• The hospital started as a 500-bed facility in 1918 when the post was known as Camp Bragg.

• Today, the hospital serves more than 202,000 eligible beneficiaries in the region

• Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Podiatry residencies as well as Family Medicine

• USUHS and HPSP medical students and rotating PA Students train together

Family Medicine Residency

• Received second consecutive 4-year RRC accreditation in September 2009

• Provides an outpatient medical home for over 20,000 patients and inpatient support for over 100,000 soldiers and beneficiaries.

• The Army’s largest Family Medicine Training Program with 30 slots fortrainees and 10 full time faculty– PGY1 – 10

• WAMC has the busiest labor deck in all of DOD

• Averaging 300+ babies born per month

• Unopposed program

• All residents graduate with Advanced Life Support for Obstetrics (ALSO) training

Pediatrics at Womack

• Inpatient Ward, Outpatient Clinic, Nursery, and NICU for 22 weeks total training

• All residents certified in NRP and PALS

• Residents perform call-duties for Pediatrics service

• Active program in clinical research.– Resident research has received top honors two years

consecutive years from the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians Scientific Assembly.

• Womack Department of Research hosts Annual Research Symposium to showcase work of Family Medicine, Podiatry, and OMFS staff and residents

• Research electives available

• Hospital Librarian and Statistician available to assist residents with research

Womack is a very family oriented residency.We have annual residency retreats, annual class retreats, and throw social gatherings on a regular basis.You will not have to worry about never seeing your spouse or children.
