KLES SKYFFOLDING™ disruptively innovating the existing boiler scaffold system, fi rst off installs Hydraulic lifting system on the topmost of the boiler (Heavy girder), then pendant scaffolds assembled at ground level are lashed down with wire ropes and lifted up to systematize layer by layer, therewith stepping up work effi ciencies by way of stabilization of the system with minimized swaying, while proactively warding off workplace disaster arising from chain reaction triggered by a failure of a member component in the conventional upright scaffold.

● Avoiding the risk of chain collapses - On the heavy girder in the penthouse of the boiler, the strand lift jacks are installed, and

then thereto connected by the strand down to the platform which supports the upper and lower parts of the system, so that all the loads can be supported from the top.

● The loosen-proof safety design of wire clamp - The more load is applied, the farther the clamp tightens the wire rope, therewith beefing up

its clamping force.

● Easy-to-work walk plate and easy-to-move interlayer staircase - Walk plate designed to ensure easiness and convenience for the working, together

with staircase put up between layers in consideration of mobility. In an effort to reduce manufacturing costs and improve installation conveniences, the prefabricated system scaffold components and members are used in.

● Review of platform & scaffold structure - The structural safety and stability have been secured by verifying the stress and strain

This Smart in-furnace scaffolding safety-management system has been designed and developed for the safety and security of the workmen who are working inside the dark and noisy furnace. Organizing the system along with SKYFFOLDING™, you can efficiently manage the safety of the scaffolding along with the wellness of workers in the furnace exposed to many kinds of dangers, by means of installing the load measurement, the displacement measurement, the workman monitoring, and the alarm modules.

01 The load measuring module

Realtime monitoring of load distribution onto in-furnace scaffolds, wherewith preventing any accidents on account of the unbalanced load across the system, and detecting any load changes on in-furnace scaffolds so as to confi rm whether the worker is left behind in the furnace workplace.

● Usability in managing/supervising workers in the furnace- Detecting in realtime if any outbreak of eccentric load or abnormal displacement of the scaffold

support structure, so as to alarm the danger to in-furnace workers when such an abnormal signal(s) takes place; which shall relieve the workers from worksite anxiety as well as beef up supervisory usability. Besides, the system can check if any presence of residual workers inside the furnace workplace, after installing/disassembling the scaffolding or repairing the boiler putting the scaffold to use.

● Utilization of Safety Plus management program, mounting user-friendlier interface enabling data visualization- Safety Plus is confi gured with the Server system and the Client system. The Server collects, stores,

and manages the load and displacement data in realtime. Particularly, on the Safety Plus Viewer program installed in the Client system, the user can monitor in realtime the scaffold state in 3D, and whereabouts of the checked-in workers, alongside the functions of thermal image verifi cation, data history trend analysis, alarm history trace management, etc.

● Prevention of the deformation or collapse of the scaffold system- Realtime monitoring of the loads acting on the scaffolds and the displacements of the boiler tube makes

it feasible to take immediate action in response to the outbreak of abnormalities across the system.● Building up a worksite of security and wellness

- The workman monitoring module is designed to check in on any workman if left behind, taking advantage of temperature information acquired from the IR camera; simultaneously to check in & out workman by tracking their whereabouts through wearable gear; additionally to check up on the wholesomeness at the worksite using wireless sensors, such as temperature, humidity, oxygen & carbon dioxide, and dust concentration.

SPPMS (Smart Power Pipe Management System) is a pipe management system geared to the thermal power plants, beefed up with realtime pipe status monitoring and life assessment technology. Power piping bridging boiler header to turbine inlet, carrying hot and high-pressure steam way long, is subjected to the degradation and deformation at ease, which would cause fatal damage to the piping eventually. Damage to the piping can trigger the failure of the main unit or peripherals, and even worse, likely leading to the shutdown of the power plant to incur huge socio-economic losses. SPPMS monitors the condition of pipes in realtime to prevent such pipe accidents predictably, which comprise a '3D pipe displacement measuring device' managing realtime 3D movements of power piping, a 'temperature monitoring sensor' sensing the temperature, and an 'applied load measuring device' monitoring the self-weight and load. Each measuring device puts forth basic data through which enabling comprehensive assessment and interpretation of the pipe conditions.

● Realtime monitoring- Featuring realtime remote monitoring on changes in 3D movement such as pipe

displacement, temperature, and load.

● Pipe integrity and safety secured- By way of a comparative analysis between the original design value set (design

displacement) and the displacement resulted from the operation (operation displacement), the pipe accident can be predicted. Whereupon the measures required for such piping can be taken swiftly so that the integrity and safety of piping can be maintained in one piece.

● Intelligent control system- It is an intelligent technology that collects data around the stand through environmental

Creep Tester

The creep tester is a test equipment to evaluate creep fractures

in materials by applying specific tensile or compression load

at a certain temperature for an extended period of time, which

shows off exceptionally excellent stability and durability even for

long time experiments at high temperature (over 1,000℃). After

applying specifi c tension or compression load to the material for

a long period of time, the alteration in the length of the specimen

is measured. When a fracture occurs on the way, the test is to

be automatically knocked off, and then the creep curve and data

are analyzed. At the time, the heating device (furnace chamber) is

deactivated to reassure the safety.

The small punch creep tester is used to evaluate characteristics for fracture toughness (transient temperature,

elastic-plastic fracture tension, etc.) of the equipment by cutting out a small piece of specimen directly from a

base material to the extent that the integrity of the subject equipment is maintained. The small punch test has

been emerging as a pseudo-nondestructive material-degradation evaluation method because the equipment

does not have to be demobilized to collect the specimen piece and remedial treatment

is not required after sampling. The fracture tension of the base metal that has been

degraded during operation can be directly obtained, and additional welding maintenance

is not required for the base metal after collecting the sample. It has

the advantages not only facilitating to obtain directly the fracture

toughness of the base material going through degradation by the

operation but also being processible to go without additional welding

repairs to the base material after sampling.

Insulation Performance Tester

The Insulation performance tester is used to evaluate

the heat transfer efficiency of insulators, which can

evaluate the performance of general insulators and

Reflective Metal Insulation (RMI) used in a nuclear

power plant as well. In addition, it is configured in

the shape of a planar type and a pipe type in order

to evaluate the changes in insulation performance

according to the insulation shapes.

It is the distinctive education & training program dedicated to breeding up piping management professionals and boiler in-furnace scaffolding maintenance experts throughout the energy industry such as thermal power, nuclear power, and new & renewable energy. Geared to the power plant practitioners either home or abroad, a broad variety of training programs have been organized which they have to catch on to.

Piping professionals training course

This training program aims to train the professional workforce to grasp the basic design concepts of the pipes and the piping support devices, their inspection & analysis methods, and the piping 3D spatial movement, thereby scaling up the level of job competencies of the piping practitioners concerned.

● The number of piping accidents breaking out because the pipelines of power plants or heavy chemical plants are getting aged in the course of long-term operations or because of the absence of a mid to long-term piping management plan is increasing sharply, along with accidents caused by natural disasters like earthquakes. Now, it is high time for specialized systematic education & training focused on practical skills to be introduced in power generation sites.
