Paris is the capital city of love… a love for fashion, luxury, gastronomy and so many more pleasures!
It is with love that we take morning walks in the streets of the capital, going from district to district, and let ourselves dream of life as an artist somewhere
around Saint-Germain-des-Prés (p. 74)
At tea time, it is at a heated terrace that we sit down to savour a Saint-Honoré (p.64), smoothened by the fashion conversations that liven up the tables next
to us.Rock, street, couture (p.12) what will be this winter’s trend? It is the question every Parisian girl asks herself. (p.72)… Infatuated, passionate about fashion and beauty (p.34), sentimental, the parisienne dreams
about Givenchy, Dior and Saint Laurent… But her most beautiful love story she shares it with Paris.
Paris Paris, mon amour…

SLIPPERS WERE INVENTED IN THE 19TH CENTURY FOR PRINCE ALBERT, HUSBAND TO BE OF QUEEN VICTORIA, WHOM WISHED TO HAVE INDOOR SHOES THAT WOULD BE COMFORTABLE AND ELEGANT AT THE SAME TIME. THEY QUICKLY BECAME FAMOUS IN ENGLAND AND WHERE NAMED “ALBERT SLIPPERS” AFTER THE PRINCE.
SLIPPERS
21
Formerly worn exclusively by
men, they have now become an
indispensable element to every fashionista’s
wardrobe around the world.
Just nearby the “Musée Rodin”, hidden in an
old Parisian building of the “Rive Gauche”, is where the showroom of THE French brand of women slippers is sheltered:Chatelles Paris.
It is thanks to Francois Chatelles’ creative spirit
that the brand was born.
He redesigned the classic slippers while setting a target to adapt them to the delicacy and curves of female feet and giving them a fashion and timeless aspect. In other words: making the slippers a major piece of feminine dressings.
Chatelles Paris slippers are dainty and elegant, entirely made by hand with the best Italian leather.
A range of twenty designs are presented: ostrich-leather, scales, canvas, suede, patent… and because every fashionista is unique, you can customize your pair of shoes by choosing to add a small coloured pompon or your initials. On a poetic note, a Victor Hugo verse is hidden in every pair of slippers: « Je ne puis demeurer… loin de toi plus longtemps. »*
It’s by appointment and in the comfort and intimacy of a private lounge that you can get a hold of these exceptional slippers. As for us ladies that don’t have time to stroll by the Chatelles Paris showroom, the brand is available on line and is securely shipped worldwide via DHL.
From indoor shoe to “it shoe” there is only one step, and Chatelles has admirably taken the plunge!
*“I cannot remain… apart from you any longer.”
JEWELLERY HAS NEVER BEEN MORE PRESENT IN OUR WARDROBES. THEY GIVE A DRESSED UP DIMENSION TO OUR CASUAL LOOKS. OUR MOST WORN OUTFITS CAN NOW START A NEW LIFE!

FROM THE OCEAN FLOOR TO THE EARTH’S DEPTHS, GOD MADE OF NATURE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOURCE OF GEMSTONES, AND THE HARMONY WE GET BY COMBINING SHAPES AND COLORS DOES NOT LACK IN SUPERLATIVES.
OBSERVE A DIAMOND; THE ROUGH STONE RESEMBLES A SIMPLE PEBBLE THAT NO WOMAN WOULD WANT TO WEAR, BUT MEN MADE OF IT THE OBJECT OF EVERY DESIRE BY CUTTING, SHAPING IT AND MAKING THE POLISHED FACETS REFLECT THE LIGHT IN ORDER TO DAZZLE US.
OBSERVE A PEARL; WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT A MOLLUSK LYING PEACEFULLY IN THE SEABED WOULD MAKE A MARVELOUS PEARL OUT OF A GRAIN OF SAND.
THE JEWELER’S DARING AND GENIUS IS TO WELL MATCH PEARLS AND DIAMONDS IN CREATIONS THAT MAKE THE WOMEN WHO WEAR THEM SUBLIME.

Quickly, Burma became the leader as far as creation and appliqué of the highest traditional techniques of jewelry for synthetic stone jewels are concerned. These jewels, worn by the most elegant women for the last 70 years, allowed the setting up of a successful jewelry collection of precious and semi-precious stones during the last decade.Just the idea that the holly Place Vendome could give the slightest credit to a house like
Burma rose hackles. However, it is said that
Burma is the idea man of a new
interpretation of jewelry: “the novelty jewelry”. Terms like
imagination, originality, eccentricity, whim, desire and humor can be associated to the lexical field of novelty. But what is a jeweler duty-bound to do? What is his task if not to realize the dreams of women whose goal is to appeal to men? Accepting a task of that extent is not easy; it requires the capability to sound out the twists and turns of human feelings. This simple fundamental study states the jeweler’s basis. That is when the theory of relative advantages comes into consideration and it takes the craftsmen and designer’s genius to bring out the gem’s beauty by using their imagination and creativity. It is to this differentiating power that letters of nobility of a big house will be allocated to. Originality in an intensified version leads to eccentricity. But there are no pejorative attributes
THE BURMA HOUSE WAS CREATED IN THE BEGINNING OF THE 30’S AND HAS HAD AN EXPONENTIAL SUCCESS SINCE THEN. ITS RECIPE: A JEWELER’S TRADITIONAL SAVOIR-FAIRE AND AN ADVERTISING AND EVENT COMMUNICATIONS PIONEER THAT USES COMMERCIALS GIVING VOICE TO THE BIGGEST PRE-WAR CELEBRITIES. THIS ECONOMIC MODEL HAS REVOLUTIONIZED THE WORLD OF JEWELRY. MR ZARCATE, PRESIDENT OF BURMA, CONFESSES: “WE OWNED A JEWELER’S SAVOIR-FAIRE WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING IT; TODAY WE PLAN ON MAKING IT KNOWN”.
27
here, on the contrary, only the will to make a woman even more desirable by offering her a unique creation. From then on, Burma is in harmony with what this fantastic novelty world requires.Burma represents creations desired for decades by the biggest celebrities. These creations are set in gold and by hand with semi-precious stones. Burma uses « Burmalites » that are made with zirconium oxide by a complex process.Synthetic stones are the result of a long research that has started the beginning of the 1900’s. Engines made diamonds out of a carbon atom exposed to high temperatures and pressure. This process, developed by General Motors in 1950, is called HPHT. Other chemical methods will see the light of day like CVD for instance. The examination of these Burmalites requires more than an expert’s eye, it requires a non-exhaustive list of laboratory tests in order to be able to distinguish the real diamonds. International regulations allow the sale of this type of synthetic stones only if mentioned.History is now running its course and Burma celebrates its 85th birthday this year. Creations are showcased by Paolo Reversi. Emphasis was placed on black frontage boutiques, with a hushed and prestigious atmosphere all mixed up with creative architecture. The codes of luxury are present and the address is mythical, 16 Rue de la Paix. For its collection Burma surrounded itself by the best talents. Its Creative Director mixes up material, shapes and colors with verve.
In this way, a Burma woman is a typical free and independent Parisian
girl, who can wear jewelry from day to night as she pleases.Burma intensifies its growth and boutiques
open one after the other. It couldn’t come at a better time, 85 years is the uranium wedding; major ingredient of the atomic bomb. Let’s expect that in the years to come, Burma will explode in front of our eyes!
The small IO&ES boutique is hidden in the Place du Marché Saint-Honoré. An address that only true Parisian girls can unearth! The characteristic of this boutique is not the venue itself but the wonders that it offers: customizable products, exclusive and exceptional jewels. The designer, Lucia Ariotti, has her studio set up inside the boutique and the luckiest of you may even get to meet her and talk jewellery.

L’Eclaireur is not like other boutiques, it is a true interactive installation, where every visitor will live a special experience. Additionally to a refined selection of art and fashion, carefully chosen by Armand and Martine Hadida, this concept store is a museum-like venue. Somewhere between scenography and happening, the layout codes are broken in order to give way to a unique space. As part of an amazing cross-disciplinary partnership, this new space also welcomes the famous and long-awaited Microsoft Surface
table in one of its very first integrations in a Parisian venue. At the heart of this venue, a concealed room, the Room-Book signed by the artists of Electronic Shadow. For this room free reign was given to Naziha Mestaoui and Yacine Ait Kaci, who put the jewel in the crown of a creation in the making…

It is in her beauty salon, located near the place Vendôme, that we met THE Parisian Nail’Art specialist: This is Venice or Lili N’Guyen under her real name.
It is while surfing on the Internet that the pretty “parisienne” discovered Nail Art. Colourful, pop and eccentric, it all fits her personality. Out of this artistic love at
first sight was born her desire to become a “Nail Artist”.Two years ago, she gave up everything in order to go into her passion: “At first, I started on myself, then on my sister and my friends, and here we are today; I have my own nail salon and am often requested on private events!”
AS THE NAME SUGGESTS, NAIL ART IS THE ART OF DECORATING NAILS. THIS TREND COMES FROM ASIA, IT IS JAPAN AND KOREA THAT THE FIRST FLASHY COLOURED AND “KAWAII” SHAPES AND DRAWING DECORATIONS WERE SEEN ON WOMEN’S NAILS. THANKS TO THE WEB’S MAGIC, THIS TREND HAS QUICKLY SPREAD AROUND THE WORLD. NAIL ART ALLOWS YOU TO EXPRESS YOUR PERSONALITY THROUGH VARIOUS TECHNIQUES OF NAIL MAKE-UP AND CAN BRING AN ORIGINAL FINISHING TOUCH TO YOUR LOOK.
39
Her inspiration comes from the United States, from California to be exact: “I borrowed my style from “California girls” adding to it a “gangster / hip hop touch” ” says the artist.White cloud on blue sky fond, onomatopoeias, little teddy bears or girly camouflage print, Lily’s universe comes closer to the very pop frames of Andy Warhol.
One thing is for sure, her style is unique and two women will never get out of her salon with the same manicure!

LE SAUVAGE WILL CHANGE ITS MENU IN AUTUMN
The new Chef Antoine Bertho and his assistant Quentin Domange, former members of Joel Robuchon’s team, will take the reins of the kitchen to make of Le Sauvage, the major venue of the 8ème Arrondissement of Paris. A typical chic French bistrot to try out very soon!
THE HOTEL MEURICEOFFERS ITS KITCHEN TO ALAIN DUCASSE
In September, the sublime Parisian hotel located on the Rue de Rivoli will welcome the fa-mous French Chef Alain Ducasse. From Vegas to Hong Kong including Monte-Carolo and Doha, everywhere he goes he seduces. In taking up the reins of the surprising Dali restaurant (redecora-ted with a surrealist soul by Philippe Starck in 2007 and where, according to the NY Times, you can find the best burger in the world!), Alain Ducasse has decided to share his French and contem-porary cuisine – “a cuisine of the essential, at the heart of which you will find taste”. We can’t wait! And wish him good luck!

Imagined in 1863 by Auguste Julien, (whom at the time was a pastry chef at the famous Chiboust located in the Rue Saint-Honoré of Paris), this beautiful pastry has become as much of a cult as it is Parisian.
A puff base garnished with whipped cream and decorated with small creamy caramel-coated choux buns. Let’s just say that the Saint-Honoré is a real jewel cake.
THE

TRELA
DUREE

In 2004, Lenotre modifies the recipe in order to make an exquisitely minimalist Saint-Honoré. Conversely, at La Patisserie des Reves, Philipe Contessini thinks big and makes of this dear to Sunday lunches pastry, a 20 cm long rectangular impressiveness to share with loved ones. At Ladurée, the Saint-Honoré is dressed up with glamorous roses and raspberries. The trend is purple at Des Gateaux et du Pain, where the pastry takes on a very chic appearance; blackcurrant and violet style. We savour it the classic way at Dalloyau, under the guidance of Yann Brys, named “meilleur ouvrier de France” (best worker of France) in 2011, who promises a voluptuous whipped cream crowned by cream choux buns.
As for the Mandarin Oriental, its Saint-Honoré has been renowned from generation to generation in Paris and nearby. That gives us a reason to succumb to this made in Paris delight.
Studious and confidential lunch; in the Library
Bar of the Hotel Saint-James, you can eat
at every hour of day. The menu is simple but
good, and the venue is incredibly stunning.
Here, we travel back in
time. At the heart of this
private mansion nestled
near the Porte Dauphine,
the library is transformed
into a living space and
food is worthy of our
fondest fantasies.
Old books line the walls, and ladders for access
make you daydream. The varnished and
dark wood warms the soul. Entering this den
of ancient beauty, will make you feel you’re
having lunch in one of the most beautiful places
in the world.
At Claus Paris, the breakfast is healthy, elegant and
pure. The Parisian touch; white walls decorated with
exposed stonework, will help you get through the
beginning of the autumn term. We enjoy ourselves
around 5 set menus, from 13 to 39 euros. Fruit juices
are fresh, the jam is organic and the croissants
are always tasteful (which, I agree with you, is rule
number one!) Muesli is prepared the night before
for a better taste, omelets bright up with refined
ingredients and yoghourts are home made.
We enjoy it before going shopping at Christian
Louboutin’s workshop, right across the street,
without forgetting to pass by the grocery shop at
the corner.

Miss KO is the new Asian Food
venue of the year. Opened and
designed this winter by Starck,
it is in a both futuristic (the bar
is made of screens) and cosy
setting that you can enjoy Orient
flavoured virgin cocktails or a
delicious scallop Pad Thai. Sushi
but also burgers (special mention
for the Rossini Kobe Burger!) will be
served, and to make it even better
you can share a giant Bo Bun for 4!
The red carpet in the entrance, the spotlights and
the bouncer make us dress up a little, but not too
much. Here, the atmosphere is relaxed, the new-
york way, we wear jeans and a nice pair of stilettos
or a pretty dress if we fancy doing so. In short, Miss
KO suits all tastes…

Tea-Time the “castle” way. At the Hotel
Daniel, the living room is cozy, delicate
and sophisticated. And at tea-time, the
menu is refined! The pastries are signed
by «La Pâtisserie des Rêves» and we are
offered to taste them the British way;
served with salmon finger sandwiches,
warm scones and pastries as beautiful
as they are tasteful! We go there to
enjoy the venue: the most Orientalist of
Paris Eden’s which offers us a true step
back in time. Exotic and sublime it is
located near the Champs-Elysées. Enter
this cocoon of delicate “chinoiseries”. € 28 a tea-time

IT IS BECAUSE PARISIAN GIRLS HOLD EVERY SECRET OF OUR CAPITAL, THAT INFLUENTE PARIS HAS DECIDED TO MEET FIVE PARISIENNES TO ASK THEM SOME QUESTIONS
INFLUENTE PARIS: WHAT IF YOU HAD TO SUMMARIZE PARIS IN 3 WORDS?JANICE: Gastronomy, Fashion , Architecture.I may sound a little nationalistic, but I believe it would be wrong not to admit that France has one of the best cuisines in the world. We are lucky to have amazing chefs who constantly seek new flavors in
order for us to discover unknown pleasures
and to suit all tastes…

INFLUENTE PARIS: DESCRIBE YOUR FAVOURITE OUTFIT FOR A PARISIAN DAY OR EVENING? JANICE: For a summer day, I would lean towards a mid-length trendy dress with a pair of very simple or gladiator sandals to go with trends. For an evening, I would go for sobriety with dark jeans, a loose top and a pair of pumps with a little clutch as a bag. I think that the “parisienne” mostly tries to combine personal and professional life in her clothing and also tries feeling comfortable in chic but pratical clothes.

INFLUENTE PARIS: WHAT IF YOU HAD TO SUMMARIZE PARIS IN 3 WORDS?SARA : Splendor, beauty, ele-gance
INFLUENTE PARIS: DO YOU KNOW A FRENCH DESIGNER/ BRAND FOR US TO DISCOVER? SARA : My favourite designer is Guillaume Henry, who has been the artistic director of Carven since 2009.
INFLUENTE PARIS: IF YOU HAD TO SUMMARIZE PARIS IN 3 WORDS?PAULINE: It is hard, many words come spontaneously into my mind but I would have to say:• Romantic: for the atmosphere and architecture.• Luxurious: for the numerous Luxury boutiques and its “Capital of Fashion” title.
• Captivating: because Paris always has a surprise in store for you.
INFLUENTE PARIS: WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE PARISIAN DISTRICT AND WHY? PAULINE: Without hesitation the district of Saint-Germain in the 6th Arrondissement ! It is a district filled with history but innovative at the same time.
Within a five minute walk you can go from the Café de Flore, a brasserie where the biggest writers and philosophers gathered around a typical Parisian coffee to set the world to right, to the Germain , which is one of the last establishments of the Costes family where the trendy youth merges with VIPs. As far as shopping is concerned, Paris has it all! There is Le Bon Marché, one of the oldest department stores in Paris, and the Rue de Grenelle which is an essential street for every shoe addict like me. Louboutin, Prada, Sergio Rossi, I never know which way to turn.Last but not least, you have to drop by La Grande Epicerie, I never enjoyed grocery shopping that much! Beautiful vegetable and spice stands and tones of imported products, that are nowhere else to be found in Paris set in a chic and calm atmosphere. I often run into Carla Bruni…
