Inclement weather conditions at the North County Aquatic Center and the Gifford Aquatic Center may result in the temporary closing of the pool at Management’s discretion. This policy is in place for the safety and well being of swimmers and the facility. In the event of an electrical storm, patrons will be notified by the new Thorguard lightning prediction system. The system will sound one loud air horn for 15 seconds when a storm is approaching. Patrons will be required to leave the facility immediately. The system will sound three, 5 second air horn blasts when the area is clear of the electrical storm and it is safe to resume activities. We will issue pool passes to patrons who have been at the facility less than two hours if the facility is closed for weather conditions prior to 2:30 p.m. Patrons must have a receipt to receive a pool pass.

The Recreation Staff would like to extend their heart-felt thanks to all volunteers who contribute to our mission “prevention and intervention through recreation.” The dedication of these individual talents along with the many, many volunteer hours, affords the Recreation Department the opportunity to serve numerous children. The annual amount of Adult Volunteer hours totals nearly 20,000. This equals an approximate dollar value of $139,000. Our children and our community benefit from our volunteers selfless dedication of time, effort, and energy. We thank you. We applaud you. We need you.
