  • Freda is the Head of the Diploma Centre at the Education Department, Law Society of Ireland. She has overall responsibility for all aspects of diploma courses including collaboration with colleagues in terms of syllabus design and workshop design.

    She qualified as a lawyer in Ireland in 1997 and worked in private practice for many years. Her areas of practice included criminal defence litigation and general practice, and she worked for a period in the Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC). She is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and also qualified as an Attorney at Law in New York State. She has a masters degree in Law from Kings College London, a masters degree from Trinity College Dublin in Education and Technology and a masters degree in Management from the Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin.

    She is a Ph.D. candidate and her research work focuses on professional legal education and professional identity, ethics, professionalism and the lawyering role. She is the founding member of the Irish Rule of Law Initiative group Irish Lawyers Legal Education Partnership Project South East Asia and has taught in Vietnam a number of times with Babsea- Cle.

    John is a course leader in the Diploma Centre at the Education Department of the Law Society of Ireland. He has responsibility for the Diploma Centres Diploma in Law which was nominated for best new postgraduate course at the 2015 GradIreland awards. He leads the Diploma Centres Street Law volunteer programme, a collaboration with Georgetown University, which places trainee solicitors in secondary schools to teach Street Law to transition year students through its unique learner-centered methodology.

    He has responsibility for a number of diploma courses designed for practising solicitors where his role includes curriculum development workshop design and administrative management of the courses. He currently manages the Diploma in Corporate Law & Governance, Certificate in Conveyancing and Property Law and a new Certificate in Company Secretarial Law & Practice which launches in June 2015.

    A dual qualified solicitor and teacher he joined the Law Society in 2013 after a number of years working in second level education. A graduate of UCD and UCC, John qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and is currently undertaking a Masters in Applied eLearning at DIT which involves research into the value of peer assessment in online courses.

    Rebecca has a strong background in sales and marketing and has a wealth of experience with start up businesses in particular accelerating growth, customer acquisition and best practice. She most recently served as a Senior Business Development Manager with Boards.ie, Irelands largest online discussion website.

    Rebecca joined the Law Society in 2013 and is responsible for digital projects of the Diploma Centre at the Education Department of the Law Society of Ireland. She focuses particularly on research and development of digital projects, digital marketing of courses and events, content writing and editing of the website.

    Rebecca has a BA in Design and has recently completed a postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing. She is currently undertaking a Certificate in Data Protection Practice at the Diploma Centre, Law Society of Ireland.

    Brian is an IT consultant who works primarily in education. He is a graduate of DCU, studied for his masters in Technology and Learning at Trinity College Dublin and is a graduate of Computer Science in UCD.
