I love you.

I love you for buying this magazine, for spending your hard-earned cash to check out what we’re doing. I love you for having faith, for believing that print isn’t dead and that magazines are still worth the paper they’re printed on.

I love you because you’re a human being who cares about stu!. Who doesn’t just take things for granted and assume that everything should be free and instant.

I love you because you’ll spend time looking at this. You’ll hopefully go back to it a few times and maybe you’ll keep the magazine for a few years.

I love you because I care about these things. I care about the people who have made this magazine and how much love they have put into it.

I love you because you have participated in making my dream come true and for that I am eternally grateful.

I love you.

NIKITA KARIZMAInterview by Isabel LiIllustrations by Love Amelia

London has a hard-edged undercurrent to it’s style, so it’s not very surprising we managed to grab a moment with rising star fashion designer, Nikita Karizma - whose riding the tidal-wave of self-expression since graduating from the London College of Fashion last year, Nikita’s graduate pieces have been worn by Little Mix during last year’s X Factor "nale. Since then, she has designed out"ts for the JLS 4th Dimension Tour and most recently decked Alexandra Burke for her Heart-break on Hold album launch - JustPirez! managed to grab a tantalising chat with the upcoming fashion diva, we talked, about the underground London fashion scene, the best places to hook up great fashion pieces and what the future holds for Nikita Karizma.

You are a Londoner born and bred, can you spill the beans on some hot fashion trends we are gonna be stalking?

I love the London fashion movement. It is open-minded and very open to young designers. I also like the way that London has a hard-edged undercurrent to its style, and the way the women here mix it up with more feminine pieces… I think it is really important for humanities sake to "nd your own sense of style that suits your personality rather than following what magazine editors

decide should be worn week-on-week.

Your graduate collection as been worn by Little Mix, what was going through your mind when you tuned into the blah, blah "nale to discover them wearing your pieces?

You know, it’s something you always dream about, but when you receive the "rst initial email from a stylist usually they keep their client under wraps, but i did hear some rumours especially the days leading up to the "nale. TBH the actually moment I saw Little Mix wearing my pieces as been erased from my mind due to the excitement and raw adrenaline pumping through my

bulging veins.

Page 16: JustPirez! 01 - Debut Issue

London Fashion Week is coming around very quickly, what can we expect from your upcoming Collection?

Firstly I would love to see young designers receiving the recognition they truly deserve, and continue to push boundaries with their unique take on what fashion means to them. My next collection is called ‘Collection Riot’, inspired by the London riots. I want to achieve an anti-violent message with it – the reason why the garments are covered with ‘shattered’ pieces imitat-ing glass. I am starting to work on a print with anti-riot police prints and hope to create a statement with this concept. I’m going to work on this idea until it is fully developed. !is means it will be an ongoing project, and not limited to one showing season.

So far you have achieved enormous acclaim for your contribution to fashion. Would you like toshare with us your future plans for developing your brand?

I guess I will continue to work hard on my concepts I would like to develop my skills further which hopefully I will be able to use seamlessly in addition I will take some time developing my collection on an underground level and possibly start to trade clothes - most likely in Japan "rst.

Nikita, If you were stranded on a deserted island miles away from civilisation, what three items would you want with you? Why?

My sketchbook, to translate my inspiration of being shipwrecked. One ipod touch "lled with eastern sacred mantras to awaken my soul and transport me into deep meditation and "nally.. Jet ski, to explore the island and the beautiful aquatic surroundings, maybe I’ll "nd a mermaid deep in the ocean. Who knows.

———

“We as humans have minds that are continually distracted by a stream of material internal dialogue. #ere is no point to design without meaning and purpose and I as a young designer am aiming to bring to you a conceptual body of creative work that has a positive thought provoking message inspired

by the world we live in today.’’

A#er Alphabeat disappeared following the release of 2010’s !e Beat !is.., we’ll admit that we feared the worst. On the contrary, the band have been hard at work in the recording studio working independently on album number three titled: Express Non Stop - which is due out later this month, as a result i managed to ful"ll my childhood dreams and chat with the cool cats of pop music.

Who are Alphabeat?

We are Anders SG, Rasmus Nagel, Stine Bramsen, Anders B, Anders Reinholdt, Troels Hansenand make up a six piece pop band from Denmark who make music you can dance to. It’s actually as simple as that.

In less than 140 characters how would you describe each other?

We are six individuals with the same goal: Get our music out to everyone who wants to listen, dance and sing along! - Have we got more space? Haha! Didn’t check ! But looks good... Well, now we’re on the bad side of 140 characters!

Page 29: JustPirez! 01 - Debut Issue

Your new album is soon released - Can you recall the moment you declared its completion and where in the world we’re you guys?

!e making of an album has di$erent stages of “completion”. Ages ago we had found out which demos should become “Express Non-Stop”. Well, we had 15-16 songs we thought were good enough and that was the "rst completion: Songwriting! Secondly it was on to recording all the songs correctly and getting the right production for each song. We are very keen on making each song stand out in its own way. When all the songs are recorded and produced it’s another victory. !en it’s on to mixing the bunch and then on to the mastering. Sitting with the "nal master is a big step though and you can feel the completion of the album. But then again it’s on to artwork and now we’re just waiting for the bun to get out of the oven so to speak. “Express Non-Stop” is being pressed as we speak. Each one of us are excited to hold the "nal product in our hands! To celebrate we’re actually having three release parties in three Danish cities. We need a proper party to go down with this one.

Is your latest single ‘Love Sea’ a good indication of what we should expect from the new album?

!e album has got a lot of di$erent things to it. We are a “love band” so most of the songs are about love or the fascination of life and going through di$erent stages. !e songwriting is ex-tremely important to us as we are suckers for the good melody but for this album we’ve been working a lot on the vibe in the studio. We want that feeling you know from old school Ameri-can movies where the party goes wrong and the house gets completely wrecked combined with the runaway of two lovers falling in love for the "rst time... Party love! You can expect a very upbeat album with old school 50s girl band arrangements, some motown, a bit of Stock Aitken Waterman and a whole lot of Alphabeat pop!

Who is the messiest and smelliest to live with?

We lived together in London for 3 years. It was actually just a messy life. Interviews, tours, TV shows, recording and all that jazz so we were not really home much. Living in hotel rooms and on tour busses makes you a messy person but in your own way. We kinda agreed from the beginning that we wanted to keep everything clean and didn’t want things to just lie around. But if you travel Europe on a bus it’s hard to keep that promise so at the end of a month of touring it was all just a mess. We’ve said it before and will say it again: Stine is very good at forgetting stu$. So if a pair of headphones or a phone is lying around it’s probably hers. She’s a girl and girls have the right to be messy..

Can you share with us, the process of song writing and do you ever su!er from writers block?

We are all song writers and can all produce music so if someone is blocked someone else takes over and we put the pieces together. We do a lot of the songwriting and recording individually and then take it all down to our studio to "nish it all up, adjusting recordings, making new re-cordings and producing the track. It’s been a long process this time around as we’ve had to "nd the new sound and vibe. But we found the way once again and are quite pleased we did take our time. Music is rushed these days. We didn’t want to do that. We work all the time and down to each and every detail to make long lasting pop songs. We call music that are in the charts now as disposable records. We wanna produce and write songs that are amazing tomorrow and still amazing in 20 years from now.

If you were stranded on a deserted island miles away from civilisation, what three items would you want with you? Why?

Wow this sounds like heaven for us! Well we are a musical bunch so we will take a guitar, every-one we love and eternal use of sunscreen (you can never have too much sunscreen). We will be living under the burning sun on love, coconuts and music!

!e End.

FURNE ONEInterview by Jimmy Outhwaite

Furne One is the curator of Amato Haute Couture, a luxury couture house in the heart of Dubai. Furne is one of the globe’s most hotly anticipated fashion designers – he chats to JustPirez! About life in the limelight.

How would you describe your work?

I am just a simple person who had a dream, I worked increasingly hard to make my dreams come true. Many people have described my work as eclectic and ethereal. But personally my style is in awe of the glam goth look.

You have been described as the most anticipated upcoming designers of the 21st Century. How do you feel about this?

I am unkeen of such labelling – however, as a fashion designer I "nd it very touching and ful"ll-ing that many people look up to me and my designs.

You have worked with some of the biggest names on the planet, such as Katy Perry. Would it be fair to say that she has become your uno$cial muse?

Yes, of course! Katy Perry is such an inspiration to me. I love working, and collaborating with her she is a breathe of fresh air. She is such a talent and a great person. When I "nd out that someone is wearing one of my creations to a event of any kind, it becomes overpowering and I remember why I got into design all those moons ago.

Did you expect the level of success you’ve gained? What advice would you give to aspiring designers?

I think anyone with determination and persistance can really change their lives forever. For aspiring designers, I can only say keep honing and perfecting your cra#. If you build it, it will come true.

If you were stranded on a deserted island miles away from civilisation, what three items would you want with you? Why?

Wow, could you imagine? !is would be a god-send to me sometimes – especially when I look in my schedule and don’t have a planned day o$ for a while. I dream of a place miles away from civillisation – I would take water and food to nourish my mind.
