The presentation of the PROMOTER and the objectives of the PROJECT

DAR DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION has as strategic goal for the next period : to be-

come known as provider of non-formal programs regarding subjects related to the economical

environment, based on the experience in business of the people who set this NGO in 2013

After experimenting our method The Business Chest in several other activities, in 2015, we

proposed and implemented a multi actions Youth Mobility K1 Erasmus project, that we named:

Journey into Finance, which included a 5 days training for youth workers and a 12 days youth

exchange. We invited as partners 5 youth organizations coming from Bulgaria, Poland, Italy,

Turkey an Croatia, NGOs with experience in international activities which expressed their

interest for the theme of the project and contributed to the creation of the activity plan.

They are briefly introduced in the next page.

The main objectives of the project were: stimulating the entrepreneurial spirit of young peo-

ple through non-formal activities and constructive exchanges of ideas ;

Offering to participants an international experience involving multiculturalism and EU citizen-

ship in ERASMUS PLUS context

The purpose of the project is to embark the participants in a journey of

reflection, discoveries and experiences that will place them as responsible citizens in front of

personal and carrier choices.

Journey into Finance is about creating through nonformal learning, awareness and under-

standing over a series of related concepts having in common the MONEY, bringing the partici-

pants to the exchange closer to the realities on the European labor market and capital mar-

ket and equipping the youth workers with a set of tools that will ease the dissemination of

these subjects.

Health related Organization for Promotion and Prevention (HOPP) is an

association especially for young people. We operate throughout Poland, but

headquarters of the Organization are in Opole. We invest effort on health

education and expanding awareness of public’s health topics. The association

gives an opportunity to build new connections and relationships between people

from all over the Europe. We are promoting non-formal education methods that

can be applied that the young people get more aware of the benefits of a healthy

Narodno Chitalishte “Nikola Vasilev Rakitin” (Community Culture Centre) is a

Bulgarian association for public benefit that unites volunteers in cultural and

humanitarian activities since 1890. Our activities consist if:

Youth work – Global Youth Service Day – volunteering at the House for disabled

children, trainings in summer and winter camps – Human Rights

Management training – Junior Achievement program - young entrepreneurs

Non-formal training to furthering the cause of human rights “Community Theatre”

EYDER is a non-profit, non-government organization founded in 2006 with the

aim to provide a wide range of activities in the fields of art, sport and free-time

activities. Our association has already accredited by Turkish National Agency

(2011-TR-41) Eyder has 100 members who have different jobs and groups (young

Teachers, engineers, doctors).The Members work as volunteers for

association for the same purpose. Generally we coordinate lots of EU youth

projects such as Action 1.1 ,1.2,3.1 Action 4.3.and EVS. Besides, education

EURO-NET has a wide experience in the youth field and owns permanent and highly

qualified facilities for training courses, meetings, apprenticeships, workshops, youth

exchanges or initiatives, etc. with different skills: its facilities, together with the

staff’s skills, allow to always meet the stated goals.

EURO-NET has realized and developed over 300 different kinds of activities in many

fields (languages, IT, European citizenship, comics, self-esteem, family support,

video graphics, animation, projects management, marketing, etc.) including

Raplection is informal group of young people, from Split, very active in ex Youth in

Action programme for the last 3 years. Our main aims are informing and raising

awareness of the European Union and its educational programs; promoting

self-fulfillment and personal development of young people through educational

programs of the European Union and developing non-formal education, intercultural

dialogue, international cooperation and active civil society.

What is this booklet for?

The booklet you are reading aims to give the readers, a set of tools to start working with the

youngsters of your local community on concepts encountered in Financing and Entrepreneurship in

particular. The description of the sessions is short sinc we choosed to insert pictures which better

describe the method used, the materials used. We preffered not o give the uration since this can

varry according to the number of participants.

Methodology

The activity that you will find described in this document is using the principles of

non-formal education (NFE). Therefore, the methodologies used throughout the whole activity,

in each and every session, are always based on participation. Another key feature of

the activity is the focus on practice. The theoretical input is always followed by a

practical approach to the topic.

These two main features are translated into the sessions in a large variety of methods such as

brainstorming, debates, simulations, case studies, round-tables, role games, etc.

Profile – Target Group

The proposed activities are aimed to youngsters willing to become familiar with the Finances and

Financing entering in what we called the World of Money and with Entrepreneurship in particular.

No prior knowledge on finance or accounting is required, since it’s an introductory approach.

The present booklet was prepared entirely by Mrs. Alexandra Brutaru, the president of DAR

DEVELOPMENT a Association, based on her experience as a banker, financial consultant and

trainer.

The activities were structured in four blocks as shown in the mind map below:

The first block started with money in sense of currency and tackled the following as-

pects during one full day during the exchange:

the Money evolution (presentation of the currencies of each country)—the crea-

tion of EURO– exchange rates

Budgeting –money utilization on the level of individuals and families thus one day

was dedicated to “easy spending” we refrained from naming it bad spending and

we approached the subjects luxury and gambling. Another day was dedicated to

reasonable expenditures and we talked about: savings and consumer rights– with

an application on fair and unfair advertising which introduced us in the subject of

entrepreneurship;

The second block ENTREPRENEURSHIP, represented the main subject that was cov-

ered in five days during the exchange. In its turn this was divided into two sub-

activities one revolving on the other in the creation of business models for the enter-

prises that they established.

The PROFILE OF THE ENTREPRENEUR –The Business Chest identifies and

explores the essential competences for Entrepreneurship, the main competences

in order to successfully start and run an enterprise. In the same time it offers

an outlookcof those skills and attitudes commonly agreed as essential for

employability. In the second one the participants creted the Profile of the

Entrepreneurs of the companies that they developed as Bussiness case.

The BUSINESS CASE development took five days in which the participants

worked on different tasks divided in multinationl teams. The teams changed

during the development each case thus giving the opportunity to interacts with

more participants and to studydifferenttype of businesses.The tasks were

related to the creation of:

The logo, the mission, values and objectives that would differentiate their com-

pany on the market from their competitors.

An advertisement for the products of the company

Start the company and compute the balance sheet and the profit and loss ac-

count in the first month. The participants learned about several financing possi-

bilities , they had to assess the needs and find financing for their businesses and

in the end of the day they will produce, market and sell their products.

The last two blocks of activities took the participants away from the world of money, fi-

nancing and entrepreneurship:

The third block led the participants briefly in the concept of CORPORATE SOCIAL RE-

SPONSIBILITY:

The participants proposed measures that could be taken by the companies in the four

directions: environment, human resources, neighboring community and authorities.

The participants visited a multinational located near the place where the exchange took

place an discussed with the CSR responsible about the measures taken by this company

in particular.

The fourth and last block o which it was dedicated just one day was called A DAY WITH-

OUT MONEY and included three activities:

Developing and staffing a volunteering project;

Envisaging pleasant activities that would take place in a day without money

Sending sympathetic messages to the community which hosted the exchange during 12

days.

Slide show with participants contributions–

Facilitated discussion

The participants divided on national teams present through a slide show the

currency of their country explaining the significance of the symbols, the images

and the characters who are portrayed on the currency, they will share with the

other participants the evolution of the currency in their country during history.

Participants were encouraged to ask questions to their colleagues from other

countries.

The long way of the national currencies

into EURO

Facilitated discussion

The facilitator presents to the participants information regarding the

evolution of the European Union from its inception, the way the decision on a

single currency was taken, and the way the euro evolved and was introduced in the

countries, also the plans for the extension of the Eurozone.

There are used materials maps and brochures received from the European Commis-

sion representative office in Romania.

This project has its own currency !

Objective: mathematical skills, fairplay, individual organization,

team spirit, competition spirit

Each participant receives a card a Bank Statement that he has to keep in an envelope pinned

on the wall. The participants receive as reward for their contribution, both individual or as

member of a team—JIF-s the currency of the exchange.

At the end of the activity a classification is done according to the amounts gained.

The facilitator presents the participants divided by groups of 10 the “concept” of

exchange house meaning—polite, fast and correct service . In this role-paly relay game,

within the groups the participants will take turns and they will be

successively acting as exchange house officers, managers and customers.

The participants will be given various amounts of the currency of the exchange that each

of them will have to exchange in other currencies. They will form lines in front of the

exchange houses and the entire time will have to pass in front of the desk as soon as possi-

ble and to receive a receipt with the money that they must

collect. The teams will be given time to decorate their exchange –booths. The

officer will compute manually while the manager will have access to the computer and will

verify and control the mistakes.

team work, coordination.

Survey

The participants receive forms with the same categories of ex-

penses and they perform a survey asking the inhabitants of the

city of Targoviste about their breakdown of the family budget.

In this session the participants work in groups randomly

selected, they will receive glossy magazines and their task will be to

do a poster who will better express the concept of

luxury for the members of the team. The teams will be asked to

give the presentation of their poster as evocative as

possible for the concept in question showing positive and negative

effects.

The participants will discuss about gambling: what is the leg-

islation in their country regarding gambling and how it is

taxed. What is the common view about gambling and gam-

blers in the countries they represent.

Purpose: communication, Euro-

pean citizenship, team spirit.

The participant were invited to play an original game: MONOPOLY on countries. For

each of the 5 participating countries there were selected four cities, the name of the

city and a picture with a representative tourist objectives and the number of points

were laid on a paper sheet then the paper sheets were placed on the floor of the hall–

according to the score of the rolling dices– the participants went from a position to

another and they decided to: rent or buy a certain city. The team who detained the

city decided to do the deal or not. The winning team was the one with the bulk of gains

after three rounds.

The participants will discuss about responsible purchases, the EU policy

regarding consumer rights will be explained to them using EU commission

materials.

The participants divided in teams of 6-7, were asked to propose

an advertising for a product of their choice, produced by the

company they have established previously—in this add they

should apply the consumer policy principles.

The participants were asked individually to extract an object from the BUSINESS

CHEST - a large closed box, where there will be deposited several items and

toys - finding definitions, and utilizations for each objects will lead the participants

to create the profile of the entrepreneur. Each definition will be retained and

written on a piece of colored paper, for example: for the toy phone the definition

can be good communicator, controlling the situation a.s.o. We will discover abilities,

knowledge and attitudes that an entrepreneur is characterized by.

Grouped “on companies the participants” the participants had to analyze and put on

flipchart pages the specific traits– in terms of education, aptitudes and attitudes for

each type of company.

Set your company to work !

The participants were given boxes containing different –forms, documents and ob-

jects for each company: Incorporation Deeds, Bank Loans Agreements, Invoices, Re-

ceipts, Employment contracts The participants were asked to evaluate the amounts

needed for them to start the respective business an to present a Balance Sheet

statement for each enterprise. All necessary information was given to the partici-

pants and written on a whiteboard at their disposal. The participants who had eco-

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Responsibility Concept - Through a facilitated discussion the

participants will be introduced to the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility

(CSR) and will watch together some movies showing the way multinationals

understand to intervene in the life of the communities. Then divided into 4

groups they will propose measures for each of the chapters.

In this session the participants were introduced to the concept of

volunteering as defined in the European Voluntary Service. The partici-

pants grouped by nationalities and more precisely the organizations

that they created in the firs day, proposed Volunteering projects ac-

cording to the profile of their organizations. They described the pro-

jects in terms of activities , duration, candidates profile. The teams

were further separated into Organizers and Volunteers and those act-

ing as volunteers had to choose one of the other projects and convince

the Organizers that they would be the most appropriate to participate

in the respective projects. The admitted candidates were announced.

Future Entrepreneur—Viitor Antreprenor- is the project through which

DAR DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION promotes business and

financial culture—Journey into Finance—is only one of the activities

that we intend to do for this purpose.
