SYNOPSIS:InterMoor was contracted by Cameron Subsea Systems in July 2010 to design and fabricate 11 suction piles within a very aggressive delivery schedule.

WORK SCOPE:InterMoor fabricated 11 suction piles that included four manifold foundations at 18-ft diameter by 75-ft long and 116-t each; three booster pump foundations at 18-ft diameter by 55-ft long and 93-t each; and four tie-in skid foundations at 18-ft diameter by 55-ft long and 93-t each. To achieve this task InterMoor integrated a design and fabrication process to optimize operation time in order to achieve the client’s aggressive delivery schedule.

CHALLENGES:Integrating a design and fabrication process to optimize operation time to achieve a short delivery timeline.

ACTION:InterMoor’s extensive experience with suction piles was utilized to initiate the design process prior to the availability of detailed soil boring information. This proactive approach, coupled with their state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Morgan City, La., allowed InterMoor to accelerate the schedule further than anticipated and enabled InterMoor to take advantage of early project installation. The project resulted in 2 unique suction piles designs.

RESULTS:This contract was completed ahead of schedule with no lost time or recordable incidents in November 2011. The project was the first for InterMoor’s new Morgan City, La., fabrication facility. The facility is ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified.
