On September 20, 2020 Main Line Health will upgrade Epic to provide the latest features to improve

StoryBoard Basics

• Storyboard lets you quickly review a patient's story at a glance, hover to see more detail,

and click to jump to common activities, like Allergies.

• Your Activity Tabs will now appear across the top of the screen.

• Data can be refreshed by right clicking and selecting “Refresh”

• Data will refresh in the Storyboard when the chart is closed; and be seen when chart

re-opened.

A. Glance to review key patient information in Storyboard, including:

• Name, age, and date of birth

• Code status

• Infections, isolations, and allergies

B. Hover over the attending provider information to see the patient's full treatment team.

Activities and Navigators Across the Top

Any activities that don't fit in your horizontal activity tabs now appear under a new overflow

menu tab {Three dots} (A)

Example: The horizontal activity tabs will be compressed when you have the side bar open.

Your additional activities still appear under the More menu arrow (B).

Shortcuts to Activities in Patient Lists

Access your most used activities directly through the Patient List tray.

Update Expected Discharge Dates (EDD) from Patient List (see icons)

Double-click to update EDD. Up-to-Date: if a patient's EDD was updated 0-18 hours ago, a green check appears next to EDD. Update Needed: if a patient's EDD was updated 18-36 hours ago, a white clock appears next to EDD. Update is Overdue: if a patient's EDD was updated more than 36 hours ago, a yellow clock next to EDD. If the EDD has not changed in the past 18+ hours, click "Mark as Reviewed" to show that it's up to date.

Order Medications As “Held” in Admission Medication Reconciliation When you are reconciling orders for admission, you can now place them on hold when you order

them with the Order and Hold button. To place all unreconciled orders on hold at the same time,

click Order and Hold Unselected.

Share Discharge Summary Notes with Patients in MyChart

Give patients transparency in their care by sharing your Discharge Summary Notes with them. You must click

the Share w/ Patient button to make a note visible in MyChart when you want to share it. In the past, Discharge

Summary Notes were always shared.

If there is a narrow window, only the icon will display.

Provider Finder Now Appears When Entering Orders on Behalf of Others

(Mid-Levels and Residents)

It's easier to search for an ordering provider or authorizing provider. Use the sidebar to filter by

specialty. Click the star to save the providers you work with most often as favorites.

Add Contact Information When Submitting a Help Desk Ticket through Epic

Whenever you submit a Help Desk ticket through Epic, specify a contact person and phone

number for follow-up.

Reconcile Orders on the Fly Use when Discharge Medication Reconciliation is Complete, and you are placing new orders. Note: This does not apply to signed and held orders as in Discharge Readmit or Surgical Discharge Navigators.

When discharge medication reconciliation is already done for a patient, you can quickly reconcile new orders you place in Manage Orders. Click Don't Prescribe At Discharge to reconcile the orders with one click. If you need to document a different reconciliation decision, Click Reconcile After Signing to open the medication reconciliation navigator when you're done in Manage Orders. In discharge medication reconciliation, the newly unreconciled order is highlighted.

To access the Epic Playground, follow the link below:

1. If the computer you are using does not have Citrix installed you will need to call the

help desk at 1-484-596-4357.

2. Click the portal hyperlink (above) which takes you to the NetScaler log in screen.

3. Log in with your MLHS ID and password.

4. Open the Epic Training Folder

5. Select the Epic PLY icon.

6. Log in as a Department of Medicine Provider with the following credentials

User ID: IM01 (may also use IM02 through IM20)

Password: train

Log in as a Surgical Provider with the following credentials

User ID: SUR01 (may also use SUR02 through SUR20)

Remote Access to Playground

To access the Epic Playground, follow the link below:

1. Click the portal hyperlink (above) which takes you to the NetScaler log in screen.

2. Log in with your MLHS username and password.

3. Multi-Factor Authentication will send a text message to your cell phone with a code.

NOTE: If you have not set up Multi-Factor Authentication, instructions can be found

here: https://www.mainlinehealth.org/employees/multi-factor-authentication-

registration

4. Open the Epic Training Folder

NOTE: If you do not see the “Epic Training” folder, please call the Help Desk at

484.596.4357 and request that they add your user id to the “Epic-Playground Active

Directory Group”.

5. Select the Epic PLY Hyperspace icon.

7. Log in as a Department of Medicine Provider with the following credentials

User ID: IM01(may also use IM02 through IM20)

Password: train

Log in as a Surgical Provider with the following credentials

User ID: SUR01(may also use SUR02 through SUR20)

Password: train
