    Dumbo octopuses - named for their likeness to the Disneyelephantcharacter. They live deep down in the ocean and and canbe found at depthsranging from 400 metres down to as much as 4,800

    metres. They hover ashort distance above the sea bed while they look for prey.Eighteen speciesof dumbo octopuses have so far been discovered.

    Narwhals - live in the Arctic sea. They live in groups calledpods. These podscan have up to 2,000 members. Narwhals not living in a

    family pod oftenseparate by age group and sex. Narwhals have a layer offatty tissue,called blubber, located right under their skin. This fat is

    used to keep theanimals warm in colder waters and acts as a reserve food.

    The blob fish - or Blob Sculpin, originated in the ocean offof the coasts ofAustralia and Tasmania. Where they live, at around eight

    hundred meters,

    the pressure is eighty times greater than what it is at sealevel. That meansthat the gas bladders of most fish are not going to work

    for them. But thisfish is really just a large mass of gel, kind of like looking

    at Jello(TM) butlarger and with eyes, nose and mouth. The fish averagesaround two feet long.

    Aye-ayes have a black or dark brown coat, and one of itsmost distinguishingfeatures is its bushy tail, which is longer than its body.

    Some of its otherdistinctive physical features include: large and sensitiveears; slender and longfingers; and big, staring eyes. All the toes and fingers

    are equipped withpointed claws, apart from the opposable big toes, whichhelp them to hangfrom branches.

    The olm - is a snake-like blind salamander withtransparent skin that livesunderground in freshwater caves. It is only found in cavesof the southernpart of Austrias Corinthian Alps to northeastern Italy

    and in the westernpart of Yugoslavia. Olm can live for up to 58 years and

    individuals held insemi-natural conditions have been noted to live aslong as70. Folklore hassuggested olm can live up to 100 but his has not been

    proven.

It is capable ofproviding shelter, food and water for the animal and human inhabitants of theAfrican savannah regions. The cork-like bark is fire resistant and is used forcloth and rope. The leaves are used for condiments and medicines. The fruit,is rich in vitamin C and is eaten. The tree is capable of storing hundreds oflitres of water, which is tapped in dry periods.

    Dragon trees - are commonly grown for their exotic leaves. The plants arecommonly cultivated as specimens and border plants. The trees often appearas potted plants on balconies and on patios. A red resin is extracted from theDracaena draco species of dragon trees. This red resin was frequent used for

    medicinal purposes in ancient times (to heal gastrointestinal and respiratoryissues). It is known as "Dragon's Blood."

    The baseball plant -looks like a perfect ball, thornless and extremelydecorative.Its diameter is 6 cm for young subjects, but can reach 15 cm for the old ones.Its shape is spherical for young individuals and cylindrical for the old ones.It contains a water reservoir for periods of drought. It almost always 8 ribsadorned with small deep gibbosity regularly planted on the edges. It is greenwith horizontal lighter or darker stripes.

    The Jade Vine - is a native of the tropical forests of the Phillipines. Its flowers

    are the color of jade, and hang in bunches up to 90 cm long; each clawlikefloweris about 7 cm long. In its native Philippines, the jade vine's flowers arepollinated by bats.The rare and beautiful green jade flower is distinct for itsblue-green petals and navy-purple center. The flowers have such an amazingcolour and shape its hard to believe they are real. The endangered species isunder threat by deforestation in its natural habitat in the Philippines.
