Lady Gaga (Ft. Beyoncé) – TelephonePostmodern analysis

Intertextuality: dance scene at diner could suggest that the both artists are superhero's. Jail scenes show the typical conventions of a male only jail but in these scenes women play the part of men.Name of the vehicle both artist get away in is a reference to the film kill bill.

Bricolage: this is seen through the combination of artists, for example lady gaga(Pop) and Beyoncé (RnB and Rap). Styles are also mixed up as Beyoncé is seen in a glamorous dress as she enters the dinner but the switch to an army type uniform which bares her cleavage.

Homage: the vehicles used are a reference to Tarantinos Kill Bill Vol. 1,Beyoncé is named Honey Bee which is a reference to Tarantinos Pulp Fiction as one of the characters is named Honey Bunny.

Blurring of reality and time: The music video spans only nine minutes yet is show lady gaga getting thrown into jail then getting released only to go to commit mass murder at a diner restaurant all the space of 9 minutes.Within scenes of the mass murder the audience also witness a news report this also blurs reality and time as the video does not last long enough for a news broadcast to shown in reality.

Advertisement: there are also many references to brands within the video such as Virgin mobile, Beats by Doctor Dre, Plenty of fish(a dating site) and Polaroid cameras
