8TH GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS Greetings Parents and Guardians of Future DCSD High School Students!

As your child continues on in their educational path at Davenport Schools, we wanted to make sure to communicate with you about the timeline for choosing which of our high schools your student wi aend and what their course schedule wi look like next year.

The first event for you to aend wi be the Freshman Orientation nights that are held at each of the High Schools. Each night wi begin at 6 pm at their respective schools and you are welcome to aend a three!

● November 15: Central High School ● November 16: West High School ● November 17: North High School

If your student wi be aending the school in their aendance area (see here for boundary maps !), the next deadline is not for you. However, if your student wants to aend a different high school than they would normay be scheduled to aend, you wi need to have a “Transfer Request” form completed by December 1, 2021. Those forms, and where they need to be turned in, can be found at hps://bit.ly/dcsdtransfer .

The High School Counselors wi be visiting the Junior Highs by the end of January to have one on one conversations with your student about their pathway through high school. This Four-Year Academic Plan wi then go home to be signed by you and returned to your child’s Junior High by January 27th.

Finay, if your student chooses to enter a career or technical education pathway, be on the look-out for more information about CTE Signing day this spring!

Please reach out to Bailey Vincent for any questions about making sure your child is successful at high school!

Thank you!

Would you like your son to be a part of the 2021-2022 Davenport West High School Future Falcon Feeder Basketball Program ? The program is inviting boys in 4th – 8th grade who live in the Davenport School District to sign up. They must be willing to put in the work to learn the game. We are looking for more coaches as well. If you are interested in coaching please come.

With guidance from Davenport West High School coaches, the Future Falcons’ program’s objective is to develop the fundamental skills of each participant. Coaches work toward preparing each player to be a contributor to the Davenport West High School basketball team starting in their freshman year. The Future Falcon program focuses on basic skills for younger players and adds challenges as they grow. We will play a schedule of games against other area feeder teams along with traveling to play some out of town teams. The season will run from November to mid-March. Teams generally practice 2 nights per week at an area school. The players will be instructed by experienced coaches.

If you have any questions, please contact Head Boys Varsity Coach David Robinson ( [email protected] ), Coach Derek Hanrahan ( [email protected] ) or Coach Arron Rietz ( [email protected] ).
