LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Researchers must tap and present the RFIC in the library

borrowing and returning of books.

2. Bags are deposited at the baggage area and bring their

personal belongings such as money, jewelleries, and other

valuable items/ materials. The library is not responsible for any

losses.

3. Leave the books on the table after its use or return it to the

circulation and information area, librarians and ;library staff.

4. Stealing, tearing of pages of the books, periodicals and other

printed materials are strictly prohibited.

5. Handle books and periodicals, multi-media equipment and

materials with care.

6. Put your electronic gadget in silent mode upon staying in the

library.

7. Silence should be observe properly inside and outside the li-

brary premises.

8. Eating and other activities that will distract other researchers

are not allowed.

9. Researchers from different public and private institutions,

schools, college and universities should present referral letter

and researchers fee payment. (OR from the finance office).

10. Keep the library premises clean and in order.

Limited Physical Face to Face Borrowing and Returning of Books

How to Borrow Books

Borrowing by proxy and authorization letter is not allowed. Each borrower is re-

sponsible for all the books drawn in his/her name.

1. Present your Library Card at the counter.

2. Fill up the book card given to you for proper charging.

3. Students with overdue books or outstanding accounts will not be allowed

to borrow.

How to Return Books

All borrowed materials are subject to be recalled upon

expiration of the loan period or signing of clearance.

1. Present the book at the loan counter for discharging.

2. If the book is overdue, the student will pay the computed amount of fines.

3. Claim your Library Card.

*Damage on Returned Book(s) – any damage on returned book is charged to the

borrower.

*Lost Book – the borrower will be required to replace it with a material by the

same author, title and edition, or pay the full cost involved in replacing the lost

book.

Borrowing Policies

A. Borrowing of Books

Step 4: Type your search into the search box and click the

search button.

Step 5: Your search results page will display. Click on the title

of any article of your choice to get to the Article Information

Step 6: At the Article Information page you will find the: author/s,

journal name, volume, issue, page numbers, publication date,

etc.

1. All officially enrolled students with library card are entitled to borrow books

from the library.

2. Books may be checked out from the library at the time the library card is

issued.

3. All Administrators, Faculty, and Non-Teaching Personnel are authorized to

borrow books upon the issuance of the master card.

4. Each borrower is responsible for books charged out under his/her name.

5. Borrowing privileges is non-transferrable.

6. Graduate school students are allowed to borrow 5 books at a time for a peri-

od of 1 week and can be renewed if the books are not in demand.

7. Undergraduate students may borrow 4 books at a time for 3 days and can

be renewed if the books are not in demand.

8. Administrators, Faculty, and Non-Teaching Personnel are allowed to borrow

8 books at a time from General Circulation for 2 weeks and can be renewed f

or 1 semester if the books are not in demand.

9. SHS students may check out 1 book from the General Circulation for over-

night use and must return the book the following day. Books from Graduate

School Collection may only be read inside the library premises.

10. Reserved books may be borrowed for overnight use, from 4:00 p.m.—6:00

p.m., and must be returned on or before 8:00 a.m. the following day.

Online Borrowing and Returning of Books

Objective

To ensure the safety and information needed by the students and personnel are provided by the library in accordance to the COVID-19 IATF protocols and new nor-mal.

Scope This work instruction is applicable in borrowing and returning of books by the stu-dents / personnel.

1. Librarian / library staff

B. Borrowing of AV Materials and Equipment

1. The faculty and personnel should have an AV Materials Borrower’s Card for

borrowing audio-visual materials.

2. The borrower should sign the borrower’s card when borrowing and returning

of materials.

3. Borrowing privileges is non-transferrable.

4. Use the requisition form when borrowing AV equipment.

5. Request for AV equipment must be submitted at least 2 days prior to the

actual use.

6. The borrower is obliged to report right away any changes in the request.

7. Transferring the equipment or passing to another user without the AVMC

Staff’s consent is Not Allowed.

8. Malfunctioning or non-operational equipment should be reported immediate-

ly.

9. All equipment issued should be the responsibility of the borrower and must

be properly retrieved/returned to the library. If the equipment is lost, stolen,

broken, or damaged the borrower is responsible for the full cost of repair or

replacement.

C. Others

1. Photocopying of dissertations, theses, feasibility studies, research projects,

narrative reports is strictly prohibited.

1. Severely damaged books or lost books should be replaced by the borrower with the

same book (same author, title and latest edition of the book) in case the book is out -of-

print, the borrower will pay the book’s retail price within one (1) month of having lost it.

A processing fee/handling fee and any accumulated fines are charged as well.

*The payment for the book shall be computed as follows:

Example:

Php 1,208.00 - price of the book

+ Php 50.00 - accumulated fine

Php 500.00 - processing fee

Php 1,758.00 - Total

2. The amount paid for the lost book may be refunded if the lost book is found and

returned within the immediate succeeding term upon presentation of the receipt of pay-

ment. After this period, no refund shall be allowed.

3. Borrowers who underline, deface, mark, and/or cut out from any library material will

be charged the full cost involved in replacing the damaged/lost book.

4. Clients who intentionally damage equipment in the Audio-Visual Multimedia Center

will be held accountable through replacement or payment.

Cases of Suspension of Library Privileges

1. No borrower with overdue books or with outstanding obligations with the library will be

allowed to borrow books unless all library accounts are settled.

2. Library privileges of borrower that have been found violating library policies are sus-

pended in accordance with the gravity of offenses.

a. Using somebody else’s Library Card

First offense - warning

Second offense - confiscation and suspension of Library Card of both the lend

er and borrower for a week

Third offense - suspension of library privileges for 2 weeks

b. Theft and mutilation of books

First offense - suspension for a week and replacement of the book

Second offense - suspension for a month and replacement of the book

Third offense - suspension for the whole semester and replacement of the book

Third offense - suspension for a month and a recommendation from the

Chief Librarian for the student concerned to attend a session of counsel

ling in the Guidance or report to the Coordinator of Student Affairs for

further guidance.

d. Eating and drinking inside the library

First offense - warning

Second offense - reprimand

Third offense - suspension for a week

Clearance

Signing of clearances will start as announced. The borrower should

present the clearance and Library Card.

During this period, books and other library materials maybe borrowed

for library use only.

Once cleared, borrowing privileges for the remaining school days will be

suspended.

For students who are already cleared but with completion needs and

use of library materials is needed, they have to present their ID’s and

clearance. Books to be borrowed are for library use only.

Computer Units Utilization

1. Library clientele must log-in first before using any computer units.

2. Use/inserting of Flash Drives for encoding, editing, and printing is strictly prohib-

ited.

3. Facebook, messenger or any social networking sites is not allowed. Strictly for

research purpose only.

4. Patrons are encouraged to use e-mail for sending and sharing files and docu-

ments.
