Hello! The Thiele family kids are having a

clubcalledTheKidsClub.TheKidsClubis

starting a newsletter. Every week we will

sendyou a copy of ournewsletter. In it we

willhavethehighlightsofthatweek.Thatis

ourwayofintroductionanditgetsusstarted

with thisweeks highlights.Oh, by the way,

thekidswritethisnewsletterbythemselves!

TriptotheZooThisweekwewenttotheNationalZoo.We

had a wonderful time! First we saw the

prairiedogs.Theyweresocute!

We went in the earlymorning so we could

see the animals up and about. The burrowowlwascutetoo.Thenwesawthetiger.He

wasprowlingaround.Wesawthelionsnext.

Therewerecubstoo!

Wetooklotsofpicturesbutonlyafewarein

this newsletter. We got to see the new

elephantexhibit.Itwashuge!Buttherewere

only three elephants total to play in it.We

wenttothebirdhousetoo.Therewerelotsof

interestingbirdsinside.Wethoughtthatthe

toucanwasthecoolestinside.Hernamewas

Cricket.

Outside therewereostrichesand flamingos.

Theostricheshadholesinthesidesoftheir

headsforears!Therewasavulturecalledtheking vulture outside that had anugly head.

Wewentunderoneofthemistersthereand

gotwet!Wesawastrangeanimalcalledthe

caracal.Itisinthecatfamilyandisthesame

sizeasanormalhousecat,butithashorns!We went by a pond and saw ducks and

ducklings. The ducklings were so cute! We

went past another pond and looked in it.

Thereseemedtobenothinginit,butaman

pointedouttoJoelthattherewasanalligatorpeeking outwithonly its eyes showing!We

saw the giantpanda too.The elephantsthat

wetalked aboutearlierareAsianelephants.

One of them isonly2months younger than

Emma!We know because a zookeeper told

us.

At the end we went to the pizza garden.

Thats a place where kids play on a big,

plasticpizza.Ourtripwasreallyfun!

schoolthisweek!Weareontheswimteamthis year too. Our last dayof schoolwason

Wednesday,ourtriptothezooonThursday,

andafunpopsiclenightfortheswimteamon

Friday!WewerewritingthisonThursdayso

we cant tell you anything we did at the

popsiclenight.Butwecantellyouaboutthe

lastdayofschool.Wehadaunitpresentation

and after that we went outside and had

popsicles! Then we had a picnic with our

Its about four mice going into a haunted

house. Their names are Geronimo Stilton,Thea,Trap,andBenjamin. Everyoneexcept

Geronimolikesthehauntedhouse.Geronimo

doesnt like it because hes such a fraidy

mouse. Inside thehauntedhouse, thereare

two cats named Pawkin and Pawette. The

cats were playing tricks on the mice.

Geronimohadtobebraveandaskthecatsto

stopplayingthetricks.Intheend,Benjamin

and Pawette become friends. I liked this

bookbecausethehauntedthingswerecool.

Nomi went to themovies and she saw two

chicksandahen.Thechicksandhenwere

coming to themovies. Theybought tickets.

Thenshesawagorillaandabee.Theywere

alsobuying ticketsbecause theyweregoingtowatch themovie. Nomis friends came to

greetheratthemovies.Nomigotsomefoodforherselfatthesnackbar.Themoviewas

about a big green alien. After the movie,

Nomisaid,Followme.Andtheyallsawthebig green alien near the snack bar. I liked

thisbookbecauseEmmagaveittome.

ThisbookisaboutRoseWilder,LauraIngalls

Wilders daughter. Rose and her family,MamaandPapa,liveinSouthDakota.There

wasadroughttheresotheyleftforMissouri

to find better land. Roses friends, Paul andGeorge Cooley and theirparents camewith

them.On theway they traveled in awagon

andwentacrosstheMissouririver,lostaone

hundreddollarbillandfoundastraydogthat

theykeptandcalledFido.When theygot toMissouri, they founda farm that theycalled

RockyRidgeFarmsotheycouldremember

thatitwassorockywhentheygotthere.The

Cooleys moved into town and started

runningthehotelwhilePapaandaneighbor

namedCyruschoppeddownwoodforneedsaround the house and to sell in town. Rose

metagirlnamedAlva.TheyplayedtogetherandAlvashowedRoselotsofthings.Butthey

wereverypoor.Solotsoffriendlyneighbors

came to help build the barn before winter.Rose could not think of anywhere else she

wantedtobe.Andtherewereappletreesthatwouldgrowapplesinafewyearstime.Rose

couldnotwait!IlikedthisbookbecauseIlike

readingaboutpioneerlife.
