed since it is really a lot of work done to make our key BI offering better.As of the Freedom to THINK this is how it is understood by the key consumers which are normally BUSINESS USERS:Managers need fast access to information which is relevant to them which basically means less unnecessary details and high-level, but interactive.Business users need their information be personalized and such personalized views must be easily assembled.Analysts need to have easy access to different sources of information and ability to freely explore and analyze it in their favorite way.What we were working on with Cognos 10 and specifically IBM Business Insight is to create a dream BI solution which normally - adapts to the way users work but doesnt adapt users to itself- Follows natural thought process of a business user and- Finally, is still as powerful but much simpler to use than previous-generation BI tools which hopefully makes it ANALYTICS THAT EVERYTHING CAN USE. Remember what we were starting from when discussing IBM Cognos 10? a Revolutionary BI workspace that you can assemble and change however you like and which is a single place for your work. If you are a Cognos 8 user, which is our previous BI platform, you may know that there are dashboards in the system but it is just another BI capability which is often ignored by users. Well, in Cognos 10 your BI workplace is a centre of your working universe and you can do almost everything there without leaving this workplace.- this is a radically different concept!

And what I listed are BASIC capabilities so were not even yet talking about what you can do in your workplace in Business Insight Advanced Mode we will come to this too.With IBM Cognos Business Insight, 3 GREAT THINGS are possible:To involve more users in working process as Business Insight can be adapted to thinking process of almost every personTo see and to explore all types of information available to organization andTo do more with information that we discovered by being able to go for deeper analysis and querying and again, WITHOUT LEAVING YOUR USER WORKSPACE!Let us first see how we can involve more users in decision making process this is mostly possible because Business Insight Workplace is highly customizable and flexible enough to support personal decision-making styles.Next thing about IBM Cognos Business Insight is how we can better see and explore all types of information available to organization right from our Workplace. The key thing here is that now we can drag-and drop or include ANY Cognos object to our BI workplace and use it most cases without leaving our workplace. For example, we can drag a TM1 cube with a planning data on our workplace near to the report on actuals and work with this cube or build a plan vs actual comparison graph. And we can do these tricks with nearly all types of data so now we can really talk about unified BI and Performance Management workplace. I can assure you that none of our competitors has even come close to this.This slide partially repeats what we were mentioning for user reach and adoption but it is again to mention that now we have a lot more ways to see and explore our data.When you are ready to expand on the capabilities offered by Cognos Business Insight, you can seamlessly transition to the deeper analysis capabilities of Cognos Business Insight Advanced, which enables the interactive exploration of information regardless of where the data is stored.
