The meeting discussed the merits of expanding Cricket Green School, with the council setting out the strategic need to provide more places, particularly
for children with MLD and ASD
The on-line survey was sent to all parents with children with an EHCP, headteachers and SENCOs with a Merton placement, and professionals. It
sought views on existing provision and future needs.

Kids First (charity in Merton for parents
with SEND children)
Meeting with parents on 8 February
2018 to outline the council's
immediate plans for SEN places
The presentation outlined the dramatic increase in SEN statements/EHCPs, and that the greatest rise was ASD and MLD. Although the council had
increased 'in house' provision in recent years there had still been a big increase in independent placements. The planned expansion of Perseid
secondary/post 16 expansion by a further 28 places and the upcoming statutory proposal for Cricket Green was discussed. Parents queried whether
this was sufficient and questioned more details on Cricket Green, which the council confirmed would be part of the statutory consultation.
