Facts About Oahu1. Oahu is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands2. The average temperature range is 71-80 degrees

Hiking Diamond Head

Diamond Head is an extinct volcanic crater located in

Honolulu, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. It is located a short

distance from Waikiki. A hike up the crater provides good exercise

and spectacular 360-degree views of the island.

Pearl Harbor Brief History

Pearl Harbor is located on the south coast of the island of Oahu

and it is the largest harbor in Hawaii. It is also a United States National Historic Landmark. Pearl Harbor is most famous for being the target of a surprise attack by

Japanese fighter planes on December 7, 1941.

Kilauea Volcano continues to erupt to this very day increasing the size of the island everyday.

Thurston Lava Tube - Lava tubes are natural conduits through which lava travels beneath the surface of a lava flow, expelled by a volcano during an eruption.

Kona Coffee is grown on the island since 1813 in the city of Kona.

1. The Big Island of Hawaii is the youngest of the Hawaiian Islands, at just over one million years old. In fact, the daily lava flow keeps the island growing larger every day.

2. Hawaii is the name of the island as well as the state.

3. 3. Earth's most active volcano, Kilauea, is on the Big Island.

4. Mauna Loa, which last erupted in 1984, is the most massive mountain on earth, consists of 10,000 cubic miles of rock, and is 13,677 feet high.
