• Program Evaluation Workshop Instructor Fall 2014 China’s State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) Designed and delivered a workshop on evaluation for a group of 30 Human Resources executives from China. Workshop Instructor Spring 2012 Center for Non-Profit Leadership, San Francisco Designed and delivered a workshop on “Evaluation 101.” Lecture and discussions introduced concepts such as reasons to evaluate, development of logic models, and resources for evaluation capacity building. Activities included appreciative inquiry as well as designing developing logic models for participants’ home agencies. Workshop was co-designed and co-taught with Campbell Bullock and Andrew Niklaus. Workshop Instructor Fall 2010 American Evaluation Association, San Antonio TX Proposed, designed, and delivered an original workshop for the American Evaluation Association on the role of program theory, theories of evaluation, and social science theories within evaluation practice. Demonstrated several social science theories that can be used to help frame many programs and initiatives. Workshop was co-taught with Stewart I. Principal Investigator Fall 2011-Spring 2012 Undergraduate Students’ Interest in Diverse Applied Professions, CGU This research is assessing undergraduate students’ knowledge about and interest in five descriptions of applied professions: evaluation, psychology, education, business, and public policy. Principal Investigator Spring 2008-Fall 2009 Planning for Evaluation’s Future: Undergraduate Students’ Knowledge of and Interest in Program Evaluation-Expanded Study, CGU This research assessed undergraduate students’ knowledge of and interest in evaluation at 9 universities across the United States. Paper was published in American Journal of Evaluation in Fall 2011. Principal Investigator Spring 2008-Fall 2009 Trends in the Academic Pre-service Preparation of Evaluators, CGU This research critiqued past research on university-based pre-service evaluation training programs and offers a new methodological approach for collecting valid and accurate data. This research also compiles all accessible Evaluation Training Directories and displays them over time using the SWiSH animation software. This paper was published in the American Journal of Evaluation in spring 2010. Principal Investigator Fall 2005-Fall 2006 What do they know? Undergraduate Students’ Knowledge of and Interest in Program Evaluation-Pilot, CGU This research assessed undergraduate students’ knowledge about evaluation and applied psychology. This research has implications for the recruitment efforts within the field of evaluation. Research Assistant Spring 2005-Summer 2006 Evaluation of Prentice Hall’s Biology Curriculum, CGU Assisted in the design of and training of using an online survey data collection system, acted as a contact point for two research sites, traveled to sites to conduct observations, wrote qualitative reports based on observations, conducted interviews with teachers, performed quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Research Assistant Spring 2004 State of the First Amendment in Wisconsin, UW-Stout As part of duties for the TA position for the Research for Decision-Making (Sp 04), I assisted 12 graduate students with a literature review, helped construct a telephone survey, and created a NCS survey database to receive scanned survey data. Participated in and coordinated survey production and data collection. Helped develop a poster presentation and contributed in writing the final report. Data Analyst Summer 2003 Employer Training Interest Project, UW-Stout Designed, implemented, and analyzed an original online Employer Training Interest Survey for a training program sponsored by the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) of Wisconsin and administered through the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Data Analyst Summer 2003 Interfaith Volunteers of Dunn County Redesigned and analyzed an annual survey given to the recipients of a food shelter in Dunn county Wisconsin. The data was used for annual reports necessary to secure funding for the next fiscal year. Research Assistant Summer 2003 University of Wisconsin Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Initiative, UW-Stout Worked with a senior researcher to analyze AODA data from all the sites in the University of Wisconsin system, and wrote sections of the final report for the University of Wisconsin System administrators. Survey Designer Summer 2003 Athletic Interest Survey, UW-Stout Designed a NCS DesignExpert survey to assess incoming students’ interest in intramural athletics as well as self-reported alcohol and other drug use.

Researcher Spring 2003 Western Wisconsin Medical Association, UW-Stout Designed and produced original measures of patient satisfaction with a health care experience. Led the data analysis team, and helped present the results of the project to the WWMA administrators. Researcher Spring 2003 Downtown Eau Claire, Inc.
