Leadership & Management Development Training

IntroductionWe recognize that every leader and every manager has a unique set of objectives that must be met, challenges that must be overcome and resources that must be utilized efficiently.LMDT has been tailored to meet these specific needs of the leaders & managers , as they have diverse responsibilities and need specific skills and knowledge.

Who can enroll?Senior and mid-level managers who want insights into their personal style of behavior at work. Managerial and leadership skills can be further enhanced with the help of this course.

Value AdditionThe learning insights, learning implications and developing leadership competencies profile framework make it unique and different from other training programmes. In other words, at the end of the training every participant will come up with his/her own learning insights and learning implications. In addition to this they will have the opportunity to become more aware of their own leadership styles, hence will develop action plans for him/herself at organizational leadership

Reading MaterialParticipants will be provided with comprehensive reading material with a view to increase their knowledge, leadership and managerial skills. A list of suggested readings will also be provided to the participants for further study.

Programme Fee & Cost ShareOrganizations and individuals willing to register for the course should send their registration forms with a fee of Rs. 40,000 per person through crossed cheque/bank-drafts/payorders in favour of NRSP – Institute of Rural Management. This fee will cover the cost of training material, certificate, stationery, lunches, teas, short trips, formal meal, group photo and leadership badges, (during workshop hours). 10 % discount is available to those who register 10 days before the training date. Moreover organization nominating more than two persons will be given 25 % discount.

NRSP - Institute of Rural Management initiated the Professional Development Programme in partnership with Rural Support Programme Network (RSPN). PDP aims at enhancing the professional competencies of senior and mid level managers by developing a need based curricula for training packages that provide academic, technical and managerial up-gradation of skills.

Contents of the TrainingLeadership and Management Module

Leading and managing non profit organizations is becoming an increasingly difficult task, as rapid globalization impacts on communities and nations in dramatic, multiple and often contradictory ways. It also changes institutional relations between organizations, donors, government, the private sector and other civil society organizations.This context demands that leaders at different levels must be highly skilled. This module helps participants to develop or refine such core competencies. The contents to be covered in this module include; • Concept of leadership and leadership characteristics• Leadership theories and assessment of individual participant's leadership style• Analyzing leadership cases• Management, management thoughts and theories, functions, effectiveness versus efficiency, performance,

accountability and transparency• Managing workforce diversity in the organizations, organizational structure and design• Human Resource Management• How do we learn? Exploring learning styles (Kolb's experiential learning model and exercise)

Financial Resource Management Module

Financial Resource Management is one of the fundamental components of an organization. Effective management of the financial resources strategies are needed for the stability and smooth running of an organization. This course has been designed taking into consideration all the essential components. The main course topics are; • What is Financial Management? • Critical Accounting Policies and Concepts• Principal Risks for Micro finance Operations• Funds Management • Audit

Gender and Development Module

Development results cannot be maximized without attending to the different needs, interests, priorities and roles of women, men, boys and girls, and the relations between them. Development programmes cannot succeed without the participation and cooperation of all members of the community. The course contents of the module include; • Theoretical base, origin, focus, contribution and features of WID, WAD, GAD• Defining the term “Gender” and enlisting social institutions for its construction• Gender policy approaches• Gender mainstreaming• Gender audit

Development, Social Change and Governance Module

Organizations always remain in the process of developing their capacities to meet their developmental and social change goals more effectively, whether it involves scaling up programme operations, developing better systems for governance, and constantly revise development strategies in collaboration with others. Therefore, the topics covered in this module are;• Globalization and global scenario; challenges of non profit sector (NGOs and RSPs) and development activist • Social Mobilization (concepts and implications)• Social Mobilization in Pakistan• Governance (deconstruction of the term governance, enlisting the salient features of governance, importance

and role of autonomy, power and authority, why is delegations needed and what should be delegated, accountability and transparency)

Dr.Hamid Rafiq Khattak: A well recognized person nationally and internationally in the area of training and teaching. His areas of interest and expertise include; Leadership, Management, Human Resources, Communications skills, and Presentation skills. He holds PhD degree in Human Resource Development through Education from Vancouver University, Canada. Presently, he works with APCOMs as Dean of Management Sciences.

Ms. Lubna Qamar: A dedicated and competent professional in the field of Human Resource Management. She is very strong in devising Policy Framework for HR, Managing Workforce Diversity, and Conventional Model of HRM. She has a vast experience both with corporate as well as development sectors. She holds a Masters Degree in International Human Resources Management from the Metropolitan University of London. She is presently working as a Human Resource Manager with Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN).

Mr. Roomi S. Hayat: An eminent and globally known trainer and Human Resource Development specialist. He has hands on experience in designing, conducting and evaluating training programmes at all levels. The portfolio of his training profile consists of Leadership, Management, Communication, Effective Presentation, Training of Trainers (ToT) Institutional Development, High Performance Teams and many others. He holds M.Sc. Degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. Presently, he is Director of NRSP-Institute of Rural Management.

Mr. Saquib Mohyuddin: A visionary and charismatic leader, in the field of Economic Development in Asia and African regions. He has worked as a trainer, resource person and consultant for various firms internationally and across the country. His areas of command are Financial Analysis, Industrial Competitiveness and Productivity Audit and has innovated various management systems and training programmes for the Small and Medium Enterprise. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Economics from Harvard University (USA). He is presently serving as the Chairman/Chief Executive for the National Institute for Competitiveness (NIC).

Ms. Shazia Maqsood Amjad: A reputable trainer and Human Resource Development practitioner in the field of HR, Leadership, Management, Organizational Behavior, NGO Management Strategies and Organizational Development. She holds an M.Sc. Degree in Human Resource Development from University of Manchester, UK. Presently, she works for government sector.

Mr. Usman Qazi: A dynamic and competent professional in the field of capacity building and training. He has conducted numerous training programmes in themes related to Leadership, Social Change, Management, Community Development and Research. He did his Masters in Economics and Management of Rural Development from University of Manchester, UK. Moreover, he is a fellow of Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) International. Presently, he works for UNDP at their country office, Islamabad.

Financial Resource Management Module

Mr. Agha Ali Javad: A well known and reputable Financial Analyst who has vast experience of working with donors, NGOs and Rural Support Programmes. His main areas of expertise are; Financial Management, Micro Credit, Management, and Policy Formulation and Implementations. Currently, he is managing Pakistan's largest Rural Support Programme (NRSP) as General Manager.

Mr. Salim Jiwani: A well recognized and eminent name in the field of Financial Management, Mr. Jiwani is a policy planning and design, organizational structure, management and auditing specialist with more than 14 years of relevant experience in the microfinance industry and many multilateral organizations. He is a pioneer of Pakistan's first NGO Microfinance Bank operated by the Aga Khan Development Network. Mr. Jiwani is a Chartered Accountant. He is a Senior Consultant at Shore Bank International, (USA) where he currently runs a project in Pakistan for Advancing Microfinance for Post - Disaster Economic Reconstruction on behalf of USAID.

Mr. Zeeshan Zahid: A sound and strong professional in the field of Financial Management. His main areas of expertise are Preparation of Accounts and Consolidation, Tax and Corporate Affairs, Audit and Budget Preparation. He has work experience both in the profit as well as non profit sectors. He is qualified as a Charter Accountant (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). Currently, he works for Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) as Manager Finance.

Gender & Development Module

Ms. Aliya Sethi: A vibrant and distinguished figure in the field of Social Development and Change. Her main areas of authority are Gender Equality, Understanding and Mainstreaming Gender Issues, Human Rights Framework, Familiarity with Governance Theme and Gender Budgeting in Economic Framework. She has done her Masters in Gender and Development from Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK.

Ms. Mubashara Atif: A well known and prominent person in the field of Gender and Development. She has contributed a lot in mainstreaming gender issues at all levels of RSPs and developing policy framework to cater for their needs in the organization. She has done her Masters in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) Netherlands, The Hague with Specialization in Women, Gender and Development.

Development, Social Change and Governance Module

Dr. Aliya H. Khan: A renowned academician, researcher and social scientist. She is deeply interested in contributing towards the development and implementation of Socio-economic Policy Frameworks, which have influence and impact on world of work at the regional, national and global levels. She holds a Ph.D Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, Chicago, USA. Presently, she is working as Professor of Economics at the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.

Mr. Mohammad Ali Azizi: A well-known person in the social development sector. His main areas of command are: Socioeconomic Development, Poverty Alleviation, Social Mobilization and Policy Advocacy. He has done M. Sc. in Development Finance from Birmingham University, UK. He has been associated with Rural Support Programme for the last 20 years. Now-a-days, he is working for Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) as Social Mobilization Specialist.

Dr. Rashid Bajwa: A very dynamic and well known name in the field of Sustainable Development in the South Asia and the Pacific region. His areas of command are; Leadership, Management, Social Mobilization, Community Development and Poverty Alleviation. He holds a Master degree in Public Administration from University of Leeds. At present, he leads the country's largest Rural Support Programme namely NRSP as Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Shah Makeen: An eminent and well respected name in the field of Social Development and Management. His main strengths include, Social Mobilization, Situation Analysis, Social Change, Training and Development. He has done Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture and Rural Development from Manchester University, UK. He has been associated with Rural Support Programmes for a long time.

Ms. Shandana Khan: A prominent and well known name in the field of Sustainable Development both nationally and internationally. Her areas of expertise are Leadership, Management, Social Change, Governance, Social Sector Development, Gender Issues, Policy and Advocacy She has a vast experience with rural development organizations. Presently, she is leading the Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN an umbrella network of Rural Support Programmes across the country).

Dr. Syed Tahir Hijazi: A well known economist, academician and scholar. His area of expertise include; Development, Social Change, Globalization, Governance and Research. He has done his PhD in Economics, (Institutional Change and Governance) from Clarks University, Worcester, USA. He has a work experience in several countries including USA, Greece, Canada and Saudi Arabia. He remained Dean of Management Sciences at M.A. Jinnah University for eight years and presently, he is working for Islamic International University, Islamabad.
