Innovint Aircraft Interior GmbH was founded in 1977. Thiswas the beginning of a world-leading company in theaircraft interior and equipment market.

EASA Production Organisation Approval

Under the legal jurisdiction of the NationalAirworthiness Authority (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt,LBA) Innovint was awarded the Production Organisation Approval 1999.This approval indicated a milestone in thecompany history. Today it contains the EASA rating in section C1for cabin interior appliances .

As an OEM and supplier to the international aviation industry Innovint performs under astrict quality management. Standards and procedures described in our qualitymanagement handbook ensure that all products meet the specifications of each individualcontract.

The quality management system comprises the EN 9100 requirements and mostimportantly the regulations of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and theFederal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well.

Independent product developments are thebasis of our success.

Extensive know-how and many years ofexperience with regards to cabin systems,product integration, handling by the cabincrew have led to a world-wide reputation ofour products by airframe manufacturers andairlines.

Regarding new developments we focus on thepassenger comfort and safety. Among otherwell-known products are baby bassinets oron-board wheelchairs for disabled travellers.Our most recent product is a child restraintsystem ensuring for the first time the safetransport of infants.

During the product development phase intensive co-operation with our customers enablesas a result fine tuned products to the benefit of the passenger and the cabin crew.Apart from the transfer of customer specifications into products, supported with thenecessary substantiation, tests, and series production, Innovint offers mock-up andmodelling as well.

Innovative Solutions

In design and development we give priority toinnovative solutions for our products and themanufacturing processes.

One example is the application of the ‘Quick ChangeTrack Lock’ System (QCTL). The peculiarity is thequick operation of the locks. They have no looseparts and there is no need of any tools for mountingand dismounting nor the requirement of trainedpersonnel. Cabin items such as doghouses,bulkheads and privacy compartments are securedwith one lock-unlock actuating unit on the seat track,all studs lock-unlock simultaneously.For corresponding applications the use of the QCTLleads to highly flexible cabin layouts. The turnaround time for maintenance, repair and layoutchanges is reduced to a fraction of the timepreviously required.

Within the scope of a research and developmentprogram together with the chair Polymer Engineeringof the Technical University of Hamburg we study newprocesses for the application of the Resin TransferMolding (RTM). RTM components are already in usein airframe structures. Our aim is to optimize theprocess and material composition in order to meetthe requirements for use of this technology in theaircraft cabin, related to fireworthiness, stability, andweight. The optimized RTM process enablesinnovative design opportunities at reducedproduction costs.

The machinery is located in our plant. A two-component automatic proportioner injection unit, aheating- and drying furnace, and a 4-pillar upstrokepress are at our disposal for this program.

Manufacture and Verification

The products designed and manufacturedaccording to the highest quality standardsmust be verified by appropriate tests. Innovintfulfil the requirements for the substantiation,set forth by airframe manufacturers andairworthiness authorities for new parts,conversions and maintenance work.

Backed-up with agreements between Innovintas Approved Production Organisation and theOEM-Customer as Approved DesignOrganisation, we facilitate a straightforwardinstallation as well as the final approval withthe corresponding aircraft type.

For the approval procedure, allnecessary strength analysisand tests are carried out atInnovint. With our universaltest jig we can test cabin itemsup to a load factor of 5 tons.

The fireworthiness tests forflammability, smoke density,toxicity, heat release etc. arecarried out externally inlaboratories approved byaviation authorities. Sameapplies for the tests accordingto RTCA/DO-160D for theenvironmental conditions.

The DFC Decorative Film Coating® -system allows to equip nearly all kind of cabin interiors with anindividual pattern. This system opens new horizons for the VIP interiors and for the commercialairline cabin e.g. in the first- or business class.

Nearly all kind of shapes can be decorated. Rolled edges, complex angles, sharp curves - all areeasily and thoroughly covered using this process. Inlaid work, arms and logos can be embedded tothe coating. A clear topcoat is applied at the end of the process to obtain the desired surface glossand durability.

The Decorative Film Coating® meets all fireworthy requirements regarding EASA/FAR 25.853 forflammability, smoke density, toxcicity and heat release.

The safe transport of children in passenger aircraft is a high priority for parents, airlines and airworthi-ness authorities.

Before coming to market the Innovint Child Restraint System had been in development for several years. In this time our 35-years experience of working in the aircraft interiors � eld provided dividends. The Child Restraint System seat is approved by EASA TSO according to the natio-nal standard LBA-NTS-1 and corresponds to the Aerospace Standard SAE AS5276/1 and the TSO-C100b by the FAA.

The � exible utilisation is a bonus for airlines. The Innovint child’s seat is simple to use. With the help of the normal passenger lap belt the seat can be secured to all common aircraft seats. Not in use it folds together into an easily stowed size.

In accordance with general transport regulations babies weighing up to 10 kg must be secured fa-cing against the � ight direction. Children up to 25 kg are secured facing the � ight direction. Fasten-ing is similar to that found in a car by means of a5-point-harness, within seconds a baby seat can be transformed into a child’s seat.

Where to stow the on-board wheelchair aboardan airplane is always a big question. The bestlocation in general is the space behind the lastseat row next to the galley, lavatory, or classdivider. Innovint offers several solutions.

Customized according to the seat layout astowage can be installed behind the last seatrow. The stowage functions like a dog house andis available for lateral or center installation. Thecenter stowage will have on the one side anadditional compartment for miscellaneous cabinequipment.

A less cost intensive alternative is a stowagerack. The L-back shell is made of aluminumhoneycomb and covered with a canvas coverwhich can be opened by a zipper. The on-boardwheelchair is fastened inside with an addtionalbelt.

If space can be made available in existingstowage compartments, a protective bag andstrap assy for fastening can be provided.

Folding tables may be installed on the wall of alavatory, stowage or on a partition, to provide theattendants with an additional worktop.

Innovint offers two principle designs:

folding table next to the cabin attendant seat.The table consists of a honeycomb structurecovered with a polycarbonate cover. The table issecured by two latches in the up position. Theload limit is 10 kg, handling load is 70 kg.

Pax Bag Life Vest is installed under the seat cushion of the pax seat and is attached to the seat structure by four tie raps. The length and the position of the release strap may be adjusted to the front edge of the seat structure.

Pulling the release strap in horizontal forward or slightly upward or downward direction, the tear seam will break and the life vest is reachable for the passenger.

The bag is made of a soft transparent plastic ma-terial, and can be easily inspected and maintained due to a sealable zipper. The release strap is availa-ble in yellow or red colour.

Universal Precaution Kits PNR 6240-10X are re-quired on board according to ICAO standard Annex 6 Operation of Aircraft. Innovint adopted the UPKs to its medical emergency equipment product line and offers three different con� gurations.

The standard UPK is available in a soft robust can-vas bag out of the „InnoBag product-line“. This allows an easy stowage throughout the cabin, contributes to a real weight reduction, and � ts into an ATLAS standard drawer. Alternatively it can � t in our standard aluminum kit with matching bracket for installation.


The PNR 6240-10 is the „Long Range“ version and takes, regarding the quantity con� guration of the contents, the larger number of crew members into account. Also for the UPK long range version mat-ching installation brackets are available.On top of the ICAO Standard we offer customized versions, either taking customer requirements into account, or adapt to national regulations regarding the content of the UPK.

Pax Bag Life Vest is installed under the seat cushion of the pax seat and is attached to the seat structure by four tie raps. The length and the position of the release strap may be adjusted to the front edge of the seat structure.

Pulling the release strap in horizontal forward or slightly upward or downward direction, the tear seam will break and the life vest is reachable for the passenger.
