June 14, 2009. Lisbon, Portugal. The Belgian actor Tom Struyf meets Tatiana Aarons, a South African psy-chology student. An extraordinary conversation takes a twist and appears to go according to an ingenious scenario. One year later Tom tries to reconstruct and answer the question: Who is this woman? The Tatiana Aarons Experience is a travelogue based on (non-)true facts, a realitytheatrevideoperformance.

The term stigma is based on the definition introduced to sociology by Erving Goffman, where stigma is the gap between own and attributed identity. In the film Stigma 18 faces are crammed into a small space at an identical distance from a fixed camera. Each face is assigned to a thinking pattern, a paradigm, while having to deal simultaneously with the social identity of their vis-a-vis, not knowing his/her real personality.

The video installation The Four Riders deconstructs the horse’s anatomy in movement and materializes it in massive landscapes of moving flesh. The video stages the wild and grotesque next to the restrained and elegant by showing the horse up close; hoofs shine, chest-muscles quiver, veins expand, and nos-trils flare impatiently as if they are about to burst out of the screens and into the audience.

Transformance is a video-event-work that activates and documents a five-month durational performance. Over this period of time, Nina Kurtela estab-lishes a daily practice of visiting and witnessing the changes at the building site of the Uferstudios, Wedding, Berlin, as the old warehouse becomes a new dance institution. What unfolds is an 8-minute work with multi-faceted implications. The body is rendered a statue through the changes of time.(Transformance is shown in a loop with the short film Retrograde).

Two women are spending their time in the flat of a dead opera singer. They are wearing an ever-changing selection of sexy outfits that are definitely way too much. While they wait for something to happen, they struggle to pass time. They talk about life outside; about diapers, about maybe getting a dog and about the complications of being female.

Performance / Installation

The balance between gravity and endurance plays a central role in the performance installation Mind the Gap. For the duration of approx. 2 hours, time seems to stand still whilst a woman is suspended in mid-air above a man lying on his back and facing her. The absence of physical contact between their bodies highlights the notion of attraction and isolation that exists between lovers.

Performed by: Chaja Hertog and Nir Adler.

Discounts 2010-2012 (hu)

The performance Discounts focuses on bodily movements in relation to a single count. The attempt to count each movement is highly controversial; however that factor offers possibilities for reflection by offering a constant reference to every action seen on stage. Something so abstract such as counting can create tensions, emotions and the feeling of expectancy.

The abyss is in a sense our desire for the never-end-ing. We crave for always having a frontier to push back. Although we are driven, sometimes to madness or heights of human achievement by this illusory fron-tier, we fear it might be closing. What avenue could then be left for us but the dark and claustrophobic caverns within our minds?

Marquez & Zang’s work considers the effects of failure on performance. The structure is that of a fashion show: Identical beauties walk back and forth along a catwalk marked out by gaffer tape on the floor. Then, a choreographer steps in to rearrange the floor plan and give unrehearsed instruc-tions to the performers. The result, we hope, is disruptive.

Choreographers: Marquez & Zangs / Collaborators/Perform-ers: Diina Bukareva, Alenka Her-man, Katarzyna Witek and Emma Zangs / Production: Marquez & Zangs with the support of Trinity Laban / Photo: Tracey Fahy.

Maggie is a Twat - The Talkshow XS is a performance by The Mob, in which they process Margaret Thatcher’s time of power in Great Britain. During the piece we get acquainted with a handful of characters, all somehow affected by her political ideology. In an intimate, surreal and musical setting we meet toy soldiers, gymnastic girls, a unicorn and perhaps even Margaret Thatcher herself.

AquaSonic’s “work-in-progress” performance Homage to Water pres-ents a composition for voice and instruments in and below water. The music is generat-ed in large bowls and aquariums. Homage to water is one of the first public performances within a larger project. AquaSonic’s aim is to create a performance in the borderland between concert, installation and performance art - where all music, visuals and dance are created in water.

AquaSonic consists of Christian Dietrichsen and Laila Skovmand / Composition and installation: Laila Skovmand / Performers: AquaSonic, Robert Karlsson and Nanna Bech / Sponsor of aquari-um: Aqua Ferksvandscenter.

The artists of the city take over a room in Godsbanen. A group of Aarhus-artists has decided to ”squad” a room in the newly build culture production centre to meet and network, doing and creating art together. In the weeks prior to the Junge Hunde Festival five artists from five different art genres will build a room of experience and diversity – come see the process and result as the artists’ artistic worlds intertwine in the making of the Chameleon Room. The room will be open all days and stay updated on bora-bora.dk for special events.

Be part of the jury as the Junge Hunde prosecutor accuses two perfor-mances from the festival of being in violation of the performance law. The Junge Hunde defence is pleading the performer’s innocence. You give the verdict. The Junge Hunde Court is a feedback concept. It is arranged as a dialogue between artists, critics and audiences and due to the court staging both the worst and best of each performance is brought to the table. This is meant as the starting point of a profound, funny and open-minded discussion about art. Time and place will be announced at bora-bora.dk.
