    Pneumatic conveying

Pneumatic conveying is a means of conveying

dry powders and other solids in an enclosed

system using air pressure as the means of con-

    veyance.

Dense phase conveyingTwo variations of pneumatic conveying are

dilute phase and dense phase conveying.

Dilute phase conveying is characterized by a

high volume of air, lower air pressure and low

volume of solids per unit air volume while dense

phase is characterized by lower air volumes

and higher pressures and high volumes of solids

    per unit air volume.

Dense phase conveying takes place at rela-

tively lower velocities and higher mass load

ratios compared to the dilute phase.

ApplicationDense phase conveying will typically be cho-

    sen for:

    abrasive and sensitive products

    powders and pellets

    higher capacities

    long distance conveying (overpressure

    dense phase)

We can make a distinction between vacuum

dense phase and overpressure dense phase.

    Advantages

    avoidance of product damage

    avoidance of segregation of mixtures

reduction of the wear of the complete

    systems when conveying abrasive

    products

Higher conveying capacities due to typi-

    cally high mass loading

    Dense phase conveying

    Vacuum dense phase

Vacuum dense phase systems are par-

ticularly suitable for systems, which convey

materials at high capacities over short to

medium distances (up to 100 m), from

multiple sources to a single destination.

Using vacuum pumps, moving plugs of

material are formed and conveyed at sub-

    atmospheric pressures.

  • Overpressure dense phase

In an overpressure dense phase system

the working pressure of the conveying air

is 2 bar or higher. The conveying air will

either be delivered by a compressor or

supplied by the distribution pressure net-

    work at approximately 6 bar.

Depending on the technique and the

components used, we distinguish the fol-

    lowing variaties of overpressure dense

    phase pneumatic conveying

    A Continuous dense phase overpres-

    sure conveying with rotary valve

    B Discontinuous overpressure convey-

    ing with 1 (or 2) pressure vessel(s)

    In both continuous and discontinuous

    conveying systems we distnguish:

1 Unit for compressed air supply

    2 Air regulating unit

3 Product feed into conveying tube by

rotary valve or by pressure vessel

    Options

    Tandem pressure vessels:

For continuous feeding of the recep-

tion vessel and much higher capaci-

    ties, a continuous conveying system

will be selected by means of a pres-

sure vessel. In this case the two ves-

sels alternatingly send product into the

    conveying system.

    Dilute phase versus dense phase

Among the various types of pneumatic con-

veying we distinguish the dense phase from

the dilute phase based on different charac-

    teristics.

Dense phase conveying runs at relatively lower

velocities and higher mass load ratios com-

    pared to the dilute phase.

The working pressure of the conveying air will

be 2 bar or even higher. Therefore the con-

veying air will be delivered by a compressor

or supplied by the distribution pressure network

over the plant at approximately 6 bar.

    Application of dilute phase conveying

A dilute phase conveying will be chosen in

    typical cases such as:

    Distances up to 100 m (vacuum) - 200 m (overpressure)

Limited capacities No special requirements towards prod-

    uct degradation

No special requirements towards dust formation and segregation

    Structure of dilute phase conveying

Depending on the technique and the

    components used, we can distinguish

between two types of dilute phase

    pneumatic conveying:

    A. Continuous dilute phase conveying

    B. Discontinuous dilute phase conveying

    In both continuous and discontinuous

    conveying systems we distinguish overpressure

    and underpressure.

    Screw conveyor

This screw conveyor is custom-made to

meet your demands, but it is built with

standard components. The end result will

    meet your requirements.

The food industry and fine chemicals

    branch have high demands regarding

hygiene for conveying systems. To meet

these demands screw conveyors have to

    be easy to clean.

To this effect, the screw conveyor can

be equipped with hinges and fasteners,

making it possible to completely remove

    the cover.

Obviously, we have to keep safety in mind.

Therefore the covers are equipped with

safety switches, compliant with safety norms.

The screw is completely welded on two sides

by a welding robot. This guarantees uniform

    welding, meeting high quality demands.

    Vertical screw conveyor

This screw conveyor is specifically designed

for transporting powders and pellets in

vertical direction. No more dangerous and

difficult carrying of bags onto ladders and

    platforms.

    The vertical screw conveyor transports

material dust-tight to the right place. You

decide the height of the conveyor and the

desired content of the shoot. Tailor-made at

    your request.

Safety, quick dismantling for cleaning and

    other features are accounted for.

In many business industries such as food

    and chemistry, pharmaceutical and plastic

industry, this vertical screw conveyor offers

    the perfect solution.
