1. About the University

The North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon was established on 15 th August, 1990 under the

Maharashtra University Act (No.XXIX) of 1989, to establish and promote facilities for advanced and applied

education in North Maharashtra region. In the area of higher education, the North Maharashtra University

has achieved a distinctive place during the period of last 23 years. The University has 176 affiliated

Colleges and 37 recognized institutions. University is re-accredited and awarded B grade with 2.88

CGPA by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore in 2009. North Maharashtra

University is recently ranked at 40th position among Indian Universities for the year 2013 according to

India Today - Nielsen Survey.

Prof. Sudhir U. Meshram is the Vice-Chancellor of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. He

has obtained his Ph.D. Degree in Microbiology from IARI, New Delhi and did Post Doctorate from Holland.

He has established Rajiv Gandhi Biotechnology Centre in RTMU, Nagpur. He is associated with a number

of bodies as a Advisor and Expert. He has organized several National and International Conferences

successfully. He has more than 25 years of administrative experience.

The University offers various innovative academic programmes in the faculties of Science, Art,

Engineering and Technology, Commerce and Management, Humanities and Social Sciences ensuring

bright career prospects and opportunities in the academics and industries. It is a matter of pride that 13

Schools in the university campus have established themselves as centers of academic excellence over

the years which offers various Graduate, Post Graduate, M.Phil. and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programmes. The

Schools are well equipped with modern laboratories. Most of the courses are industry oriented and

students are getting jobs in appropriate fields.

The University campus is spread over 650 acres of land on a hilly terrain, 11 km away from the

city of Jalgaon and on the western bank of the river Girna. Three districts viz. Jalgaon, Dhule and

Nandurbar fall under the jurisdiction of the University. The region has its own rich cultural and tribalheritage. While developing the site, the University has taken utmost care to preserve natural fabric of

hilly terrain. Beautifully designed spacious buildings have been constructed to serve academic,

administrative and residential purposes. More than two lakh trees have been planted to conserve the

natural beauty and environment of the campus, for which the university was selected for the Vanashree

Award - 2000 by Government of Maharashtra and Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra (IPVM) Award

- 2002 by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Recently the University

has initiated an ambitious programme Lab - to - Land targeting small and marginal farmers group

who will be provided biotechnologically developed knowhow, training, consultancy and quantity inputsfor improving productivity and yield in their land.

3. Eligibility Criteria= General Criteria :

A candidate is considered to be eligible for admission to the post graduate coursesoffered by various Schools of the University if he/she has secured at least 50% (or equivalentCGPA) marks at graduation (45% marks for backward class i.e. SC/ST/DT/NT/OBC/SBC

category candidates from Maharashtra State). In case of other University candidate, preference will be given to students having principal subject at B.Sc. over B.Sc. general.

2. If candidate wish to get admission for any one of the specialization for M.Sc. (Chemistry) he/she should mention application for M.Sc. (Chemistry) only on application form. Do notmention the desired specialization. Specialization will be decided at the time of Spot

Admission. Similar case is applicable for M.Sc. (Physics).

3. If a candidate wishes to apply for two or more subjects in different groups then he/sheshould submit separate application form for each group. For example : suppose candidate

wish to get admission for M.Sc.(Chemistry) or M.Sc. (Biochemistry) or M.Sc. (EnvironmentalScience) then candidate should submit three separate application forms.

4. Candidate should attach only attested true copies of First, Second and Third Year graduation examination's Marksheets, H.S.C. Certificate, S.S.C. Certificate, Transfer Certificate (T.C.), Caste Certificate and Non Creamy Layer Certificate (For NT1, NT2,NT3, VJNT/DT and OBC Categories).

7. Mode of Admission

The admission to the various courses will be made through the Spot Admission Process(SAP) to be carried out by the concerned Schools of the North Maharashtra University.

Stages of Admission Process

Stage - I : Prerequisites -

= Read the brochure instructions carefully.

= Before proceeding for filling up the admission form ensure the following :-

(a) You have drawn D.D. worth Rs.300/- in favour of 'The Finance & Accounts Officer,North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon' . The D.D. may be drawn on Nationalizedor Scheduled banks.

(b) You have collected the required documents i.e. H.S.C., F.Y., S.Y. & T.Y. Marksheetsto fill your Marks/CGPA.

(c) Visit the link www.nmu.ac.in/onlineadmission/instructions.aspx= Fill up the on line admission form as per the given instructions.

= After submitting the on line form, your user ID would be generated by the system along with the form Number.

= PLEASE NOTE THE USER ID, PASSWORD and FORM NO. for future reference.

= A mail box would be created for you on the website for further correspondence.

= Print the application form and attach the attested photo copies of necessary documentsalong with the Demand Draft. Paste your passport size recent photograph on application

and submit the completed form to the concerned University Schools or send it by postsuperscribing "M.Sc. Admission Form in .............(Subject) to the Director of theconcerned School.

= You can periodically check the status of your admission form by logging on to the websitewww.nmu.ac.in using your user ID & password.

= In case of any discrepancy/deficiency in the application form/attached documents, youare required to comply the deficiencies to the concerned Schools before the last dateto submission of application form.

Stage - II : Display of Merit List -

= The groupwise or subjectwise general merit list for eligible candidates will be generatedon the basis of their performance at the graduation as per eligibility criteria.

= The subjectwise general merit list will be available on the website as well as your meritnumber will be informed in yourmail box and on the University website also it will bedisplayed on the notice board of the respective University School.

= The tie cases of the candidates will be resolved on the basis of (i) total marks/CGPA of second & third year at graduate level, (ii) on the basis of first year marks/CGPA, (iii) onthe basis of marks obtained at H.S.C. and finally (iv) on the basis of date of birth of thecandidates.

= The subjectwise general merit list will NOT be published in any newspaper or will

NOT be communicated to any candidate personally by post.= If the candidate has any objection related with the merit list, he/she may submit his/

her objection with proper documents in written form to the concerned Schools of theUniversity within specified time limit.

Stage - III : Allotment of Seats (Spot Admission)

= As per the schedule of Spot Admission, the eligible candidates should report in time at the

Schools of the University with all original certificates and two attested photo copies

of all certificates needed to substantiate the claims made in the Application Form for

admission regarding the eligibility.

= The seat will be allotted as per the merit list and availability.

= The dates for spot admission to affiliated colleges and University schools are different.

= The venue of the spot admission for different subjects will be concerned Schools of the

University.

= The candidate who has been allotted the seat is required to remit the complete amount

of fees on the date of Spot Admission only. The candidate should submit the admission

form along with the original certificates on the date of Spot Admission. Also candidate

will have submit eligibility form within one week.

= The original certificates will not be returned to any candidate once admitted to a course

at the respective Schools of the University unless the candidate cancels his/her

admission. All original certificates will be verified by the authorities of the concerned

Schools for the purpose of eligibility and returned to the candidate in the due course

of time.

9. Rules for Admission

a) Distribution of Seats :

1. For University Schools (Admission through spot admission process) :

Candidates graduated from North Maharashtra University - 90%

Candidates graduated from other Universities - 10%

2. Industry sponsored seats :

In addition to existing seats for all courses 5 extra seats are allotted for the

industrial sponsored candidates.

Admission procedure for Industry Sponsored Candidates :

1) After the second round of Spot Admission Process, candidates with industrysponsorship may apply to respective School of the University under the industry sponsored quota with a letter of sponsorship from the industry.

2) Admission under industry sponsored quota will be done purely on the basis of meritlist prepared separately.

b) Reservation for Backward Class category Candidates :

The percentage of seats reserved for Backward Class category candidates as per

the rules of Government of Maharashttra State is as below :

2. All the candidates claiming the reservation for backward classes should produce "Caste

Certificate" in the name of the candidate issued by the Executive Magistrate/Metropolitan

Magistrate in Maharashtra State clearly mentioning the Category of the candidate and also

the remark that the caste is considered as backward class in the state of Maharashtra at the

time of submission of the Application Form. Failing which, the candidate will not be able to

claim for that category of caste.

3. Scheduled Tribe candidates must produce Caste Validity Certificate at the time of spot

admission.

4. Candidates belonging to VJ/DT, NT1, NT2, NT3, OBC, SBC categories should produce "Non

Creamy Layer Certificate" issued after 1 st April, 2013 and/or valid upto 31 st March, 2014

by Sub Divisional Officer/Deputy Collector of the district in addition to the caste certificate.

In case the candidates are not able to produce the Non Creamy Layer Certificate uptothe time of spot admission such candidates will be treated as OPEN category

candidates.

5. 3% seats out of total sanctioned intake capacity of University Schools as a whole are reserved

for physically handicapped candidates. The candidate should attach the certificate and will

be allotted to the branches as per merit and choice. (Maximum one to each course).

6. 2% seats out of total sanctioned intake capacity of University as a whole are reserved for

wards of persons serving in Defense and Ex-Servicemen . The candidate should attachthe certificate and will be allotted to the branches as per merit and choice. (Maximum one

to each course).

7. If sufficient candidates from North Maharashtra University area are not available for

admission for various post graduates courses, candidates from other Universities will be

considered. Similarly if candidates from other Universities are not available for admission,

the candidates from North Maharashtra University will be considered for admission. There

will be separate merit list for other University students.

8. The candidate once admitted in first year of post graduate course shall not be allowed for

transfer to any other PG Centre in the first and second year of the course.

9. Any change from Government side in terms of reservation policies for backward classes

before the completion of admission procedure will be taken under consideration.

10. The University reserves the right to make the necessary changes in any academic

programmes, admission rules and admission schedule.

11. Candidate once admitted through industry sponsored quota will not be allowed to shift to

general quota under any circumstances.

12. Cancellation of Admissiona) No candidate will be allowed to cancel his/her admission without paying complete fees

of the course for which he/she got admitted.b) The candidate cancelling his/her admission within a period of seven days from the date

of his/her spot admission, deduction to the tune of 10% of total amount of tuition fees

in addition to the amount of Rs.500 will be made.c) The candidate cancelling his/her admission within a period of 30 days from the date

of his/her spot admission, deduction to the tune of 25% of total amount of tuition feesin addition to the amount of Rs.500 will be made.

d) The candidate cancelling his/her admiss ion after 30 days from the date of admission, refund towards any kind of fees will not be made.

e ) No refund will be made to any candidate admitted through industry sponsored quota.
