  • 2. Deep-Soil-Mixing Typically used in soft soils, the soil mixing technique relies on the introduction of an engineered grout material to either create a soil-cement matrix for soil stabilization, or to form subsurface structural elements to support earth or building loads. Soil mixing can be accomplished by many methods, with a wide range of mixing tools and tool configurations available.

    3. Vibro Concrete Columns

Very weak, cohesive and organic soils that are not suitable for standard Vibro techniques can be im-proved by the installation of Vibro Concrete Co-lumns. Beneath large area loads, Vibro Concrete Columns reduce settlement, increase bearing capa-city, and increase slope stability.

    4. Soilcrete Process

In contrast with the conventional ground stabilisati-on methods Soilcrete may be used for stabilization and sealing of all kind of soil ranging from loose se-diments to clay. This applies also for non homo-geneous soil formations and changing soil layers, including organic material. Soft rock formations ha-ve also been treated by Keller for example sands-tone with weak grain texture.

    5. Compaction Grouting When low-slump compaction grout is injected into granular soils, grout bulbs are formed that displace and densify the surrounding loose soils. The techni-que is ideal for side improvement of loose soil stra-ta and remediating or preventing structural settle-ments.

    6. Piling Piling involves the installation of structural elements to transfer foundation loads through weak soils to stronger underlying ground. We offer a wide range of piling systems. They may be preformed and dri-ven into the ground or cast in situ.

Safe foundation of tanks - our services at a glance We can offer a complete range of foundation techniques combined with a global service and excellent support for the most economic and sustainable foundation solution.

The most imporant techniques for the foundation of tanks:

    1. Deep Vibro Techniques Deep vibro techniques are mainly used under foundations of structures that are to be construc-ted on soils of low bearing capacity. The Vibro Compaction technique compacts granular soils with negligible fines content by rearrangement of the soil particles into a denser state. The Vibro Replace-ment technique builds load bearing columns made from gravel or crushed stones in cohesive soils and granular soils with high fines content.

Remeditation of exisiting tanks With the Soilfrac Process fractures are created in the soil which are filled with hardening grout. Every soil for-mation can be improved by multiple rounds of grouting and controlled lifting can be induced.

    1. Sleeve pipe installation Sleeve pipes are installed in the soil formation to be treated and the annular space between the borehole and the sleeve pipe is sealed with a stiff cement-bentonite mixture. 2. Soil fracturing For the injection of the Soilfrac-material a grout hose with a double packer at its tip is in-serted into the sleeve pipe. The double packer closes the sleeve pipe on either side of the slee-ve, thus allowing the grouting of individual slee-ves in the area to be treated. 3. Multiple grouting The sleeves along the grout pipe may be used only once or several times according to the technical requirements. The grout quantity, the max. grout pressure and in case of repeated grouting the setting time are strictly met ac-cording to the given specifications. Sleeve pipes can be kept operational for a long period.

Oil Tank, Kloubouky (Czech Republic) New constructed oil tank (diameter 38m, height 16m, capacity 12.000 m) with differential settlements when 60% of the volume was filled with water. With Soilfrac Process Keller stopped the differential settlements remediated the oil tank limited the future settlements under full load to

    max. 20 mm.

Oil Tanks, Trieste (Italy) Two crude oil tanks (diameter 40m and 80m) with diffe-rential settlements. The larger tank had a local depression in the bottom plate and a settlement along the shell. With Soilfrac Process the differential settlements were stopped and the tanks were remediated.
