1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Service should not be attempted by anyone unfamitiar with thenecessry precautions on this monitor.
The followings are the necessary precautions to be observed before servicing.
1) An isolation transformer must be used between the ACplug of the monitor before servicing or testing is performedthe heat sink are direct ly connected to one side of the AC
supply and the ACsince the chassis andl ine which involves a
shock hazard. Before servicing is performed, read allchassis.
the precautions label led on the CRT and
2l Always discharge the picture tube anode to the CRT conductive coating beforehandl ing the p ic ture tube. The picture tube is highfy evacuated and i f broken glass fragments are violentlyexpelled, use shatterproof goggles and keep picture tube away from the bare bodywh i le l rand l ing .
Potentials as high as 25|(volts are present when this receiver is operatlng. operationof the receiver outside the cabinet or with the back cover removed involves a shockhazard from the receiver.a) Servicing should not be anyone who is notthoroughly famil iar with the precau-
t ions necessary when working on high-voltage equipment.b) Afways discharge the picture tube anode to keep off the shock hazard before
removing the anode cap.c) Perfect ly discharge the high potential of the picturetube before handling. The
picture tube is highly evacuated and i f broken glass fragments are violenttyexpelled, use shatterproof goggles and keep picture tube away from the barebody whi le handl ing.
Wind the lead wires around terminals before soldering when replacing parts orcircuit boards.
When replacing a high wattage resistor (oxide metal f i lm resistor) in circuit board, keep the resistor lOmm always from circuit board.
Keep wires away from high vortage or high temperature components.
2. X.RAY RADIATION PRECAUTIONS
1) Excessive high voltage can produce potential ly hazardous X-RAy RADIATIoN.To avoid such hazards, the high voltage must not be above the specif ied limit. The nominal value of the high voltage of this receiver is ZSKvat zero beam current(minimum brightnes) under a 120V AC power source. The high voltage must not, under any circumstances, exceed 30Kv. Each time areceiver requires servicing, the high voltage should be checked following the HIGHVOLTAGE CHECK procedure on page p ( i l ) of this manual. l t is recommendedthe reading of the high roltage be recorded as a part of the service record. It is important to use an aocurate and reliable high voltage meter.

2l The only source of x-RAy RADIATION in th is receiver is the p ic ture tube. For
cont inued x-RAy RADIATION protect icn, the replacement tube must be exact ly
the same type tube as specif ied in the parts l ist '

CONVERGENCE MAGNET ASSEMBLY POSITIONING
Convergence magnet assembly and rubber wedges need mechanical posit ioning fol lowing
the f igure 3.
COLOR PURITY ADJUSTMENT
NOTE: Before attempting any purity adjustments, the monitor should be operated for at
least f i f teen minutes.
1) Demagnet ize the p ic ture tube and cabinet us ing a degaussing coi l .
2 l Turn the B R lG HTN ESS contro l to maximum.
3) Ad jus t RED and BLUE CUT con t ro ls (RV108 , RV107) to p rov ide on ly a g reen
raster . Advance the GREEN CUT contro l (RV109) is necessary.
4 l Loosen the c lamp screw hold ing the yoke, and s l ide the yoke backward to prov ide
vert ical green belt (zone) in the picture screen.
5) Remove the Rubber Wedges.
6) Rotate and spread the tabs of the purity magnet (see f igure 4) around the neck of
the picture tube unti l the green belt is in the center of the screen. At the same
time, center the raster vert ical ly.
7l Move the yoke slowly forward unti l a uniform green screen is obtained. Tighten the
clamp screw of the yoke temporar i ly .
8) check the pur i ty of the RED and BLUE raster bv adjust ing the cur contro ls '
9) Proceed with convergence adjustment.
CONVE RG ENgE ADJUSTM ENT
NOTE: Before attempting any convergence adjustments, the monitor should be operated
for at least fifteen minutes.
*CENTER CONVERGENCE ADJUSTMENT
1) Receive crosshatch pattern with a R.G.B. signal generator.
2 l Adjust the BRIGHTNESS contro l for wel l def ined pat tern.
3) Adjust two tabs of the 4-pole magnets to change the angle between them (See
f igure 4) and super impose RED and BLUE ver t ica l l ines in the center area of thepicture screen. (See f igure 5).
4) Turn both tabs at the same t ime keeping the constant angle to superimpose RED
and BLUE horizontal l ines at the center of the screen.(See f igure 5).
5) Adjust two tabs of 6-pole magnets to superimpose RED and BLUE l ine with
- 8 -
GREEN one. Adjust ing the angle af fects the ver t ica l l ines and rotat ing dotmagnets affects the horizontal l ines.
6 ) Repea t ad jus tments 3 ,4 ,5 keep ing in m ind RED, GREEN and BLUE movement ,because 4-Pole magnets and 6-Pole magnets interact and make dot movementcomplex.
C I RCUMF ERENCE CONVERG ENCE ADJUSTMENT
NOTE: This adjustment requi res Rubber Wedge Ki t
1) Loosen the c lamping screw of def lect ion yoke to a l lowthe yoke to t i l t .
2l Place a wedge as shown in f igure 3 temporari ly. (Do not remove cover paper onadhesive part of the wedge.)
3) Ti l t front of the deflect ion yoke up or down to obtain better convergence incircumference. (See f irgure 5) Push the mounted wedge into the space betweenpicture tube and the yoke to hold to yoke temporar i ly .
4l Place other wedge into bottom space and remove the cover paper to st ick.
5) Ti l t front of the yoke r ight or left to obtain better convergence in circumference.(See f igure 5) .
6) Hold the yoke posit ion and put another wedge in either upper space. Remove coverpaper and st ick the wedge on p ic ture tube to hold the yoke.
7l Detach the temporari ly mounted wedge and put i t in another upper space. Stock i ton p ic ture tube to f ix the yoke.
8) After placing three wedges, recheck overal l convergence.Tighten the screw f i rmly to hold the yoke t ight ly in p lace.
9) Stick3 adhesive tapes on wedges as shown in f igure 3.
