IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER FOR NEW PET PARENTSBringing a new puppy home? You have a lot of ideas and researches about puppy care. But, still confused where to start with your new family member. New dog ownership is a different and amazing experience. Nuvet Labs is giving a list of all important things to know that will help you to give your pup the right start.

Be Patient and CalmPuppy care is critical during a few months. You need a lot of patients to deal with your pup. There will be some accidents in your house. But, It will take some time to develop proper behavior and habits. As a new puppy parent, you should treat your puppy like a baby.

Be Flexible & Supervise Your PuppyCreate a bond and trust with your dog. Supervise his activities and try to understand his necessities. Spend some time with your puppy to and try to make him compatible with your life.

Develop Good Habits

If you are in doubt about canine behavior, you can take your puppy to a training class. It will help you to develop good habits in your pup. It will take some time, but, it will actually pay you off in a long run.

Good Nutrition & HealthOne way to keep your new puppy on the right path is to make sure that you are providing them with optimal nutrition. You should be feeding your dog a protein and nutrient rich dog food.

Be ConsistentMost likely it is going to take you more than once to get a point across to your new dog. Make sure when you are reiterating the behaviour that you want to instill in your pup that you always try to use the same language.

Frequent & short Training SessionLike small children puppies can have a rather short attention span so when trying to train your pup work on new skills and behaviour for short periods of time throughout the day. That way it won’t seem overwhelming for you or your puppy. Try to keep the sessions shorter than 15 minutes

Be Kind and affectionateMost puppy parents will tell you that what their dog likes to do the most is make them happy. One way you can tell Fido he is making you happy is by giving him a lot of praise and affection. Playing with your pup, rewarding him with a treat when he does something correctly and giving him a gentle scratch behind the ears are all ways you can tell your puppy you love him and appreciate him.
