The Surah is about the Tawheed, belief, disbelief, examples of messengers given in

very simple and comprehensible manner.

From Ayah 91 Part 2 starts which is about confronting and threatening the polytheist:

Part 2Ayahs 91 - 144

Confronting and threatening thepolytheist

Part 2 is sub-divided into 9 parts:

Part I Ayahs 91 - 103

Answer of the mushrikeen and the Jews; theirpunishment and some manifestation of theAuthority and Power of Allah SWT

Ayahs 91 and 92 are the answer to the ahl-e-kitaab;

And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal when they said, “Allah did not reveal to a humanbeing anything." Say, "Who revealed the Scripture that Moses brought as light and guidance to thepeople? You [Jews] make it into pages, disclosing [some of] it and concealing much. And you were taughtthat which you knew not - neither you nor your fathers." Say, “Allah [revealed it]." Then leave them intheir [empty] discourse, amusing themselves.

In the scriptures of the ahl-e-kitaab mention of the last prophet was given and they

had recognized the prophet. They had seen the power and ability of Allah SWT

Qudrah but still they did not magnify Him and instead took partners with Him. They

denied the prophet hood completely – they underestimated Allah SWT and His powers

and said that nothing was revealed on Prophet SAW.

Allah SWT telling Prophet Muhammad SAW to ask them who sent down the book

upon Musa AS which was a clear light and guidance. Allah SWT revealing the secret of

the yahud how they dealt with their own book; they separated it into parts out of

their own desires, hiding part of it and concealing some part as suiting their desires.

They hid specially the part in which mention of the prophet was there.

Then Allah SWT is addressing the Arabs that this Book is being revealed in your

language and through it Allah SWT has taught you things about which you and your

forefathers were ignorant but instead of being grateful on the blessing you are

following the misguided disbelievers who changed their own book. The command to

Prophet SAW is to leave them in their own delusion and they talk without having any

knowledge like they are just playing.

And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you maywarn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and theyare maintaining their prayers.

The Book Allah SWT has sent down is full of blessing because it is from Him and it

confirms what is there in the Torah and Injeel, so that it warns from the punishment.

Sent in Makkah as it is in the centre of the world and everything is around Makkah –

not only Arab but the whole of the world. So whoever believes in the akhirah believes

in the Qur’an and that reflects in their Salah.

Ayahs 92 to 94 are the punishment of denial;

And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah or says, "It has been inspired to me," whilenothing has been inspired to him, and one who says, "I will reveal [something] like what Allah revealed."And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death while the angelsextend their hands, [saying], "Discharge your souls! Today you will be awarded the punishment of[extreme] humiliation for what you used to say against Allah other than the truth and [that] you were, toward His verses, being arrogant."

The most injustice is associating any lies with Allah SWT or saying that inspirations

come to him where as nothing is inspired to him or one who claims he can come up

with something same like Qur’an. So the punishment of such liars is at the time of

From ayah 95 some manifestation of the Authority and Power of Allah

SWT are mentioned:

Indeed, Allah is the cleaver of grain and date seeds. He brings the living out of the dead and brings thedead out of the living. That is Allah; so how are you deluded?

About the Qudrah of Allah SWT as if He SWT is telling the disbelievers His powers as

compared to the false deities which they worship that who is the one who has the

power to split the grains from the seeds. He SWT is the One who has the power to give

life from the dead – from the seed a tree giving out flowers and fruits and similarly

human beings are given life from the dead and death to the alive. So the truth is in

front of them but where are they deceived and diverted from the straight path towards

the falsehood.

[He is] the cleaver of daybreak and has made the night for rest and the sun and moon for calculation. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

The ayah is explaining –“Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak”1 . Surah Al

Ana’am is explanation of so many ayahs. He SWT made the night as a resting time

and further to serve the human beings He SWT made sun and the moon according to

a system. This is the estimation and decree by the Might of Allah SWT.

And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darknesses of theland and sea. We have detailed the signs for a people who know.

Further showing the Might in making the stars as a guide in darkness of the sea &

the land & this is how Allah SWT guides His servants. He SWT has given us in our

lives guidance of the star for our ways so He SWT guides us towards the right path of

guidance and belief.

And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling and of storage. We havedetailed the signs for a people who understand.

Mention of Adam AS and that human beings were created from one soul and He SWT

made the womb of the mother ( )as a place to rest for some time before coming out

to this world and the ( ) which is the back of the male from where the sperm is

stored. So much detail given about the creation of the human beings – these are the

lessons for those who use their intellect, given by Allah SWT, to recognize their

Creator.

And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. Weproduce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees - ofits emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives andpomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed inthat are signs for a people who believe.

Allah SWT brings water and from this water He SWT produces all the vegetation –

detailed explanation of this form of life also. Even in the way they are arranged is a

sign of Allah’s Qudrah – in rows arranged one on top of other. And the varied types of

fruits which are coming out of the same earth with same water – are these not clear

and manifest signs of Allah’s authority and Might. Special mention of three fruits –

grapes, olives and the pomegranates – the look quite the same on the tree but they are

different in their tastes – so similar in something yet different in others – SubhanAllah

– who would not believe after seeing these signs but these are signs only for those who

believe.

But they have attributed to Allah partners - the jinn, while He has created them - and have fabricated forHim sons and daughters. Exalted is He and high above what they describe

[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have acompanion and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.

But despite all these clear signs the disbelievers belied Allah SWT and made partners

with Him without any knowledge and authority and fabricate that He SWT has

daughters and sons while He SWT is the Creator of the heavens and the earth -

That is Allah, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He isDisposer of all things.

As He SWT is the Creator of everything so we need to worship Him as no one else is

deserving of being worshipped – so simple way of explaining the truth.

Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Acquainted.

No vision can grasp Him and He SWT encompasses and grasps our vision – that he

SWT says about Himself yet He SWT is the Most gentle and Subtle in His Knowledge.

Haqiqa Rasul ullah SAW defining the role of Prophet SAW

There has come to you enlightenment from your Lord. So whoever will see does so for [the benefit of] hissoul, and whoever is blind [does harm] against it. And [say], "I am not a guardian over you."

Nabi SAW is not a guardian over our deeds; every soul is accountable for his/her own

deeds because Allah SWT has made everything clear for human beings to understand

and recognize their Lord using the intellect given by our Creator SubhanAllah.

Allah SWT has made every sign very clear and easy but they say that we

learned it from the ahl-e-kitaab. But the believers not only learn but accept

and follow whatever signs are shown by Allah SWT.

Follow, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you from your Lord - there is no deity except Him - andturn away from those who associate others with Allah.

Muhammad SAW was given firmness by Allah SWT that he SAW followed it himself

and turn away from the mushrikeen in the sense that do not worry about them – you

just convey the message and their guidance is not in your hands and you are not

responsible for their deeds.

But if Allah had willed, they would not have associated. And We have not appointed you over them as aguardian, nor are you a manager over them.

Allah SWT knows what is in their hearts and He SWT knows that they will not be

guided and follow the falsehood so Nabi SAW is not a guardian over their deeds so he

SAW is not accountable for them; mentioned twice in these ayahs that Nabi SAW is

not wakeel but just a conveyor of the true message.

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and Hewill inform them about what they used to do.

Allah SWT is addressing the believers to not insult the deities and idols of the

mushrikeen because in retaliation they will insult Allah SWT without having

knowledge. So this is essentially a command for the believers to protect their religion.

Allah SWT adorns in the eyes of the disbelievers and the mushrikeen their evil choice

as a punishment for them because they are choosing the falsehood so as a

consequence their choices are beautified but in the end they will return to their Rabb

and they will be informed about their evil deeds and bad choices. May Allah SWT save

us from becoming blind on the truth and may He SWT always show us the right path.

Part IV Ayahs 109 - 113

Stubbornness of the mushrikeen in asking for the signs andthe promise of Allah SWT for them

And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it.Say, "The signs are only with Allah." And what will make you perceive that even if a sign came, theywould not believe.

asking for conditional faith.

And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first time. AndWe will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.

Punishment of Allah SWT for such disbelievers that their hearts are turned upside

down so they don’t see and benefit from the signs of Allah SWT because they rejected

the first time and may be they knew it’s the truth but they rejected like they saw but

still did not see so Allah SWT leave them confused in their delusion and they lose the

straight path. Guidance is not an outcome of our own intellect but a mercy from Allah

And even if We had sent down to them the angels [with the message] and the dead spoke to them [of it]and We gathered together every [created] thing in front of them, they would not believe unless Allahshould will. But most of them, [of that], are ignorant.

Allah SWT knows that even if the signs are sent to them they will not believe. Signs as

big as sending of the angels and speaking of the dead shown to them they will not

believe except by the Will of Allah SWT and He SWT knows their heart because their

hearts are ignorant and stubborn from the guidance.

Their asking for the signs is different from asking of the prophets when they ask for

sign because they want to strengthen their already firm faith; that is out of their love

for Allah SWT but these disbelievers are in their stubbornness and arrogance of

rejecting the signs.

And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to oneanother decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leavethem and that which they invent.

These disbelievers and the polytheist are the enemies of the prophets and the

believers; Allah SWT has made enemies for every prophet; this is Sunnah of Allah

SWT; because they carry the truth so to make the truth very clear. The enemies are

from human, who are apparent, and the jinn – both are tests for the prophets and to

distinguish clearly the truth and the falsehood. Here the Prophet SAW has been

comforted by saying that the hostility of such people against him is nothing

surprising, past prophets too had their enemies - so, let him not be sad about it.

When these evils inspire and support each other then the deception is so beautified

that they are distracted from the truth. If Allah SWT would have willed He SWT would

not have put this enmity but these are tests so the command is to leave them in their

deception.

And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it and that they willbe satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.

Only those who don’t believe in the akhirah will be receptive towards these deceptive

and beautified evil words and their disbelief increases with these and they become

happy and satisfied with their evil because it is beautified in their hearts and they

both increase in sins.

Part V Ayahs 114 - 115

Truthfulness of Nabi SAW and Allah’s testimony

[Say], "Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Bookexplained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent downfrom your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.

After mentioning the stubborn mushrikeen and those who are engrossed in evil deeds

Allah SWT is telling Muhammad SAW to question that should I take any one besides

Allah SWT a judge who has sent a clear Book with clear guidance sent down to you

also.

Describes four special perfections of the Qur’an, that is:

(1) It has been sent down from Allah SWT;

(2) It is perfect, miraculous, unchallenged and inimitable;

(3) All matters of principle have been given in clear details; and

(4) Before the Qur’an, the People of the Book, the Jews and the Christians knew for

sure that the Qur'an is the true Word of Allah. Then, those who had regard for truth,

said so while those who were hostile would not say so despite that they were sure

about it.

And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He isthe Hearing, the Knowing.

Allah SWT is the One who has sent the Book upon the last Prophet SAW and to the

ahl-e-kitaab; which is the truth and no one can be more Just and True than Allah

SWT so only He SWT is deserving of being taken as a Judge; His Words are final and

no one can change them because He SWT is the All Knower and All Hearing –

complete with perfection Subhan Allah.

Part VI Ayahs 116 - 117

Characteristics of majority of the people and the knowledge ofAllah SWT with whatever in their hearts

And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah. They follownot except assumption, and they are not but falsifying.

Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly]

guided.

Allah SWT is All-aware of everyone who is guided and who took the path of

misguidance and most of the people are misguided because of their assumption and

fabrication.

The gist of the advice is that one should not be impressed by their numerical majority

as a model to follow because they lack principles and go off the right way.
