Kevin, the Lost Koala
Kevin is just a little koala in a huge jungle.
Today he begins his first day of school.
When he gets there he finds a whole bunch of different animals.
All the kids are bunched into groups. Kevin is shy and doesn’t know who to talk to. He finds a place and sits alone.
Kevin goes to class and meets his teacher Mr. Hsu. He teaches all subjects in school.
The chimpanzee is much better than him at math, the big cats are much more ath-letic, and the birds are very artistic and sing well.
Kevin is having trouble finding what he is good at.
Kevin continues going to school, but after a few weeks he still feels alone.
He can’t keep up with the jungle cats, he’s out-smarted by the monkeys and scared of the eagles. The animals have formed cliques which feel very blocked to him.
After his first day Kevin goes home sad. He hasn’t met any new friends and doesn’t think he has a natural gift like the other animals.
One day, Kevin joins the kitchen staff. An elephant, named Tony, does much of the lifting while the head chef, George the gorilla, does some excellent cooking. They ask Kevin to serve the food.
Kevin enjoys working with them and discovers they are very nice.
He even tries out a couple of George’s recipes.
As it turns out, George is an excellent cook as well. He discovers his hidden talent and takes over the kitchen after George retires. Kevin loves to cook and enjoys everyday he spends in the kitchen with his new friends.
