Blood Drive August 11 2-8pm

Donating blood is a simple thing to do, but it

can make a big difference in the lives of others.

Summer is an especially difficult time to collect

enough blood donations to meet the needs of

patients, with school out where many blood

drives occur, and many regular donors

vacationing. Please consider being a donor if

you have never been previously. Sign up online

or the church lobby starting in July.

YOUTH NEWS

Souled Out Summer 2015

Wednesdays in July @ 7pm We are in full blown Souled Out Summer mode which means we have events

planned just about every week. Make sure you grab a flyer at the Welcome

Center or online on our website or Facebook page for all the details.

Mud Pit War July 9th @ 6:45pm

The first event is for SR HI only, and will take place at the Mick’s

house. We are going to have a Mud Pit War. You can’t miss this event!

Meet at church at 6:45pm or at Mick’s house at 7pm. If you want to

participate, you must wear an old pair of tennis shoes, some old clothes

and bring a towel and change of clothes for the end of the night. We’ll

end the night with a bonfire and smore’s. Invite your friends

to a night that you’ll never forget!

Michigan Adventure July 13 & 14

Our JR HI’ers are heading out to the Muskegon area for an

overnighter that includes an afternoon on a Lake Michigan

beach and a full day at Michigan’s Adventure theme park.

The park has a full water park, along with thrill rides and

other attractions. Pastor Mike, along with our summer intern Keaton

Washburn and other adult leaders will be taking any student who was in 6th,

7th or 8th grade in May of 2015. The total cost of the trip is $40 (before any

Five Day Frenzy discounts). It includes transportation, pizza party for dinner

on July 13, & your admission to the park. All money is non-refundable and

should be turned in to Robyn Miller no later than July 12. Make all checks out

to Bethany Baptist. For more details, visit our website or Facebook page (see

below).

Road Rally July 16 @ 7pm SR HI students and their friends will be put together in teams with an adult driver, given a

packet of clues to figure out and stunts to pull off with the goal of scoring as many points as

possible. The night winds down back in the teen room where each team’s videos will be played back for all to enjoy.

They’ll be driving all around town (at legal limits of course) and having a blast along the way. If you are student,

don’t miss this night!

CJ Barrymore’s July 23 @ 10:30am

All JR & SR HI students are welcome to come to this event. It is four hours of unlimited use of CJ Barrymore’s

facilities that include go-karts, laser tag, bumper boats, bowling, batting cages, golf dome, euro bungy, rock

climbing wall, and even includes a hot dog lunch. Cost is just $18 for the day. Turn all money in to Robyn Miller no

later than July 19 to get on the list. Plan on meeting at church at 10:30am if you need a ride or at CJ Barrymore’s

at 10:55am if you don’t.

Souled Out Online If you are looking for information about Souled Out and the events that we are doing, you’ve got two great

sources: Facebook and the church’s website. While there may be several down sides to Facebook, one of the good

things about it is that it allows us to quickly get detailed information out about upcoming events. That same

information will always be placed on our church website as well for those of you who do not have Facebook

accounts. The Facebook address is facebook.com/SouledOutBBC and the website address is

connect2bethany.org/#/connectbethany/teens. If you need more information contact Pastor Mike Miller.

SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS

The goals of Bethany’s Missions Committee...to equip and enable members and friends of Bethany to be

personally involved in obeying the Great Commission...to provide a support system for our missions

families who are following the Lord in reaching out into the world.

Missionary of the week July 2015

Don & Pat Block – July 5

Don & Pat Block served in Haiti with Baptist MidMissions for

many years as church planters. In recent years they have

served at Bibles International (BI) in Grand Rapids. BI is the

translation arm of Baptist MidMissions. Don checks, prepares cross

references, and readies newly translated Scriptures for the actual

printing. Pat helps in the office as needed, and she has a ministry

among Haitian immigrants in the Grand Rapids area.

Dick & Mavis Buck – July 12

Dick & Mavis Buck are members of Association of Baptists for World Evangelism

(ABWE). Over the years they planted several churches in central Brazil. The Bucks

have recently retired, but they remain in Brazil and are still very active in ministry.

One of their daughters lives in Brazil, and the other lives in Ann Arbor.

Lee & Lonna Lowell – July 19

Lee & Lonna Lowell work with TransWorld Radio and have two grown children.

Lee’s parents were also TWR missionaries, and Lee was raised on the island

of Bon Aire. After college Lee & Lonna joined TWR, and they have served on

Guam, in Sri Lanka, Swaziland, South Africa, and are now located in the

international office in North Carolina.

Can you even find all those places on the map?

Ondrej & Milina Franka – July 26

Ondrej & Milina Franka are in Serbia. Ondrej is the President of the

Association of Baptist Churches throughout Serbia. He keeps very busy in a

local church, a Bible college, radio ministry, etc. Several USA churches will be

sending work teams to help with the Bible college building this summer. The

Frankas have two daughters, one of whom was recently married. (See article

below)

Congratulations! It is with great joy that Ondrej and Milina Franka announce the marriage of their daughter Megi to Mr.

Michal Capela from Serbia. The wedding celebration took place in Reading,

PA on May 9, 2015. It was a great occasion as they celebrated this event

with their family.

As they arrive back in Serbia on July the 4th, please pray for the work teams

preparations. Then for the greatest event to happen and that is the Bachelor

in Bible and Theology program starting on Sept. 28. This will be a great

event as students for the first time enter the Seminary to take courses at

this level. Pray specifically for the successful recruitment of new students.

Kidz Konnection News!

Discovering Missions This Summer! Continuing Sundays through July 26th

Bethany’s Mission Committee is sponsoring Kidz Konnection. Children

grades 1st thru 6th go from Sunday School at 10:45 am to the main

auditorium for the 11 am morning service and spend the first part of the

service with their parent/s. They are then dismissed to go to Mick Hall (the lower auditorium).

This year we are encouraging the children to know the plan of salvation, be able to explain it and then

begin sharing it as a “missionary” here at home! They are learning this through the use of The Wordless

Book. Each week they focus on a different “color” of the wordless book using memory verses, games,

crafts and snacks.

This opportunity teaching the children how to share the plan of salvation while having fun doing it, will

be a lesson they can share forever.

July Memory Verse

Isaiah 30:21 “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you,

saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

PrimeTimers May 2015 Trip

Bethany’s PrimeTimers and Friends

enjoyed a 5 Day Diamond Bus Show Tour

trip to Pigeon Forge and the Smoky

Mountains. Our days were filled with

laughing, joking, sightseeing, eating, and

great entertainment. On the way there we

had a great meal at the Cracker Barrel in

Corbin, KY before arriving at the Baymont

Suites in Tennessee, our home for 4 nights. Each morning

we had a good breakfast at the Baymont before taking in

such shows as the Patty Waszak Show, the Lumberjack

Feud Dinner show, the Hatfield-McCoy Dinner Show, the

Smoky Mountain Opry Show (our favorite), the Blackwoods

Morning Show, and the Smith Family Show. Between each

show we had lunch at quaint little eateries, visited shops, had

a beautiful tour of the Smoky Mtn National Forest and toured

the Bush Bean Museum. A great time was enjoyed by all and

we’re anxiously awaiting for the next scheduled trip to be

announced for 2016.

Picnic Pot-Luck July 22 12pm-3pm

PrimeTimer’s, come and have a picnic pot-luck at the River Bend

Marina. We will be enjoying lunch by the water under a beautiful

pavilion. A chicken lunch will be provided, so just please bring a dish

to pass. Sign-up at the Welcome Center and pick up a flyer there also.

See Sheryl MacPhee for more info. 31635 S River Road, Harrison Twp, 48045
