Position Profile

Title: Business Services Representative Date: July 2017

OBJECTIVE:To manage an assigned caseload of customers (job seekers and employers). To oversee and ensure the provision of necessary counseling, basic skills, case management, and additional training activities as need for job seekers. To cultivate and sustain constructive relationships with the business community and employers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following performance measures:

1. Case Management (EMPLOYERS) - Develop and implement business needs assessments, effective practices, strategies and proactively address business needs leading to employment opportunities for job seekers.

a. Develop and implement business needs assessments.b. Contact businesses regarding their immediate or future hiring needs via

personal contact, email or phone on a daily basis promoting training and placement opportunities.

c. Process occupational training contracts with employers to ensure training is on target, prepare invoices and reports to track progress.

d. Presentations to educate local businesses. e. Network with employers establishing employment opportunities through Job

Gateway, various internet sites, and newspapers.

2. Case Management (JOB SEEKERS) – Create and document baseline and customer progress toward their employment goal that can be sued to measure program effectiveness and contractor success.

a. Maintain contact with referred job-ready job-seekers to assist in securing employment with a life-sustaining wage.

b. Research Job Gateway, various internet sites, employer websites, newspapers and contact employers via personal contact, email or telephone to inquire about immediate or future openings.

c. Create and distribute job seeker profiles to employers for hiring opportunities.

d. Arrange mock interviews for job seekers with local employers.e. Network with caseload listing employment opportunities from Job Gateway,

various internet sites, and newspapers.f. Implement Career Club.g. Review applications, verify eligibility and open suitable customers.h. Ensure data validation with accurate documentation, keep files organized

and case notes up to date.

i. Assist customers with work ready workshops, work related issues/barriers, education exploration and planning including financial planning.

j. Provide Work Experience opportunities-net work with employers to set up training sites, provide youth the chance to experience the work world through a paid opportunity.

k. Work with customers scheduled to attend post- secondary training to review their Educational Cost Worksheet, invoices, grades, attendance sheets and diploma or transcripts, and case manage issues during training.

3. CWDS value-added activities - Complete data entry within a timely manner within program policies and procedures.

a. Have all necessary CWDS data entered into system (i.e., case notes, workshops/event list, services, exits) for job seekers and employers.

b. Complete and track benchmark time frames for performance measures.c. Track attendance sheets.d. Prepare and submit monthly monitoring information.e. Ensure proper exit of customer from CWDS and complete file for transfer.

4. CareerLink Coordination - Serve on inter-agency committees, attend meetings and training sessions, and participate in local, state and federal monitoring.

a. Attend training for CWDS updates.b. Attend staff meetings.c. Attend Career link staff meetings/events/activities.d. Conduct recruitment/outreach activities utilizing employer e-mail list and

business related agencies.e. Facilitate Employer Consortium.

5. Perform other such duties as may be assigned for the successful operation of the Commission.

REPORTS PREPARED MAY INCLUDE:

Monthly EARN Customer (LMC) Report

INTERFACE:

Internal - Must interface positively with other North Central staff and departments to promote the vision and mission of the commission.

External - Must maintain positive rapport with employers, partnering agency staff, training providers/vendors, State department liaisons, elected officials and general public.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education – 4-year degree in education, counseling, social services, human services or business or related field; or equivalent education/training and experience combined.

Experience – 2 years in human services, 4 years in management

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have knowledge of the surrounding business community. Must have ability to work with small groups in a training setting. Must have excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills. Must have strong judgment ability. Must have excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and networking skills. Must have strong time management and organizational skills. Must maintain professionalism in appearance and demeanor. Must have strong computer skills. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and the ability to travel. Sitting: 50 %; Walking/standing: 50 % Vision and hearing correctable to within normal range.

Personal computer and printer. Testing equipment General office equipment, i.e. telephone, fax machine, copiers, calculator, video

conference equipment etc. Video Conference equipment
