MAARTEN TEN HOLDER

Maarten ten Holder, Managing Director of Sotheby’s North and South America, qualified as an auctioneer in Holland in 1999 after receiving his training in the

United Kingdom. Mr. ten Holder became a Principal Auctioneer in the Sotheby’s Amsterdam office, conducting sales in the Netherlands from 1999-2003.

After being appointed Deputy Managing Director of Sotheby’s Italy in 2002 and

mastering the Italian language, Mr. ten Holder became one of the central auctioneers in Italy. There he was responsible for the first Ferrari sale in Maranello, where he set a world record for the sale of a Formula 1 Ferrari. Mr. ten Holder has

also conducted sales in Germany, Switzerland, and China, as well as auctioneered in five languages.

In 2006, Mr. ten Holder came to Sotheby’s New York, and in 2007, was appointed Managing Director of North and South America, holding the

responsibility for the day-to-day management of Sotheby’s U.S. auction business. He conducts a number of the sales in the Sotheby’s New York office and across

the country.
