Lakewood Country Club Membership Program

for Potomac Tennis Club Members

The Best Is Reserved For The Very Few...

Page 2: Lakewood CC - Potomac Membership

Dear Potomac Tennis Club Member:

The Board of Directors of Lakewood Country Club is pleased to extend to you and your family the enclosed offer for Membership at Lakewood. The Board recognizes that this is a unique situation and, as a result, deviated from our normal membership plan to craft a program that we believe will appeal to a number of Potomac members while providing a fair and equitable balance when weighed against what existing Lakewood members paid as part of their membership.

However, the Board also stressed that Lakewood is, first and foremost, a country club. To move off center from this central point is not in the best interest of our existing members and their families. There is a rich and powerful heritage that has been created at Lakewood over the past 56 years and while we welcome those Potomac members who wish to become part of our history, it must be in a setting that best reflects our past and what we strive to be in the future.

It must be noted that this offer is time sensitive. Furthermore, Potomac members making application for membership must qualify for membership in the same manner as all current Lakewood members have done. This includes a credit and background check, and be approved for membership by the Board. The lone exception is that Potomac members do not need to have sponsorship from existing Lakewood members.

This initial offer is open to the first 60 Potomac members who join before November 30, 2015. Beginning December 1, 2015, the membership Initiation Fee will escalate. Lakewood is aware that Potomac members may have other options regarding where to call you new tennis home. We believe that the combination of our location, our willingness to step forward and make upgrades and improvements to our courts, fitness facilities and the addition of a bubble for our outdoor courts, all done to accommodate Potomac members, speaks volumes about how we value you becoming part of the Lakewood family.

In addition, as a member-owned club, Potomac members would, as do all current Lakewood members, have a strong voice in any changes proposed for the Club. In addition, you would have the opportunity to become part of the leadership of the Club by serving on committees, helping to develop policies related to your sport to improve the overall member eperience. Having felt the impact of a club not owned by its members, we would hope that you would not look to repeat this experience at another club.

The following categories comprise the current membership program at Lakewood.

Regular Membership is the complete package. The member, spouse and dependent children under 25 have use of all Club amenities.

Young Executive membership is designed for those 21-40, seeking a great club experience, while willing to enjoy their golf on weekdays and weekend/holiday afternoons! A special initiation fee payment structure is offered, spreading the initiation fee over time following an initial deposit. In addition, Young Executive members benefit from reduced dues based upon their age.

Social Membership is targeted at families more focused on Dining, Club Events, Tennis, Aquatics and Fitness. Golf is not among the Club amenities available to Social members.

Potomac members may elect to make application for a category other than Social. The survey’s indicated that a number of Potomac members desired to make application for Regular membership. Consequently, Lakewood has put together an offering to address this as well. Those wishing to make application for Regular, Young Executive or Associate membership should contact Lakewood’s COO David Pendy for additional details.
