IOSH Managing Safely for Healthcare Professionals Refresher Pass rate 100% Course Description This is not an off-the-shelf package, but a course written and designed by Sussex Safety to enable delegates to review their health, safety and clinical practices, and reduce risks to staff, patients / residents, as well as the organisation. The course covers the content of the original Managing Safely course, but updates delegates with changes which have taken place, as well as refreshing knowledge. Delegates are invited to write an action plan, based on the knowledge they gain, to implement following the course. It is an interactive course looking at risk management via recent legal cases, scenarios and a team quiz. This course is highly respected and valued, and recognised as best practice by the Health and Safety Executive, Care Quality Commission, as its aim is to reduce risks to people and the organisation. The tutor has worked in healthcare risk management for the last 20 years and is very knowledgeable and up to date. Who should attend Delegates who have previously attended an ‘IOSH Managing Safely for Healthcare Professionals Course’ in the last 3 years. (IOSH will sometimes give leeway for a few months). Learning Objectives On completion of the course, delegates will be able to: Recognise the importance of managing health and safety within a healthcare environment. Describe the role of statutory and mandatory bodies. Understand individual health and safety responsibilities. Describe health and safety law as it applies to their area. Understand the possible consequences if risks are not controlled. Carry out and record risk assessments using their organisation’s forms. Recognise health and safety risks to staff and patients /residents, and set out strategies for risk reduction. Carry out active and reactive monitoring and auditing. Apply the principles of accident prevention, investigation and reporting.

Assessment and Certificate Awarded An IOSH Managing Safely certificate is awarded following successful completion of a theory assessment consisting of 15 multiple choice questions and short answer questions. Course Options In-house Venue: requirements in your workplace include: seating with tables; a wall/screen on which to show a laptop presentation; flip chart; and facilities where staff can access refreshments. Duration: 1 day No. of Delegates: up to 20 Cost per course: £500 (no vat) Plus £20 + vat per person for the IOSH certificates.
