How to Make a Book TrailerItems

•Flip or other hand-held video cameras •Write-able DVDs and envelopes •Art supplies, toys, props•Optional: flexible mini-tripod•Optional for older children: Windows Movie Maker or free video-editing software

•Children select a book to book-talk.•They can hold the book and book-talk.•They can make pictures or use puppets.•They can dress up, make props, or act out a part.

• The librarian (or another child) can use a Flip camera to film the book-talk.• Flip and other mini-cams can also be

mounted to a mini-tripod. • Flip uses a USB swivel-arm. No cables!• The video can be burned to a disk for

the child to keep.

• Milagros are physical manifestations of spiritual wishes or prayers. It can be anything from the desire to sing on Broadway to simply wanting to pass that Biology test.• On a white piece of cardboard paper, using the Sharpie, write your wish.• EXAMPLE: “Bam Bam wants to play basketball.”

• Want a car? Create a steering wheel.•Studying for an exam? Make a book.• Clemson or USC? Show me your best Tiger Paw or Gamecock.

• Take the scissors, and cut an image from a sheet of aluminum foil.• When finished, use the Sharpies to color your image to completion.

• Favor family and daily life, authentic folklore. • Avoid tokenism. Not too many sombreros,

as cooking events and Family Movie Night with movies featuring Latino actors and themes!
