Blackbutt Excursion

Students and staff went to Blackbutt in week 3. Upon arrival we stopped to have a look at the turtles swimming and walked through the exhibits seeing the many animals on display including birds, koalas, lizards and the wombats. We then went to visit the Kangaroos and Emus in their enclosures and enjoyed a bush walk on the Main Ridge walk which was a 2.4km's around the reserve. The students kept up a steady pace for the majority of the walk. For lunch staff cooked up a sausage sizzle which was followed by a game of French cricket. The students on the excursion showed the LMAS's core expectation thoughout the day.

Bike Program

The Personal Interest Project (PIP) this term has been a bike rejuvenation activity. We purchased some old, rusty and broken push bikes to restore in small groups. The boys have been working together to present bikes that will be judged and raced at the end of term. This project was designed to take advantage of the boys strong interest and knowledge on bike functions. The group has shown lots of enthusiasm this term and we are excited to see the end products.

Up&Up Visit

Up&Up is run by Shane 'Tunz' Kennedy and engages in meaningful relationships by working collaboratively on innovative arts and wellness projects.

Students were given an insight into the life and work of Tunz and then worked outside on their individual graffit i art projects as well as working as a team on a canvas that is now proudly displayed at LMAS.

Lake Macquarie Adolescent Support(02) 49 552 955

Issue 1|2019

The purpose of LMAS is to provide a safe, supportive and caring environment to facilitate a positive change in students' behavioural, educational and vocational outcomes.

LMAS has 3 core PBL expectations:

- Safety- Choices- Respect

A system is in place to both reward and encourage students to modify their behaviour. Weeks 5 and 10 of each term sees a reward for students who achieve 85%+ behaviour and 90%+ attendance.
