• Setting up a FECCA Aged Care Reform Representatives Working Group with all FECCA representatives on Aged Care Reform implementation advisory groups, working groups, and sub groups.

• Extending the role of the FECCA Healthy Ageing Reference Committee to include systematic face‑to-face liaison and consultation with stakeholders.

•PICACs’ role/s:cultural competency training for all aged care services;

advancing health literacy for CALD elders and their carers ‑ a vital component of effective consumer directed care (CDC);

promoting and advancing your services in the context of assisting the aged care reform and CALD Aged Care Strategy implementation processes (both nationally and at a State and local level).

The challenges and the opportunities (1)

•A key challenge remains to integrate CALD perspectives into the overall aged care and health delivery frameworks so that ageing and aged people from CALD backgrounds are included in the development of the full range of appropriate aged care services and are empowered and confident in accessing those services.

•Our common aim must be to jointly and separately contribute to developing an aged care system where CALD inclusion is integral.

The challenges and the opportunities (2)•Gateway My Aged Care website has translations of information in 7 community languages. Feedback?

•Acceptance, but no final resolution, of the need for a rapid and effective interpreter service when people without fluent English phone the Gateway call centre.

•These issues need to be continually pressed to ensure their achievement.

•These are exciting times. We look forward to working with you towards achieving these goals.
