Upgrade from Informatica 9.6.0 in Silent Mode

Silent upgrade from informatica 9.6.0 to Informatica 9.6.1 HotFix 2 fails if you installed Informatica 9.6.0 without entering advanced JDBC parameters.

Workaround: Upgrade Informatica 9.6.0 to Informatica 9.6.1 HotFix 2 in the console mode or the graphical mode.

(CR407764)

Apply and Roll Back the HotFix

When you apply the hotfix, the installer backs up existing directories, installs the new version of the product, and restores or updates required configuration and run-time files.

Informatica provides separate installers to apply hotfixes to the Informatica services and clients. To apply the Informatica hotfix, perform the following steps:

1. Complete the pre-installation tasks.

2. Apply the hotfix to the Informatica services in graphical, console, or silent mode.

3. Complete the post-installation tasks for the Informatica services.

4. Apply the hotfix to the Informatica clients in graphical or silent mode. If you are applying the hotfix to Informatica Developer, verify that the Informatica client hotfix version matches the Informatica services hotfix version.

Note: If the Informatica client hotfix version does not match the Informatica services hotfix version, Informatica Developer cannot connect to the domain.

After you apply the hotfix, you must run the infacmd isp UpdateGatewayInfo command to enable the fixes for POODLE security vulnerability.

When you roll back a hotfix, the installer restores Informatica to the previously installed version. The installer rolls back the hotfix for the Informatica services and clients at the same time.

To apply the Informatica rollback, perform the following steps:

1. Complete the pre-installation tasks.

2. Apply the rollback in graphical, console, or silent mode.

3. Complete the post-installation tasks.

On Windows, you can run the installer in graphical or silent mode. On UNIX, you can run the installer in graphical, console, or silent mode.

Applying the Informatica HotFix

If you accidentally perform the rollback instead of applying the hotfix, you must cancel the rollback and run the installer again to apply the hotfix.

If you accidentally perform the rollback instead of applying the hotfix, the following message appears when you click Install at the Pre-Installation Summary page:

<Informatica Installation Directory>\<server or clients> File/Folder is in use or does not exist. Please close all the processes/applications accessing this folder.

• If you reload a profile model after you upgrade from version 9.5.0, the foreign key inference option for enterprise discovery Use top ranked keys is incorrectly set to -5 instead of 1. You must change the Use top ranked keys value to 1 and perform enterprise discovery. (CR 324819)

Before You Upgrade the Application Services

Viewing the Data Integration Service Components that Require an Upgrade

If you upgrade the domain and then view the Data Integration Service components that require an upgrade before you upgrade any other application services, the Administrator tool incorrectly lists the components that require an upgrade. The service upgrade wizard and the actions menu for the Data Integration Service list the SQL Service and Web Service modules as requiring an upgrade. However, the SQL Service and Web Service modules do not require an upgrade when upgrading to version 9.6.1 HotFix 2.

To work around the issue, upgrade the Model Repository Service, and then view the Data Integration Service components that require an upgrade. After the Model Repository Service is upgraded, the service upgrade wizard and the actions menu for the Data Integration Service list the correct Data Integration Service components that require an upgrade.

(CR 390722)

Upgrading a Data Integration Service

If you run the Model Repository Service and Data Integration Service upgrade commands consecutively in a batch file, the upgrade of the Data Integration Service fails.

To work around the issue, add a small time delay between the service upgrade commands.

399124 A substitution masking session with storage encryption fails when unencrypted values exist in the storage tables.

397704 When you load a single row to an SAP HANA target, the session continues to run even after the PowerCenter Integration Service has written the row to the target.

397639 When you fetch a workflow log using infacmd command or any client that uses the PowerCenter Integration Service, the master gateway shuts down.

394990 When you view a Web Services Hub URL with Internet Explorer 11 and the URL contains a fully qualified domain name, you get a message indicating that the browser version is not supported.

385758 In bulk mode, the PowerCenter Integration Service writes timestamp subsecond values as zeroes to Oracle targets.

381086 When converting date to timestamp and timestamp to date, the getLong API converts the values incorrectly.

376244 After you save changes to a session and run the session again, an incorrect session log appears for previous runs in the Workflow Monitor. This issue occurs when the session log is saved by the number of runs.

365415 Authentication of multiple new users in protected web services takes a long time.

395308 In Windows 8, the Metadata Manager Agent fails to start as a Windows service.

395102 When you load a Business Glossary resource that has double quotation mark characters (") in the category or term descriptions, the load fails.

394174 The Missing Link Details report contains extra entries for unqualified column names.

394173 Vertical scroll bars are sometimes missing from the data lineage diagram.

394172 When you load a Business Glossary resource that contains multiple attributes with the same attribute label, the load fails.

393471 When the Metadata Manager Service synchronizes a related catalog object for a business term in Metadata Manager with the corresponding related asset in the Analyst tool, it sets the related asset description to the business glossary resource description instead of the catalog object description.

CR Description

375943 In the Monitoring tool, the aggregated statistics of an application appear incorrectly for a Data Integration Service. The number of web services and SQL data services running in an application are also incorrect.

375925 If you recycle the Data Integration Service while a Human task creates task instances, the service does not restart the Human task within the resilience timeout period. The issue occurs when you configure the workflow for automatic recovery.

375850 When you run jobs on Internet Explorer 10 on a Windows 2012 machine, the notification state icon freezes.

375811 When you export a scorecard and the Informatica domain runs on a network with Kerberos authentication, the Analyst Service appends the wrong domain name to the host name of the scorecard properties.

375752 The infacmd aud GetPrivilegeAssociation command does not show reports for the Metadata Manager Service or the Reporting Service.

375642 If you back up a domain configured with Kerberos authentication and then restore the domain with the -dk option to disable Kerberos authentication, you cannot change the domain authentication back to Kerberos authentication.

374047 If a Data Integration Service has a name with non-English characters, the notifications of the status of jobs run by the Data Integration Service disappear when you refresh the page in the Monitoring tool.

373794 When you run the infasetup switchToKerberosMode command and the user realm name or service realm name that you specify is not valid, you cannot change the domain configuration.

373197 You cannot revoke user or group permissions to a virtual table when the row level security condition is set for the user or group.

372807 The Administrator tool does not list the HTTP connections of a REST Web Service Consumer transformation.

372740 A user without the Manage Service privilege can upgrade a PowerCenter Repository Service from the Administrator tool.

372359 When you create a security domain with LDAP configuration, the security domain is not listed under the LDAP user name in the Administrator tool.

371854 When you revoke the deny permission for a user or group under the Data Integration Service Application view, the deny permission is not revoked.

368616 The Last Cache Refresh Time filter in the SQL Data Service Virtual Table list view in the Monitoring tool does not work.

367600 When you use the infacmd dis CreateService command to create a Data Integration Service from the command line, the command requires a user name and password for the Model repository. In an Informatica domain that uses Kerberos authentication, the user name and password are not used for authentication.

364585 The Elapsed Time filter does not work in Jobs, Deployed Mapping Jobs, and Deployed Workflow list views in the Administrator tool.

PowerExchange 9.6.1 Release Delayed

The PowerExchange 9.6.1 release is delayed until August 2014. This delay applies to PowerExchange CDC for i5/OS, Linux, UNIX, Windows, and z/OS data sources. It also applies to PowerExchange software for bulk data movement operations that use the PowerExchange Listener to access for i5/OS, Linux, UNIX, Windows, and z/OS data sources. The delay does not apply to the PowerExchange adapters for specific applications except for PowerExchange for JD Edwards World.

Important: Do not install or upgrade the following software until after PowerExchange 9.6.1 is available for installation:

• Any Informatica 9.6.1 or PowerCenter 9.6.1 software that you plan to use with PowerExchange

• JD Edwards World 9.6.1

Otherwise, unpredictable results can occur.

Also, information related to some PowerExchange 9.6.1 changes appears in Informatica 9.6.1 publications released in June 2014. The following changes do not take effect until PowerExchange 9.6.1 is released:

• You can use the PowerExchange Listener displayStatsListener command to print monitoring statistics for a PowerExchange Listener that runs on Windows or z/OS. This command is described in the Informatica Command Reference.

• When you configure the Informatica domain to use Kerberos authentication, you can configure Informatica clients, the Data Integration Service, and the PowerCenter Integration Service to locate a PowerExchange Listener Service in the domain. Include the optional service_name parameter in the NODE statement in the DBMOVER configuration file on the client, Data Integration Service, or PowerCenter Integration Service machine. This change is described in the Informatica Application Service Guide. Previously, you had to use the node_name parameter instead of the service_name parameter.

CR Description

388318 Cannot save the mapping specification if you delete a source that is dependent on downstream transformations such as Join transformations and Lookup transformations.

384582 When you import a glossary from an .xlsx file that contains an existing glossary ID, the Analyst tool does not check for duplicate glossary IDs.

384356 If you edit a rule set in a rule specification that you previously saved and compiled, you might experience problems when you compile the rule specification again.

383969 The Analyst tool generates an error when you update a rule specification and the following conditions are true:- The rule specification has the same primary rule set name as another rule specification in the same folder.- The rule specification reads a reference table, and you update the rule specification to read a different reference table.

383536 You cannot clear all data values from a row of decimal data in a reference table.

383015 When you update and save a task that corrects clusters of duplicate records, the Analyst Service might generate a stack trace.

381801 When you create a reference table from column profile results with a table name that matches an existing table, the warning message on the matching table name continues to appear after you cancel creating the reference table.

381686 If you create a reference table from a profile result, you cannot save the reference table.

381492 If you copy a mapping specification from another mapping specification and you delete columns from the original mapping specification, the duplicate mapping specification might become unusable.

378829 If you create a linked rule statement and you delete the second part of the rule statement, you cannot add a condition to the rule statement. The issue arises when the rule set contains another rule statement below the current rule set.

378633 When you configure a rule specification, you can combine float and integer data types in a condition or an action.

378475 The Analyst tool does not handle line-break characters in a rule specification description as escaped characters.

377934 If you run an enterprise discovery profile in a Kerberos domain, the Analyst tool generates an error in the Data Integration Service log file.

377176 If you have Monitoring privileges but not the permission on the Data Integration Service, you cannot view the Data Integration Service jobs on the Monitoring tab of the Analyst tool.

377048 The Analyst tool generates an error when you try to view or complete a set of linked tasks in a Microsoft SQL Server Human task database.

393641 If the profiling warehouse is on DB2 version 9.5, the Analyst tool fails to send email notifications for a metric score to scorecard users and generates an error message in the Data Integration Service log file.Workaround: Configure email notifications at the metric group level.

393622 You cannot run a column profile on a data object, which includes column names that start with a non-ASCII special character, such as the ampersand, pound, or dollar sign.

393558 In Business Glossary, if the name of a related Metadata Manager catalog object for a business term contains a space as the first character, the corresponding data assets do not get updated in the Analyst tool business glossary. Also, if the name of a related catalog object for a business term contains any of the following characters, the URL in the Analyst tool business glossary does not work:` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) , / \ "

393006 An administrator cannot recycle the Analyst Service if the associated Metadata Manager Service is disabled.Workaround: Enable the associated Metadata Manager Service and then recycle the Analyst Service. Or, remove the Metadata Manager Service from the Analyst Service and recycle the Analyst Service.

392578 An Analyst tool user with the Access from Analyst Tool privilege who does not have the Access from Administrator Tool privilege cannot view the jobs on Job Status workspace.

391855 You cannot open a linked business term if the business term is in the rejected phase.

391845 When you validate a rule specification, the Analyst tool might fail to identify a rule set that is not valid. The issue arises when the following conditions are true:- The rule statements in a child rule set generate outputs in more than one data type.- The parent rule set does not read the output from the child rule set.Workaround: Configure a rule statement in the parent rule set to read the output from the child rule set. When you validate the rule specification, the validation process determines if the child rule set is not valid.

391737 If you move a rule specification multiple times between one folder and another folder in the Model repository, the Analyst tool can generate an internal error.Workaround: Log out and log back in to the Analyst tool before you move the rule specification.

376271 When you deploy an application that contains a large number of objects, the application deployment fails with an out of memory error.

376070 When you configure a Match transformation to write identity index data to database tables, you cannot add the string DT to the storage table names.

376010 A match analysis mapping that writes identity index data to database tables fails on a Solaris 64-bit operating system.

375936 An identity match mapping writes generates incorrect clusters when you select the Clusters - Best Match option and the Filter Exact Match option on the Match transformation.

375769 An identity match mapping generates incorrect clusters when the following conditions are true:- The Match transformation updates the data in a persistent index data store.- The Match transformation input ports use a very high precision value, for example 4000.

375759 When you run an enterprise discovery profile on a data source with few rows, the Developer tool generates an error if the following conditions are true:- The data source has a documented primary key.- You excluded data objects with documented or user-defined keys from the profile run.

375419 When you run an SQL data service that contains a WHERE clause Pushdown to a VSAM source fails.

374824 An identity match mapping generates different numbers of output rows on a Linux operating system and an AIX operating system. The issue occurs when the mapping writes identity index data to database tables and you configure the Match transformation to generate matched pair output.

374766 The REST Web Service Consumer transformation encodes the special characters that you provide in the URL field.

374765 The connection associated with a REST Web Service Consumer disappears when you import a mapping that contains a REST Web Service Consumer transformation.

373891 An identity match mapping takes more time to write data to the identity index database tables as the number of rows in the index tables increases.

370020 If you run a profile on a data source containing Float data type values, the Developer tool displays an incorrect sum of column values and data type inference results. The source columns in the profile results appear with truncated scale values.

368742 An identity match mapping fails to run when you select ports with a date data type or a decimal data type in a Match transformation strategy.

368607 When you run an enterprise discovery profile, the Developer tool generates an error if the following conditions are true:1. You created the profile by enabling all the profile options, such as column profile, data domain discovery,

and enterprise discovery.2. You ran the profile to generate the profile results.3. The Data Integration Service was idle for a long time before you ran the profile again.

368295 A mapping enabled for partitioning contains an IBM DB2 or Oracle relational source, no transformations, and a target. The Data Integration Service uses the maximum parallelism value to create the number of reader and writer threads. However, it uses only one reader thread and one writer thread if partitioning is not supported for the relational source.

367512 The Match transformation can generate empty data fields for pass-through ports.

358466 When a mapping with a Rank transformation runs in a Hive environment, the Data Integration Service can generate incorrect data for the rank index. Rank index values in the first rank group after the first row can be higher than expected based on the Hive queries generated and optimizations applied when you run the mapping.

355294 If you configure a Match transformation to perform dual-source identity analysis, the transformation generates a validation error when one of the following conditions is true:- You configure the transformation input ports in a different order for each data source.- You use an input port in more than one strategy in the transformation.

You can also reassign the connections to the REST Web Service Consumer transformation to use the connections in the destination domain.

387929 In a REST Web Service Consumer transformation, when you read a JSON response with the order indicator for a complex type element as all, the following error occurs if there are multiple instances of an element and the element is a child element of a complex type with the maxOccurs value as unbounded:The maxOccurs of a particle in an 'all' group must be 0 or 1. Workaround: Modify the JSON response schema definition to add the following order indicator: <xs:choice maxOccurs="unbounded">

387899 When the Data Integration Service performs a cached lookup and an uncached lookup on Microsoft SQL Server Uniqueidentifier data types, it does not return the same number of rows.

387884 In bulk mode, Oracle timestamp characters take up 4 additional bytes of storage compared to the actual data length.

387197 In a REST Web Service Consumer transformation, when you select or clear the input or output option of the Map first level hierarchy property, the custom ports that you configured are cleared.

386221 If you define the method output definition for a non-reusable REST Web Service Consumer transformation after you create the transformation, the mapping does not load data to the target.Workaround: Define the method output definition for a non-reusable REST Web Service Consumer transformation when you create the transformation.

384319 You cannot import a WSDL file with two-way SSL authentication through an endpoint URL.Workaround: You can create the Web Service Consumer transformation by importing a locally stored WSDL file with two-way authentication.

380483 You cannot assign a parameter to Maximum Parallelism in the mapping run-time properties because the Assign Parameter dialog box does not list any parameters created for the mapping.

380190 When you search for physical data objects, flat file data objects do not appear in the search result.

375473 When an SQL data service query generates a long WHERE clause, pushdown to the source fails. For example, if an SQL query generates a WHERE clause of 61 KB or higher, pushdown to source fails.Workaround: You can reduce the optimizer level for the query or increase memory for the JVM that runs the Data Integration Service.

CR Description

373751 You cannot list, create, or edit HTTP connections for a REST Web Service Consumer Transformation through the command line.

373679 When a mapping disabled for partitioning writes to a flat file target, the mapping fails when the following conditions are true:- The flat file target is configured to write to a command.- The Merge Command property contains a value, but the Command property does not.Workaround: Configure the flat file target to process target data for a single partition. Select no merge for the Merge Type and enter a command for the Command property.

373213 The changes to the input and output groups and elements of the transformation do not appear in the mapping canvas when a REST Web Service Consumer mapping is open.Workaround: Verify that the field, Map as first level hierarchy, in both input and output of the REST Web Service Consumer transformation is not selected when you save the mapping.

372815 You cannot save a mapping after you edit the non-reusable REST Web Service Consumer transformation in the mapping.Workaround: Verify that the field, Map as first level hierarchy, in both input and output of the REST Web Service Consumer transformation is not selected when you save the mapping.

372581 A workflow fails on a worker node that is in an English locale when the domain is in a Japanese locale. The workflow fails with a license not valid error.

371793 When a mapping contains multiple Match transformations, any change to the settings one of the Match transformations might affect the settings in another Match transformation. The issue occurs when the following conditions are true:- The Match transformations appear in sequence in the mapping data flow.- You configure the Match transformations to write identity index data to database tables.Workaround: Reconfigure the affected Match transformation.

371464 You cannot delete the link from RequestInput Group to Rest_Consumer_Input root element in a REST Web Service Consumer transformation.

368678 If the Data Integration Service becomes unavailable during data preview, the Developer tool continues to display the Run dialog box.Workaround: Cancel the current preview, and then verify that the Data Integration Service is available. Run preview again.

368294 When a mapping enabled for partitioning reads from a partitioned IBM DB2 source, the Data Integration Service does not reuse connection instances when connection pooling is enabled. The Data Integration Service drops each active connection instance instead of releasing it to the pool.

365290 In the Developer tool, test connection fails for a Web Service connection with NTLM authentication.

364086 A mapping enabled for partitioning fails when the mapping has one of the following configurations:- The mapping bulk loads to an Oracle target.- The mapping includes an Update Strategy transformation that flags rows for an update in the target.Workaround: Disable partitioning for a mapping that bulk loads to an Oracle target. Or, disable partitioning for a mapping that includes an Update Strategy transformation that flags rows for an update in the target.

361369 The Data Integration Service does not return an error when the SQL transformation calls a stored procedure with an OleDb connection and the stored procedure does not exist.

CR Description

361213 When you validate a mapping that contains an unconnected SQL transformation, the Developer tool does not generate a validation error.

360592 When you access an Oracle stored procedure from an SQL transformation, the Data Integration Service ignores fraction values for stored procedure parameters.

356755 The Key Generator transformation cannot generate unique sequence ID values in a Hadoop environment.

353486 When you change the precision of a field or change the order of fields in the method output definition, the mapping link in a REST Web Service Consumer transformation is removed.Workaround: Verify that the field, Map as first level hierarchy, in both input and output of the REST Web Service Consumer transformation, is not selected after you save the mapping.

342547 When you create a reference table from profile data in the Developer tool, you can edit the precision and scale for columns that use datetime, bigint, and integer data types.

255827 When you preview a relational data object, the session load summary in the log file does not list the rows rejected while reading data from the database as rejected rows.

235924 The Developer tool can specify a reference table as a parameter. It reads the parameter setting from a different tab based on whether you run the mapping or run a profile on the mapping. When you run the mapping, the Developer tool looks for the parameter on the Parameters tab. When you profile output from a mapping object, the Developer tool looks for the parameter on the Configuration tab.

224341 If you run a mapping that uses the ODBC driver for Microsoft SQL Server to write data to a Microsoft SQL Server resource, the Data Integration Service rejects all records that contain data of type hierarchyid.Workaround: Use the native Microsoft SQL Server driver instead of the ODBC driver.

215419 Mapping generates a core file on Solaris 64-bit if you enable Truncate Target Table for an IBM DB2 9.5.x target and you set the number of rows you want to preview to 0.
