Our Vision is to showcase Australia to the world.

Welcome to Kangaroo Island!Kangaroo Island is renowned for its scenic highlights, natural wonders and abundant wildlife – making it the ultimate nature and wildlife destination in Australia.

Why should I visit Kangaroo Island? With its stunning scenery and abundant wildlife, Kangaroo Island is a destination for all seasons. It’s also the perfect place to see wildlife in its natural habitat – koalas, Tammar Wallabies, Australian Sea Lions and New Zealand Fur Seals. Nowhere else can you see Kangaroo Island Kangaroos or the Kangaroo Island Glossy Black Cockatoo. The scenery is also amazing – from the geological wonders of the Remarkable Rocks and Admiral’s Arch, to Seal Bay and Vivonne Bay, named Australia’s best beach. Offering clean, safe beaches, fresh air and plenty of peace and tranquillity, a visit to Kangaroo Island should ideally be at least two to three days to fully appreciate this pristine environment.

Where is Kangaroo Island?Kangaroo Island is located approximately 110 km south of Adelaide and just 18 km from mainland South Australia. Most people underestimate the size of Kangaroo Island, but it is in fact 4,400 square kilometres with an east-west extension of 155 kilometres. Environmental Awareness

Revegetation of Bushland

KIO owns over 280 hectares of pristine native bushland on Kangaroo Island, where guests are able to immerse themselves into a natural bush setting. The total size of the property is 322 hectares, but about 44 hectares of land in the middle of the property had already been cleared for farming prior to KIO purchasing the property. KIO has begun revegetating this area with native plants and seeds sourced from the surrounding bush – we are committed to bringing it back to life.

No Carbon Footprint

To offset the carbon emissions of the company (this includes touring equipment, vehicles, catering and offices) we need to plant approximately 1300 trees. So far, with the support of guides and staff, KIO has planted around 900 trees and shrubs.

By planting new trees on the property and taking into consideration the already established bushland, KIO is well on the way to achieving carbon neutral status by around 2013.

Biodegradable Products

To further minimise our impact on the environment without compromising on our quality and service, KIO uses biodegradable chemicals for cleaning vehicles and kitchens.

Recycling

All materials that can currently be recycled will be passed on to the appropriate recycling processor. In particular we look at bottles, paper, ink cartridges, cardboard and old mobile phones.

Respect for the Environment

KIO is very conscious of how our tours and visitors can affect the environment. Therefore we have always adopted the strict principles of ‘observation not interaction’ and ‘leave nothing but footprints’. These principles apply not only to tour guides, but also to our guests. This way we can ensure that everyone will enjoy an excellent nature experience on Kangaroo Island, both now and in the future.

Minimal Vehicle Impact

KIO touring itineraries are designed in such a way to minimise driving and fuel consumption. Our guides are encouraged to be as fuel efficient as possible and fuel consumption is monitored on a daily basis. This assists in keeping our overall carbon emissions as low as possible, while reducing our use of the Earth’s fossil fuels.

KIO is committed to responsible tourism practices, as proven by KIO’s Advanced Eco-accreditation status under the Australian National Ecotourism program.

Your travel agent will forward booking confirmations and other payments to us on your behalf, but your travel agent is not our agent for the purpose of receipt of monies. Receipt of booking confirmations and subsequent payments by the travel agent does not constitute receipt of those monies by us and the travel agent has no authority expressed or implied to receive monies on our behalf. There is no liability on the part of The Company in respect to any monies paid to the passenger’s travel agent unless and until The Company notifies the passenger (by way of a booking confirmation advice or payment receipt advice) that monies have been received by The Company. 3. The optional tour excursions are not operated by or at the direction or on behalf of The Company or its employees or agents or any other persons or companies associated with The Company. By taking bookings for these tours, The Company acts as each optional tour operator’s agent. 4. These tours include the services of operators other than The Company e.g. hoteliers, airlines and optional tour excursions, which are not under the direct control of The Company, and whilst The Company takes all reasonable care in selecting these operators, it cannot accept responsibility for those operators’ conduct or the conduct of their representative employees or agents or for any ramifications of that conduct. 5. On tours including activities such as trekking, swimming and snorkelling, passengers accept that degrees of risk are involved. 6. No passenger will be permitted to embark or continue on tour while their mental or physical condition is, in the opinion of any representative of The Company, such as to render them incapable of caring for themselves, or whereby they become objectionable to other passengers, or they become a hazard to themselves or other passengers. The Company will not be responsible for expenses resulting in such persons being precluded from completing the tour.

Amendment Fees A charge of $25 will apply to any addition or modification requested after the original booking has been confirmed.

Itineraries Itineraries are subject to alteration without notice and intended as a guide only. Alterations may come about due to road, weather or tidal conditions, strikes, public holidays, local festivals or other reasons. Due to the nature of the terrain and remote areas, weather fluctuations can adversely affect road conditions which may necessitate alterations to itinerary with little or no notice. Any additional expense incurred by the passenger is not The Company’s responsibility. The Company can give no guarantee as to the exact arrival and departure times for carriers and operators used by The Company in the tour and The Company will not be liable for failure to make connections with any other services or attractions beyond its control. As is normally the case with group tours, a minimum number of bookings is required in order for a tour to be financially viable and to have a pleasant group atmosphere. In the event that adequate numbers cannot be achieved, it may be necessary to cancel a scheduled departure and to offer the nearest possible alternative date (or a full refund of monies paid for by SeaLink Travel Group ground content touring). The date on which the decision is made whether a tour will operate is usually four to eight weeks before the scheduled departure date.

Smoking Government regulations forbid smoking in vehicles, however frequent stops are made for those wishing to smoke. Smoking is not permitted in twin share ‘matched’ rooms. Requests for smoking/non-smoking rooms will be passed on to hotels but cannot be guaranteed.

Money Back Guarantee If a problem occurs during your tour, then in your own best interests, you should advise your Tour Director so that steps can be taken to resolve the matter there and then. If you remain dissatisfied, any complaint must be made in writing to us within 30 days. Any service not supplied will be refunded in full.

Travel Insurance We strongly recommend passengers to take out travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances which may arise (including cancellation fees, medical and curtailment expenses, loss of luggage, early departure from tour due to death or illness etc.). Ask your Travel Agent for details at the time of booking.
