The South Jordan Fire Department is accepting applications for career Lateral and Entry-Level Firefighter Paramedics and AEMTs. South Jordan Fire Department is seeking highly qualified candidates to join our progressive department.

South Jordan Fire Department offers opportunities to specialize in Heavy Rescue, Hazardous Materials, Truck Operations, and will soon be implementing a Critical Care Paramedic program. Promotional opportunities will also come with the Department’s continued growth.

The recruitment period will close September 27, 2021. Entry level candidates will participate in a written assessment process, interview, and physical evaluation. Lateral candidates will be initially evaluated on their resume and experience. Qualified lateral candidates will be invited to participate in an additional evaluation and interview process. Candidates must successfully pass a physical abilities test, background investigation, drug screening, and NFPA medical exam prior to start. Candidates with EMT Basic certification are encouraged to apply, however employees must complete their Advanced EMT (AEMT) or Paramedic certification within one year of hire.

Emergency medical assessment for Lateral Paramedics/AEMTs – October 11-15, 2021

Lateral Firefighter Paramedic/AEMT* Firefighter Paramedic/AEMTs with at least one year of verifiable full-time firefighting experience qualify to receive a higher starting salary. Lateral candidates may be eligible to receive year-for-year credit for prior equivalent full-time fire service experience.

Starting Paramedic salary: $53,037.40 - $70,116.28 – DOQ

Starting AEMT salary: $43,889.30 - $63,468.08 – DOQ

*EMT Basics must complete AEMT certification within one year of hire

Entry-Level Firefighter Paramedic/AEMT* South Jordan Fire Department is looking for Entry-Level Firefighter Paramedics who want a rewarding career with a range of promotional opportunities. Entry-Level Firefighter candidates must have a current Utah or National Registry EMT license at the time of hire. Candidates who do not have firefighting experience are encouraged to apply.

Starting Paramedic salary: $51,608.96

Starting AEMT salary: $42,714.62
