Dear Janssen School Community,
Our 2017-18 school year has come to a successful close. What is different
for our student now compared to the start of the year is that they have
grown as learners. The relationships between staff, students, and families
and our students’ perseverance to succeed contributed to student growth.
Thank you to each person who positively impacts each of our students
each and every day.
Below are groups of people that I want to give thanks to…
...our families who have entrusted our school to keep their children safe
and motivated to be problem solvers;
...our staff who balance expectations with positive relationships to form
a trusting environment for our students to be successful;
...our PTO who value the relationship between families and school to
add positive experiences for our students and staff;
...our lunch personnel who prepare and serve our students hot lunch;
...our crossing guards who ensure the safety of our students before and
after school;
...our bus drivers who transport our students safely to and from school;
...our volunteers who take time from their day to help with what our
staff, students, and school needs;
…our students who bring such joy and happiness into our school each
day—giving our staff the opportunity to be a part of their lives; and
…our two retirees Mrs. Herrling and Mr. Zdanovec for their combined
67 years of serving students as educators. They have made such a pos-
itive impact in so many students’ lives. We wish them the very best in
their retirements.
I wish each family a safe, fun-filled summer break. My recommendation
during the summer months is for our students to continue to read for the
enjoyment. A good book slows down our day, evokes emotions, and fosters
connections .
Sincerely,
Hercules Nikolaou, Ph.D.
