Interactive Technology in Collaborative Classroom learning: Practice, Tools and
Assessment
Presented By: Md. Ataur Rahman
Introduction
• Collaborative learning is an active, problem-centred approach to teaching and learning (Ashley Deal, 2009)
• Collaborative learning has diverse meaning depending on which sector we are talking about
• Largely it is used in • Elementary school • Higher Secondary School• University• Vocational training• Professional coaching
• In short, Collaborative learning involves joint intellectual effort by groups of students who are mutually searching for meanings, understanding, or solutions (Smith and MacGregor, 1992).
Interactive technology in Collaborative Learning
• Interactive technology has been applied to collaborative learning for last couple of decades now.
• There seems to be widespread expectation that ICT, by• The very nature of the medium, provides
interactiveexperiences for learners• The reason interactive technology have been applied to this
sector are Speed; Automaticity; Capacity; Range; Provisionally; Interactivity ((DfEE 1998a)

Aims of this research
Aims of my research is to address three questions
What are collaborative technologies? (what do they do and what different forms do they take?)
How have they been used in educational/learning contexts?
How successfully? (is there any evidence of benefit to learning?)
Why this topic?
Because there a lot of issues to address
I found the both teaching and technology interesting
I worked in this area previously
Findings (so far)
Findings from literature review has been interesting so far
• Use of technology in collaborative learning shifted the focus from teaching centred education to student-centred education (S. Kennewell et al. , 2007).
• Culture has a big role in collaborative learning and technology has be culturally adapted (Economides, 2008)
• Technology with immediate feedback mechanism are found to be more effective than others (Koile, 2006)
• Not many talk about cost of the systems.
Conclusion
It is yet a controversial topic that whether use of technology inside the classroom does help student learn better or not
To many researchers key to effective learning process still in the hand of the teacher
Moreover, some evidence of better learning has already been presented in many papers
Thank You
