from another source. Students’ checklists should ask questions that they would ask themselves asthey are reading and searching for information. Their checklist should include boxes that theycan check off under headings such as "yes," "maybe," or "no."

The questions on the checklists should encourage students to look for an website’s source, purpose, and bias or viewpoint.

Another assessment would an assignment for students to create a presentation on any topic but toinclude a detailed bibliography with all of their resources listed. Then have students switch bibliographies and evaluate them. The students would research the information in the presentations and evaluate the bibliography and comment on the resources they used.
