I use Google Music All Access on my

computer and am wondering if there is

a way to remotely control it from my

phone. Is it possible to? Ideas how?

edit: It appears there's nothing like

this yet other than remote computer

viewers. Too bad All Access doesn't

work with the Nexus Q anymore.

I use Unity Music Media Keys. You can use

hardware buttons to pause Google Music,Youtube, etc. Also pauses playing when

you open a new audio stream.

I've been using Unity Music Media

Keys and it worked perfectly for a

while, but now the Play/Pause

command doesn't work.

Next/Previous track works fine. Notsure why...

Edit: I reinstalled the extension and

it's working perfectly now. Nvm!

I'm on a Mac and wrote AppleScripts for

pausing/playing, next and previous tracks in Google

Music. I had Quicksilver triggers on the various function

keys and when they were pressed they triggered the

scripts which injected JavaScript calls into the active

With good reason. It used to work great,

then nothing changed except the app

versions. It no longer works at all. After

following all steps they suggested,

changing ports, reinstalling the computer

side and the app on the phone it worked

for about an hour and again doesn't work

at all now.


hotkeys global, too, so Chrome

doesn't need to be in focus.

Also, HERE is an AutoHotkey script

that maps media keys to:

Ctrl+Alt+

Home - Play/Pause

PgUp - Previous

PgDown - Next

Arrow Left/Right - Volume

Arrow Down - Mute

In case your keyboard doesn't have

them and you want to use hotkeys

with it.

Sure! I've uploaded them to codetidy (it

recognized them as actionscripts, althoughthat's incorrect).

GoogleMusicPlayPause.scpt

GoogleMusicNextTrack.scpt

GogleMusicPrevTrack.scpt

The way these scripts are set up, it gives

precedence to Google Music, iTunes, and

then Spotify. If you don't frequently use

either you can remove those lines. What I

did was set the prev/play/next keys on my

keyboard back to function keys, then in

QuickSilver set a trigger on the F7, F8, and

F9 keys to activate each of the appropriate

scripts.

Let me know if you have any questions on

the code (it's sloppy and uncommented,

but should be fairly easy to follow). The

main thing you want to take away is you

want your browser to call some JavaScript

calls.

If you use Chrome, go to Google Music and

start playing a song. Open up the

JavaScript console and enter

SJBpost('playPause'); ,

SJBpost('prevSong'); , or

SJBpost('nextSong'); to see the

desired effect. I haven't really played

I don't know why it seems no one has mentioned that

Unified Remote Full does have a Google Music remote.

(Which has worked flawlessly for me.) I use the Google

Music, VLC, and Pandora remotes daily.

Edit: Oh and Netflix. That one too.

these methods within the browser since

AppleScript was the first thing I tried and it

seemed to work. I'm sure there's a better

method of doing this, and if you figure one

TeamViewer is by far one of the most helpful

apps out there. It's one of those things you can't

know how helpful it is until you have it set up and

available to you.

However, in this specific case, it would be a very

clunky workaround but it would work. There has

to be a better way.

Chiefly, Chromecast came out and I've

been using that for my media controllin'

I'm also interested in this. I figured there could possibly

be a way by app or Bluetooth, but I couldn't come up

when any reasonable results. I'd like to be able to play

it through my xbox or computer remotely as well.

iPhone that I could use for that purpose chops songs

for my iTunes to play wirelessly. Would love to know if

Far fetched idea but could you use something to

emulate the presses on the PC? Obviously you wouldn't

be able to pick music (que and such) but you could get,

play,pause,next,and back. Not much help but it's a start

for now
