What is Gradebook

YellowYellow indicators on the grid are the summative grades from assignments the teacher has entered The grades in GreenGreen are posted scores that have been entered for report card tasks The next area (the GrayGray area) displays the assignment group name at the top, the assignments name and the assignments scores within that group below.

Step 1: Set Teacher Preferences

• Instruction>Admin>Preferences

Note: Preferences are section specific and need to be set and saved for each Section

Step 2: Gradebook Lesson Plan Setup• Set the Lesson Plan Preferences (Instruction>Lesson Planner)

– Click the Lesson Planner icon– Choose your Section– Click the Lesson Plan Term– Choose a Grading Calculation option– Select the APS – Policy IKA-R Curve– Save your Changes

Gradebook Setup: Step 1• Set the Lesson Plan Preference

– Use Weighting on groups (Total Points)– Use each score’s percent value for

calculations (rather than points)

Grading: Calculation TipsWeighted vs. Total Points

• True Weighted Gradebook– All assignments have the

same point value (100, 50 etc.)

– Groups are weighted by percentage

• Homework = 20%• Classwork = 20%• Quiz = 20%• Test = 40%Combined Groups = 100%Select: Use each score’spercent value for calculations(rather than Points)

• Total Points– Assignments have

variable points depending on their importance

– Groups are weighted by total points

• Homework = 20 pts• Classwork = 30 pts• Quiz = 50 pts• Test = 100 pts

Step 3: Gradebook Setup• Set Up the Groups

– Homework, Class work, Quiz, Participation – Groups are placeholders for assignments. You may create as many or as few as you need for a term.

• Click on New Group– Fill in the Group Detail

• Name• Weight• Sequence• Term/Task

• Repeat above steps to create all groups for a section or class for a specific term

Repeat Set up steps to set up Preferences and Groups for all sections or Copy Groups using the Group Copy Utility

Step 4: Gradebook Setup• Set Up the Assignments• Choose your Section• Click New Assignment

– Name, Abbreviation– Select Group– Total Points– Date Due– Multiplier

• Homework Ch1, Homework Ch2, Assignments are a place holder for activities that you want to be calculated towards a students grade

• Red Label titles are Mandatory Fields and must be completed before proceeding

Step 5: Enter Scores / Grades

Double click the cell under the assignment title ((Gray ColumnsGray Columns)) to enter a score for specific assignment. Right click to add a comment or an optional flag

Step 5: Enter Scores / Editing Grades

Once grades have been posted and saved, they can be accessed from the Index under Instruction by clicking on Grading by Task or Grading by Student.  There you may enter comments or use Canned Comments

Step 7: Lesson Copier• Lesson Copier• The Lesson Plan Copier copies assignment groups and

assignments to another section taught by the same teacher. This can only be performed on an empty section (a section with no groups or assignments). If new assignments need to be copied, use the Copy Group function.

Step 8: Assignment Copier• Assignment Copier• This tool will copy the Assignments selected

from a list and copy them to the groups selected from other sections

Step 10: Printing Gradebook Reports

• Section Attendance Register– This report displays the attendance data for each student for each day in a student by day grid.

• Section Attendance Summary– This report displays the section attendance summary for each student.

• Classbook Blank Spreadsheet Report– This report creates an empty grid with the students you select on the y-axis and blank column headers on the x-

axis. (Prints out a roster in spreadsheet form)

• Missing Assignment Report– This report displays list missing assignments per student. Choose the assignments you'd like to appear in the

report. Those students that have scores with the missing flag set for the assignments you've selected below will appear. Students will also appear as missing an assignment if the due date has past and you selected the assignment below.

• Roster Labels Report– This report displays the roster labels for the enrolled students.

• Section Summary Report– This report displays all selected assignments and students in a grid with the students you select on the y-axis and

assignment headers on the x-axis (Prints out your Gradebook)• Student Assessment Summary Report

– This report lists out students' best test results for each selected test. At lease one test category, test result and test score must be selected to generate the report. The option page will only list tests which was taken by at least one students in current section.

• Student Summary Report– This report returns per student report of assignments that are assigned to the student along with any scores that

the student has received. (Progress reports for your class only)

• Teacher Schedule Report– This report displays the teacher's schedule in the current calendar year
