Know More About Sleep Apnea Obstructive sleep apnea is sometimes known as snoring sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is one kind of sleep apnea, a sleeping disorder, characterized by difficulty breathing during sleep and snoring is the first sign of this sleep disorder. This occurs when the throat muscles are relaxed intermittently blocking the passage of the air during sleep. This then causes the person with sleep apnea to experience breathing which repeatedly stops and starts and snoring is one of the most noticeable sign because of this occurrence. This sleep disorder can be serious when not treated immediately. However, people with obstructive sleep apnea can’t be easily diagnosed because they can’t easily notice that they have such sleep disorder. Those who are around them or their life partners are first to notice such change when they sleep. Snoring sleep apnea is usually common among adults ranging from 40 – 60. Know More About Sleep Apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea is sometimes known as snoring sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is one kind of sleep apnea, a sleeping disorder, characterized by difficulty breathing during sleep and snoring is the first

sign of this sleep disorder. This occurs when the throat muscles are relaxed intermittently blocking the passage of the air during sleep. This then causes the person with sleep apnea to experience breathing which

repeatedly stops and starts and snoring is one of the most noticeable sign because of this occurrence. This sleep disorder can be serious when not treated immediately. However, people with obstructive sleep apnea can’t be easily diagnosed because they can’t easily notice that they have such

sleep disorder. Those who are around them or their life partners are first to notice such change when they sleep.

Snoring sleep apnea is usually common among adults ranging from 40 – 60. This is because of either the physical component of the throat or

because of their lifestyle. As the person ages, the person loses muscle mass. The decrease of muscle mass in the airway causes the fats to

replace the muscle mass that is lost, causing the airway to be tighter and soft. Also, smoking and drinking too much alcohol are one of the causes of sleep apnea because these vices directly affect the throat of the person.

Drinking alcohol and smoking damage the throat causing it to block the passage of the air during sleep. Having a large throat or thyroid gland is also

one of the causes. However, even though snoring sleep apnea is closely-related to adults, overweight people also have the risk of having one. The fats that develop unnaturally around the throat of obese people make it difficult for

the air to pass from the mouth or nose to the lungs. This then causes sleep apnea.

There are a number of treatments that could help patients recover from snoring sleep apnea. One treatment is the continuous passage airway pressure which uses a mask that is put over the nose and strapped around the head. The tube

of the mask is then attached to an air compressor which blows air up to the nose and down the throat of the patient.

There is also a kind of mouth-fit device which is put over the teeth making way to pull the jaw of the patient. The stretched jawbone then makes the passage

way of the air to be bigger. If sleep apnea becomes serious, surgery is an option, however, most doctors don’t recommend this because it is too risky and

there is no 100% assurance of curing it completely.
