Continued technolog- ical development and new forms of media are challenging the public library to respond appropriately in order to remain a relevant asset for the community. Changes in recent decades have sparked debate about the relevance of the library as digi- tal forms of media replace printed books. CONCEPT: What if libraries began to consider methods for sharing knowledge outside written language? People learn not just by read- ing, but also through seeing, playing, and listening. I think a library that caters for all types of learning would retain its value in society because such a library would not be dependent on the uncertain future of print and digital media. Of course, a successful library must also be one that includes strategies for integrating new media and remaining flexible for a dynamic future. A library that becomes a center of learning for curious minds will always be a valuable asset to its community.
