JESUS, THE BAPTIZER IN THE HOLY SPIRIT Sermon in a Sentence: Look to Jesus to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Sermon Purpose: That believers will come to Jesus and be baptized in the Holy Spirit, Text: Luke 3:16 I. Jesus is the One Who Baptizes in the Holy Spirit a. We should look to Jesus, not only as our Savior and Healer but also as our Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. B. The only sign of the Messiah mentioned in all four gospels is that He baptizes in the Holy Spirit (Matt. 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33) c. Look to Jesus today as your baptizer in the Holy Spirit! II. We Must Prepare Ourselves to Receive this Baptism from Jesus A. We must prepare ourselves spiritually (Acts 2:38). 1. Must be born again 2. Must confess and forsake any habitual sin B. We must prepare ourselves mentally. 1. Must not let misinformation confuse us. 2. Must rather believe what the Bible teaches: a. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is available today (Acts 2:14-17). b. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is for all believers (Acts 3:38-39) c. Speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance is the initial physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4). d. Many other wonderful results will follow (power to witness; closer relationship with God; gifts of the Spirit; power over Satan, etc.) Jesus the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit Page 2 e. The experience must be maintained (Eph. 5:18). C. We must prepare ourselves emotionally. 1. Our hearts must be ready to receive. 2. We must want to be baptized in the Holy Spirit (Matt. 5:6; 6:33; John 7:37-39). 3. We must believe that Jesus will baptize us in the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4-5; Mark 11:24). Conclusion Are you ready to be baptized in the Holy Spirit? Then come to Jesus, the baptizer in the Holy Spirit, and let Him baptize you today. — Jim Lemons

JESUS, THE BAPTIZER IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

Sermon in a Sentence: Look to Jesus to be baptized inthe Holy Spirit.Sermon Purpose: That believers will come to Jesus andbe baptized in the Holy Spirit,

Text: Luke 3:16

I. Jesus is the One Who Baptizes in the Holy Spirita. We should look to Jesus, not only as our Savior

and Healer but also as our Baptizer in the HolySpirit.

B. The only sign of the Messiah mentioned in all fourgospels is that He baptizes in the Holy Spirit (Matt.3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33)

c. Look to Jesus today as your baptizer in the HolySpirit!

II. We Must Prepare Ourselves to Receive this Baptism from JesusA. We must prepare ourselves spiritually (Acts 2:38).
