Introduction3M™ Performance Coating 2100 is a durable, polyurea-based composition developed for use as a protective coating for a range of applications. It offers excellent resistance to abrasion, impact, and wear. In limited testing at 3M, typical damage to the insulating coating (such as tears and gouges) has been shown to be readily repairable.

3M Performance Coating 2100 is a syntactic foam, with all foam cells encased in microscopic glass walls. This product has been shown to have very low water absorption and is expected to exhibit good resistance to chemical and other contaminants.

Testing to date at 3M demonstrates good adhesion of 3M Performance Coating 2100 to a wide range of paints and other substrates and equally good adhesion by other types of coatings.

3M Performance Coating 2100 has been shown to pass typical automotive flammability tests, such as FMVSS-302.

When spray applied, 3M Performance Coating 2100 has also been shown to provide substantial anti-corrosion protection to metal substrates. When sprayed over steel, it has passed 500 hours of salt spray testing with no visible signs of corrosion.

Application3M Performance Coating 2100 is normally supplied by 3M as easy-to-spray two-component liquid coatings. 3M can also provide pre-formed parts coated with 3M Performance Coating 2100 that are ready for mechanical attachment.
