I read today that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) mightbe due for some changes, and that the suggestions run from some minor changesto a re-structuring, and if the rumor is even partially true a planned lynching in thenear future.

All understandable as over the past few months, since the exposure of theNovember e-mails, the panel has been taking a beating, especially the leader

Rajendra Pachauri who offered a weak response to the reported disappearance of the Himalayan glaciers saying, Poorly substantiated rates of recession and date forthe disappearance of Himalayan glaciers. In drafting the paragraph in question, theclear and well-established standards of evidence, required by the IPCC procedures, were not applied properly.

In other words, they got caught! As a member of the human race, and under the influence of International Politics

my vote is to dismantle the IPCC and begin from scratch, if anything at all is done. Ihave read documents over the past decade where it was noted that the qualifiedscientists whose words were used in the IPCC reports, had spin-doctors hovering

over their shoulders telling them to change some of their observations and spinthem towards another direction when it came to Global Warming, not change themdramatically mind you just a slight change in a word or two to enhance the effect of the warming.

The spin applications not only hurt the IPCC credibility, but in my humble opinioncast a shadow over the entire United Nations purpose, to be impartial and to listento both sides of the situation before making a decision. We have know that since itscreation on April 25 th , 1945 the UN has missed the mark more than once in creatingany resolutions that have solve an International crisis, and that it lacks any musclein enforcing their resolutionsreminds me of a school teacher telling you to stoppicking on your sister when you are at home.

The IPCC was established as a scientific intergovernmental body in 1988, itsspecific task to evaluate the risk of climate change caused by human activity, itofficial link is the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the UnitedNations Environment Program (UNEP), two organization within the United Nationsand under the guidance of the former VP of the US Al Gore and his shallow, soon tobe overflowing pockets, began their campaign of terrorizing the world public.

This supposed sheltered organization, IPCC, from its inception was clobbered bypolitical arm-twisting, most partys powerful organizations who threw up roadblocksand creating situations in the body that was supposed to be and independent andimpartial organization. Well today we have come to understand in what directionthey bent.

What was meant to give us working stiffs an impartial view of our Blue Marblesclimate turned into an organization that screamed from the roof tops that our worldwould end, unless we ran to our corner grocery store and cleaned out their supplyof Carbon Credits, which came as a surprise to a great number of Americancitizens as in the decades gone by we had been exposed to Green Stamps usedas an encouragement to buy more stuff. With Carbon Credits all we got was aslice of nothingI repeat nothing. Some of us sat back and said, typical Al Corementality, you buy into me and I will return to you nothing or at least a slice of feeling good, but never your mind Im on your side. The sad thing, a whole lot of people bought into it buying nothing and not only in the good old USA, the Britsand other industrial nations jumped on the bandwagon like a magnet to arefrigerator.

The strange thing was, most of our species understood we were using up ournatural resources and that there would come a day when our resources ran dry, weknew this! But typical of a political organization the IPCC and Al Gores gang of thugs colored it a bit differently, some say to get our attentionthey did. Byproducing some pretty colorful graphics and volumes of data that was twisted andturned to match the outcome they were preaching, sort of like the WMDs in Iraq andthe 9/11 Commission Report out of the halls of the US government, as an old farmeronce remarked, they took some perfect hay fed it to a horse and turned it intoyou know what. Most of our politicians lined up and took trunk loads back to theirsupporters and tried to spoon feed it to them, and wondered why it wasnt goingover to well. Naturally being politicians, they kept at it, went back to their places of work and cranked out a few laws, completely ignoring their constituents, fallingback on the old saw. What the hell do they know were the experts that is why weare here and they are not!

Fortunately there were a few learned experts who agreed with those hayseedsback home whereas they voiced their opinion, published a few reports themselvesand in the beginning were asked to review what the IPCC was going to circulatearound the globe. They pointed out a few discrepancies and the IPCC powers to be,stopped inviting them to conduct what you and I know as a peer review, going as

far as to threatening scientific journals to stop publishing the rebuttals of thedissenting scientists outside of the IPCCs select group. One suggestion by Thomas Stocker of the University of Bern, says we should leave

the IPCC as it is, but just make sure, that it runs only with strict adherence toprocedures and to scientific rigor at all stages and consequently it will continue toprovide the best and most robust information that is need so much. Keep in mindthey have had over 12-years to get it right strict regulations or not, they failed.

Another with too much to lose is Jeff Price of the WWF, and environmental groupsteps back just a bit and says that more frequent and more pointed reports arewhat the world needs and that what is needed is a range of views, expertise, gender and geographical representation. This is the leader of a group that hand-picked information from a document detailing the effect of deforestation and

applied it to lack of rain in the Amazon yep hed be one Id believe or pick forpainting my garage.

Eduardo Zorits, from the GKSS Research Center in Geesthacht, Germany, advocates a little more reform by turning the IPCC into an international agency likethe International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and have it create reports thatshould be published every couple of years, with absolute peer-reviewed studies byfellow scientists. Correct me if Im wrong, isnt that what the IPCC was supposed todo?

Mike Hulme, University of East Anglia (seen that University before) advocatesdisbanding the IPCC after the 5 th report which is due out in 2013, really cant wait tosee that report. He instead proposes establishing a global panel to evaluate andproduce frequent reports on tightly-defined scientific issues of interest. Suggestingthat a series of regional evaluation panels would then sift the basic scientificmessages and sort out what they imply for various parts of the world. And afurther body, something like a global science academy would examine policyoptions.

John Christy, University of Alabama, suggests removing the panel from UNoversight altogether, hinting at a sort of Wikipedia-IPCC with its leaders selectedby leaned societies, serving on a rolling basis as the organization grapples with aseries of specific science and policy questions.

We all know the climate is changing, that is us select few that can read andunderstand what is in our past, you know history, which I find sorely lacking theteaching of in our society today. History to a great majority of our worldspopulation consists of what the price of crude oil was last week, or what religion isthe best and the greatest. Forget the Medieval Warm Period or the Mini Ice Ageand what happened to the societies during those two periods of time as for IceAges, they happened too long ago, and the effect of the object that contains over99% of the mass in our solar system, it doesnt matter.

Our experts today can tell you the effect of an Internet virus, spin a yarn abouthow Google is going to take over the world and how much gas mileage a green car

will give you, but when it comes to what happened 12-months ago forget it! You want to track the climate, spend a few billions put up a low-orbit satellite, setup a few weather stations around the globe that operate on solar power andtransmit data to the satellite(s) and put the info on the web if man is causing theglobal warming let him see what he is causing.
